  1. Yeah I know, it has been coming soon on the Solstice website for like 3 months now.
  2. Im pretty anxious for the release of these ones. 1. EAT STATIC/DE-CLASSIFIED (SOLSTICE MUSIC) 2. LOGIC BOMB/SONIC ALGEBRA (SOLSTICE MUSIC) 3. TRISTAN/CHEMISPHERE (NANO RECORDS) 4. XEROX & ILLUMINATION/THE BEAST WITHIN (HOM-MEGA PRODUCTIONS)
  3. yes full on, but a bit of a crossover sound somewhere between full on and dark psy. As I have said before on my list of best of 2006. A Good Medium
  4. you know it my friend
  5. Whoever doesnt think this albums sound kicks ass needs to open their fucking ears!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is PSYTRANCE at some of its purest levels. This is not an opinion, it is a fact. Im very close minded on this matter. Just act like you dont know who produced the album and dont assume anything. Listen to it again. Any true lover of pure psychedelic music that doesnt conform to any standards, while still hitting hard with a level of flow and chaos at the same time will and should love this release. This shit just keeps going off!!! I reccomend a listen with a good sound system to grasp and understand the full effect and various elements that were crafted to produce this monster of concepts.
  6. I had the same feeling also. That they would just continue to go against the grain. I just wanted to hear other peoples opinions and feelings on this albums release. And even though Hommega have not lived up to their past reputation lately, I have a feeling this is gonna be one of those albums of 2007 that raises the standards to new heights. I hope
  7. I was just looking at Hommegas website and under the coming soon area I found out that Xerox and Illumination are coming out with a new album called The Beast Within. If this is gonna be anything like there last album XI, then im sure there will be alot of anxious people waiting like me. Does anyone know the exact date in April that this album will be released? I havent heard any songs from these guys lately. Does anyone know what their sound has been like in the last year? Are they sticking to there older sound (still fresh IMO) or have they changed like everyone else has recently?
  8. He actually passed away several years ago. Feb. 10, 2003 to be exact. And it had to do with a motorcycle accident in or around Palulim Beach, India. You must not listen to psytrance much at all to be asking a question like that 4 years after the fact. Cosma was one of the greatest producers of all time. And his music is Timeless. I still listen to his two albums Simplicity and Nonstop on a regular basis. Both masterpieces. With atmosphere that I have never heard anyone else capable of producing to this day. (Xerox and Illuminations XI came the closest IMO). R.I.P. Avihen Livne you can read more about it at this link: http://www.cosma.co.il/
  9. Track List: 1. Super Buster 2. Missing Linker 3. NRG 4. Tweaky rmx 5. Deeper 6. Activation Portal 7. Get Up 8. Groovy rmx 9. Yellow Blaze 10. Aztechno Dream (Shanti rmx) I was a little reluctant to pick this album up after my dissappointment with H20s first release I-Drop, but being an Alien project fan from the beginning, and also after a few good listens to the samples I was hooked. It sounds like Alien Project has finally achieved the sound that many artists such as GMS or Shanti have tried to accomplish in the recent past. Ari's sound has definitely changed, and it is more apparent now with this album than ever before. Super Buster. This album starts off full force ahead with a pounding bass line. Some pretty nice uplifting melodies are presented in this track, but there is still something missing here. A good track, but not a stand out on the album. Missing Linker. The melody here is similar to that of track one. A few good guitar riffs here without over doing it. (Im not a big fan of to many guitar sounds in Psytrance) A good build up near the 5 minute mark. A definate danceable toon. NRG. I love the the underlying melodies on this one. Good breakdown near the beginning. A very trancy sound, however a bit to short. Tweaky rmx. This is a rmx of an Astrix song off the album of Artcore. To sum this rmx up of what Ari has done with this song in one word-Modernizied. Towards the end of this track you have that signature Alien Project sound. The break down is a bit weak for my taste, but I actually enjoyed this rmx more than the original. Deeper. This song has several samples of, and is sort of, in a way a psy rmx of a track called As The Rush Comes, by an artist named Motorcycle (a trance producer) call me a cheese lover, but I really enjoyed hearing some good old female trance vocals in a psy song for a change. (Better than Dali any day) Overall this song is as it is named deep and floating with a hint of atmosphere. A really good melody towards the end to keep it from getting boring. Activation Portal. Here we have the albums self titled song. This is one of the stand out tracks with a good tempo, and of course good melodies. A great variety of sounds and a spiritual sort of female chant throughout. The finale build up should make the dance floors explode. Get Up. Another blaster getting even further away from the sound of the previous tracks. "So Get Up" I have heard these male vocals in so many different tracks from psytrance to hard house, but they fit well here. Right when you think the track is about to break down, it keeps going. A great driving stomper. Groovy rmx. Ari does a rmx here of his own song from the album Dont Worry Be Groovy. I think he should have left this one alone. Although there are some good elements present here, Im just not feeling this one. The original is definetely better with that true psychedelic vibe. Yellow Blaze. This track I can just close my eyes to and drift away. A very nice touch with an overall dreamy mood. Blaze one up! Aztechno Dream (Shanti rmx). And yet another rmx. This time by Shanti rmxing Aztechno Dream from the timeless album Aztechno Dream. Shanti doesnt do a bad job, but IMO when you rmx a song if it is not better than the original then leave it alone. Even if the rmx is as good as, it is still just a waste of time. This track is less psychedelic than the original and less pumping, Even though there are some new refreshing sounds and melodies here. To sum up this album I would have to say. Morning Full-on of course and highly melodic and fluffy. I have a strong feeling that many people are not going to like this album. All of the purists and goaists will most likely think this is just the further decline of a once great and pure genre of music. What Ari has done here is take a generic sound and and spiced it up with some juicy production. Thus making that generic sound not so generic anymore. The one thing I liked about this album is that I didnt get bored. I look forward to his release party in Tokyo. Its not scheduled yet, but Tokyo has a release party for virtually every major artists album. This one is gonna be a mad man on the dance floor. I give this album a 7/10. Favs..4,5,6,7,9 You can hear samples at these links: http://www.boadistribution.com/news/H2O/H2OCD002/ http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/h2o/h2o1cd002.html
  10. That was quick. I created my own account on discogs. As for the picture thanks a fucking bunch man, Im gonna get to work on that review now.
  11. Alright Ill give it a shot. The album is Alien Project-Activation portal.
  12. Thanks man, I clicked on your link. Ill use this in the future. Unfortunately the artwork for the album Im trying to review was not on this website.
  13. Every time I review an album I try to insert the album art in the review, but fail every time. This may be the simpleist thing to some, but I have tried to copy and paste from my pictures. I have tried to drag the picture to the review, but still nothing. And after you click on insert image that box appears telling you to insert the url for the image, and I have failed again either with the wrong format of the address or something. Can someone please help me with this dilemma. I would like to provide a high quality, good sized image for every review that I submit.
  14. I actually really enjoy the Finish sound. I went to your link and then I ended up on youtube watching a 10 minute video from 2005. This is what Im looking for. I have grown tired of the mainstream psy events here in Japan and from what it looks like and as you said good vibes all around. I have longed for a real scene with sincere real people that are really into the music and not just at an event to be seen.
  15. Did you even read a word I wrote when I started this thread? I stated that I wasnt trying to be negative. This was supposed to be more of a fun thing. As for the to much time on my hands bit, you may have been a member of the Psynews forum alot longer than me, but that still doesnt change the fact that you have what like almost 800 posts on this website and I only have 30. Who really has to much time on their hands here?
  16. Anti-Rave Bills Background The RAVE Act which threatens to squash live music and free speech was passed in 2003 when it was tacked onto an unrelated child protection bill. In 2004 there were two additional pieces of legislation considered - the CLEAN-UP Act and the Ecstasy Awareness Act - that threatened to widen the laws to prosecute anyone who holds an event and fails to prevent illicit drug use. Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) forced the controversial legislation, widely referred to as the "RAVE" Act, through both houses of Congress as an attachment to an unrelated child abduction - AMBER Alert bill (S151). The "RAVE" Act had not passed a single committee before being attached to the AMBER Alert bill. In addition, it was so controversial when it was introduced during the 107th Congress that two Senators withdrew their sponsorship. The "RAVE" Act makes it easier for the federal government to prosecute innocent business owners for the drug offenses of their customers - even if they take steps to stop such activity. The "RAVE" Act attached to the AMBER Alert legislation passed both the House and the Senate despite the fact there had been no public hearing, debate or vote in Congress this year. Due to overwhelming opposition to the "RAVE" Act, legislators were forced to remove some of the most egregious language before it passed. For example, the word "rave" was removed from this version of the bill. Also, the original bill suggested that prosecutors should view the sale of water and the presence of glowsticks or massage oil as evidence of drug use. These preposterous "findings" were removed in large part due to activists who sent nearly 30,000 faxes to their Senators between January and April 2003, urging them not to support such dangerous legislation. The AMBER Alert bill with the "RAVE" Act attachment was signed into law by President Bush on April 30, 2003. Click here for a legislative history of the RAVE Act. The Consequences The Rave Act has the force to stop licensed and law-abiding business owners from hosting events out of fear of massive fines and prison sentences. Shortly after the act became law, a federal agent in Montana used it to shut down a benefit to raise money for Students for Sensible Drug Policy and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. The DEA agent told managers of the Eagle Lodge in Billings, Montana that the Lodge could be fined $250,000 if anyone smoked marijuana during a planned benefit to raise money for a campaign to pass a medical marijuana law in Montana. The Eagle Lodge canceled the event. The law applies to any business owner, including bar owners, motel owners, concert promoters, and cruise ship owners. Because of its broad language, the law could even potentially subject people to twenty years in federal prison if guests smoked marijuana at their party or barbecue. DEA vs Electronic Music Since its beginnings the electronic music dance phenomenon has been condemned by forceful politicians, sensationalist media and concerned parents. Today, electronic music parties are being directly targeted by law enforcement. It is the official position of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) that a rave is nothing more than a venue for drug sales, distribution and use and consequently, the agency has sought to criminally prosecute electronic music concert promoters under the federal "crack house" statute and encourages local authorities to do the same.
  17. Ill have to look into that. I have never heard of 6-d soundz or Sharaku. I presume smaller, more intimate underground gatherings right?
  18. Thanks for the heads up on his side project. I was completely unaware of this release. Im listening to the samples from your link now and I must say that this sound is right up my alley. Im gonna have to go pick this one up. Very interesting intros like the fearless album, and all of the chopy crunchy sounds are still present. Who knows, I might like this one even more!
  19. I just got your info. Ill hit you up. later
  20. I think the fact that the psy scene in america has began to grow lately, (particularly in California) shows signs that many more americans are finally exploring different cultures and ideas once again. It seamed for a while there that the country was asleep. But things are looking up lately. As for Bush. The only reason he made the last election is because he has an army of brainwashed followers behind him. People with a blind vision. imo. That and the fact that there wasnt really anyone that was running that was worth voting for. IMO
  21. I think both in a way. Or its just that many americans dont know about psytrance really. Or most americans are contempt with listening to just whats on the radio, or hiphop. Very shallow music. What kind of music a person listens to says alot about who they are. Music is a very personal thing. Bush did sign off on an anti rave act, under the the patriot act 2. It stated that officials were legally allowed to shut down a party for no reason at all, just because they were playing electronic music.
  22. NOVA is that english teaching company right? I once had an interview in tokyo with GABA (another english teaching company) Once I found out that I had to go to 3 full days of training without pay and also no travel pay on top of that, I was like forget it. What a rip off. I have a few friends that are into psy. Some are Japanese and a few are american. Psy trance isnt big at all in the U.S. even though it has gotten bigger lately. In the eyes of George Bush, your pretty much a terrorist if you dont conform to the way that society wants you to be. And Psytrance in America is definitely not conforming. Anyways my name is Clayton. My phone number is 08031700286. Hit me up any time man, just to chill or to talk about music.
  23. I work on an american Navy base as a civilian. How about you? We should go party together some time. Im always looking for new friends that are interested in the same music as me.
  24. I have been here just a little over four years also. I dont know any promoters any more anyways. I do know a brazilian dj named Roger that spins at all of the Vision Quest partys so I can get in to one for free once in a while. I have only been to 2 partys this year myself. You can only go to the indoor partys so much before you need a change in scenery. Im just waiting for the outdoor festival season to start, then Ill definitely be hittin up some parties in the forests and mountains of Japan.
  25. Im from the U.S. of A. I have been in Japan for a while. I dont know if you were here when Arcadia was around 2 years ago. In my opinion Arcadia was way better than any Solstice or Vision Quest partys. It was tokyos raw psychedelic scene when those guys were around. Plus I used to get in for free because I knew some of the promoters.
