  1. PURE QUALITY!! Top release... one of my all time favs..
  2. Tortured Brain - The Raver / B Side Artist: Tortured Brain Title: The Raver / B Side Label: Aurinko Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. The Raver 02. B Side Review: I kinda fell in love with Tortured Brain after the release of their excellent track "Electroencephalotramme" on Kiss the Future 1, that track is though still my favourite even after this release. The a side kicks of with some of thoose samples that really has became kind of a typical ingredience in the tortured tracks. I really got high excpectations on this track but it actually dissapointed me a little. It has this evil feel all over it and it got some nice effects whining but the melody that comes in in the beginning is reaaally bad tasting. Very simple in a bad way which makes it untasty and boring. The effects and kickdrum is good though. There is also this excellent dubby drumn'n'bass break which is really nice and harmonic, but then there is this melody again,,, damn,,, why?!?!? There is another melody that comes in in the second part of the track,,, it´s also quite simple but much much better then the first one... evil! Can understand why it landed at the same label that Tim Schuldt releases some of his material. The b side is actually far more better, a conclusion that friend Krister (Baboon) agreed to. It starts of quite repetive with a bass line ala Tortured Brain and some sort of a simple melody. It builds up and becomes more and more intense. Then another melody comes in... and this one i really can say that I don´t dislike. It sounds like if you take a synthesiser and transforms it to a guitar with strings. Then the guitars comes in and some singning (!) male that sounds like the one in "Seratonin Sunrise" by MWNN (maybe just a little bit more distorted). You can now feel the energy, not because of the singing but because of the great breaks and explosions of sounds. It then ends up in some harmonic sounds which really makes you come down after all the hysteria after the explosions. Goood! The releases as a whole is in the spirit of Atomic/Aurinko. An average release, but it´s worth buying for the second track! Take care!

  8. Medicine Drum Vs Laughing Buddha - Written In Stone Artist: Medicine Drum Vs Laughing Buddha Title: Written In Stone Label: Transient Date: 1999 Track listing: 01. 08'42" Written In Stone 02. 07'14" Written In Stone (Floorplay) Review: This is so damn good in my opinion... The original is a sunny track whcih starts with great samples & digeridoo sounds.. Then it takes of and this is what I really like to listen at to at home .. the vibe is great through the hole track with tribal drums and sunny melodies... well produced and very sensitive... The Floorplay mix is a more of a commercial trance version (like the other Floorplay stuff from Transient). It´s high quality and very well produced.. but the original works far better for me.. Take care!
  9. Great album... had to write here because I have been in love with "Land of Freedom" for quite a while now =)) (since 97 actually)..
  10. HOHO! One Way Limited ! What a track!
  11. This is pure psychedelic dub which is very very nice for my ears :=)... just got it ... but so far I must say that the 2 "The Deep" tracks makes me feel very good! awesome! hmm.. every track is peaceful and awesome... very very good!!
  12. Avatar - Machine Life Artist: Avatar Title: Machine Life Label: Dragonfly Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 09'21" Machine Life (Alternator Mix) 02. 08'56" Machine Life (Trance Mix) Review: So, time to say some words about these two tracks produced by Marc Van Der Flugt (has a close relationship cooperation with Atomic and rescently picked the tracks to the latest Atomic comp. "Marc Van Der Flugt - Behind The Scenes") and Pete Martin (the master brain behind magnificiant Slide). The main story, is unlikely Slide, more psy-progressive. The first half consists of a quite heavy kickdrum and a chewing dark (but not evil) bassline. They haven´t been wasteful with the sounds, just a hi-hat, some robotised whisper sounds and some other effects swooching by. It builds and builds, but doesnt come anywhere until the other end of the track. It´s the digeridoo that enters the schene... it´s no really a digerdoo but atleast it sounds like a up-pitched computer manipulated one. This is a great moment in the track and it sends out a great vibe and a great deal of energy. Sadly that only the end gives me something,,, can´t compare it with Slide though which is much more my cup of tea. The A-side is, as often now a days, a more usual trance track (as in commercial trance). It´s very well produced and the vibe is sunny and quite atmospheric filled with melodies. I think you trance freaks will put this higher on your list then the psychedelic dudes will put the Alternator mix. It´s an okay release from dragonfly, but I think it´s stupid to mix the styles so much on the records. The "commercial"-guys will propably never hear about this record and many of the psycedelic freaks doesn´t want the commercial-stuff. Take care...!

    V/A - Floor

V/A - Floor Artist: Various Title: Floor Label: Medium Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 07'20" Chi-ad : Monsters (Four Carry Nuts Rmx) 02. 08'35" Human Blue : Enviromental Boogie 03. 08'43" D Fundation : Chiccadilly Circus 04. 08'32" Chi-ad : Waverider 05. 08'53" Matenda : Fjaka 06. 08'11" Nerve : Rocket 07. 10'08" Visionary : Glass 08. 07'02" Rastaliens : Magwa Review: It starts with the Four Carry Nuts remix of Monsters which is just so damn GOOD! One of my absolute favourites with Chi-A.D. It has so much energy and it´s very very well produced. Sometimes it´s horror sometimes very happy. Everything fits perfectly, can´t describe it with words =). Even the guitar riffs fits, guess that those isn´t there on the original, do u feel guilty Mister Schuldt???? =). Human Blue got another of his morning tunes in "Envormental Boogie". Much tribal percussions and you can also find some "friendly" acid influences in the end of the track. Maybe will fit in the forest? The D.Fundation track is the only one that I can say that I don´t like. Boring, boring, boring. nothing is happening and the kickdrum sucks big time. There are always some people who likes a track but I can´t really imagine that someone will like this one. Very technoish, gives me nothing. The second Chi-A.D track on this comp. is "Waverider". A good track, not as good as Monsters though, with a lot atmosphere and harmonic melodies. Seems like he have changed style, it´s far away from his earlier releases. Track 5 by Matenda is in the same style like Atmos, but the quality isn´t as high as Atmos releases (feels like something is missing). The Nerve track is pure music for the psychedelic horror nights =). Hard, dark with a lot of horror effects and some dark/evil melodies whining in the background to, good! Reminds me of some horror tracks from the Serial Killaz comp. The track from Visionary is a morning track with happy/sunny atmospheres and good melodies. Perfect after a hard night on the floor =)... Only one thing that sucks with this track: The intro. Propably the worst one I´ve heard this year, sounds very very much like an amateur goind loose on ReBirth =). Rastaliens has a good stomper in "Magwa". Aggressive melodies on top of a dark kickdrum and cool bassline. Haven´t really liked the other releases from Rastaliens, but this one is good. So in a whole this is a really good comp. from year 2000. One of the best from that year in my opinion. Go get it!!! =)
  24. Martian - Liquid Structure Artist: Martian Title: Liquid Structure Label: Spirit Zone Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. Liquid Structure Review: This onesided 12" consists of one harmonic track for the mornings. It starts with a loooong soft intro with many influences (for example some bagpipes). Then it takes of with a kickdrum with a German touch and it builds with different harmonic/sunny melodies. Everyone who heard any of Antaros morningsets this summer has propably heard this one and I´m almost sure that he played it on VOOV. Very well produced but not really my type of morning music. If you like the "slower" releases from Spirit Zone, I think you will like this one (can´t compare with any track though).
