  1. G'day all

I never paid much attention to this labels but after I played a small private bday NYE set of DAT/Anjuna/Zion604 stuff from midnight to 4am the next dj did his first 2 of goa, then an hour of this SA style and brought in the morning with some early TIP World works.

I had loads of fun, but with a limited budget was wondering what you'd consider the essential releases from these two labels, and any other related labels over the last decade or so?

    Cheers

  3. I enjoy a lot of the modern but so wish I hadn't sold my Mistress Of Evil, Trishula & Nabi CDs a few years back.

This year the biggest surprise for nice dark psy was Khaos Sektor "Psychedelic Adventure" album on Rockdenashi. It incorporates happily all the elements of modern & IMO old dark psy but never goes super fast nor does it go super glitch. Check it out, it also snuck past me.

  4. Jeez man. Have I ever seen such a bunch of girly whinging or what?

Sh!t happens & more ale with small independent labels. I had money stolen from me from Mighty Quinn who refuse to respond about it now. At least Anjuna offer a refund!

Mail sucks, so maybe would you be happy to pay a premium for course huh? These CDs are so cheap for what you get. Either wait or get your refund and buy it elsewhere.

This site should be changes to psygirls.com!!

  6. Amazing release. Great to see some of the deep psychedelic getting reissued, a bit tired of super melodic sunny sounds, it has it's place but you need the darkness for the light.

The Sandman track is perfection. He has been my psychedelic shaman since I heard this track in it's original form on TIP. From 9 minutes on this live mix really flies. Gonna get some mushroom soon & go deep with this and Alien's Lair :)

Thanks to the label, keep it up :)

  7. Lookin for stuff like UX - "Third Eye (Remix)" on Tribal Encore. That track is pure eargasms & giving me so much studio inspiration.

Anything similar? Especially the raw sound. Doesn't need to have psy influences.

    Cheers

  8. I'm gonna guess you are referring to his 1994 Essential Goa Mix. I really love that mix, not just because it's goa, but the fact that he mixed in other stuff like Vangelis and stuff like that, gives a nice slow down and build up to the next songs.

It was reissued in 2011 as "The Goa Mix 2011". It's one of my fav mixes, even though due to certain licensing issues he had to drop a couple of the origincal tracks and sadly replaced them with an IM & Astrix track. The general flow and feeling is still there, and depsite being an obvioulsy computer made set it works really well for a mixed CD as it has more of a soundtrack quality thana standard club mix CD.

Despite the many haters most of Oakenfolds recent mixed compilations have a slight psy edge to them, and he makes better full on than anyone else.

    For example I don't mind

  10. KoxBox live. that low quality one floating around. It so deserves to be remastered and reissued.

A mate of mine has an AP set recorded to DAT from around '98-'99 of an impromptu set Astral did in Australia. It's all unreleased or remixes and is as dark as all hell compared to most Goa, but the quality is horridly recorded in mono and cuts in and out at parts. I remeber at the time my mate was talking to them & they said they had tons of really dark stuff but it would never be released as AP is supposed to be enlightening and uplifiting. My mate said they should release it under a new name but never happened obviously. I kid you not it sounded like a very demented Sandman/Schuldt style minus any guitars.

I had the most enlighting but horrible 'cid trip that night after way too many doses, it changed me deeply forever but I never touched a drug since.

  11. Hi all

look I don't want to make an issue but I have most the Suntrip catalogue & I'm just not connecting with this Neo Goa type sound. I was thinking of selling these CDs second hand on here but didn;t want to offend the lable owners. I was gonna sell them for just $10US each inc. postage anywhere in the world from Australia. It's selling them at an actual loss but at least I won't be out of pocket.

Nobody really buys them here in Australia second hand. But if this is deemed inappropriate by users here & of course the label I'll go to ebay or something instead.

    Cheers B.M.

  12. I don't mind if it's done well like Breaking Bad. Homeland for example was way to over the top & made just for uncomfortable viewing. It depends on horror, for example the older stuff like FReddy Krueger or Jason was done with a sense of humor so the stress/tension was just to add to the fun of being freaked. Gore stuff just bores me, life is depressing enough than having to watch such things played out on a screen.

  13. Good day

so yes as I am looking in to buying more new and used hardware I am looking towards the chunky kind of tech psy that Atomic Records was putting out. I am wondering if a lot of those sounds were from the Nord Lead or Virus synths?

I would not pay for a Virus TI as to me it is too much for digital but a second hand virus can be found, or else the Nordlead 2x is now going cheap new after the Nordlead 4 is out.

    Any infor much appreciated.

    Kind wishes

    B.M.
