1. I want some pompous orchestrated music or something, for a film.

It's supposed to illustrate a mighty, extraordinarily powerful beginning of a stunning film made by my friend Vigoros van Obenlaupfe.

I would be very grateful in case any replies appear. They may be written by anyone here, since racist opinions are not quite my thing.

However, you may want to note that psytrance is not welcome. A total abscence of bass drum is required.

    Thanks in advance

//your beloved qa2pir (master of frightening bassbalance).

Check out stuff by Wendy Carlos (she made most of the stuff to A clockwork orange and 'lots more) Mebbe you may also like Stockhausen

  2. Okay, I often get frustrated by the psy scene because it doesn't get powerful or deep enough. I like the tech thing because it gives me the power I enjoy, but it can also be fairly dry. So I'm probing - it's a long shot - for recommendations for stuff (not psy) that has as many of the following elements as possible:

    - electronic

    - powerful

    - serious!!!

    - deep

    - dark

    - large!!!

    - subtle

    - interesting

    - not highly repetetive

    - not trying to be scary/horror, because that's silly

    - synthetic

    - emotive

    - artful

    - not too fast, not too slow

    - has some variety, twists and turns

Gimme some giant, stomping, storming, raging electronic music that makes me feel.

    Thanks.  ;)

Seems hard to fulfill all these requirements.. but so much more challengeing.. try Ballet Mecanique: "An attempt of interruption" (not that electronic.. but eclectic on another level!)

Well, within the genre i'd suggest:

    Cosmosis "Howling at the moon"

    Abstrakta araberr "Sitt i soffan"

Koxbox "Fuel on" (you probably know this one.. and if not , get the hell out and get it!)

... more to come eventually... :)

  3. thx for replying

Basilisk, for the first two songs its the ryhthm in general, fast and "danceable"  :P,  for Gamma Goblins 1 it would be the part that starts at 5:13, for Gamma Goblins 2 it would be the one starting at 4:17 and ends about 6:54.

ill put more examples of what im looking for in the songs:

    -Talamasca's "Halloween"-starting at 3:22 and "Gemini" starting at 3:32

-Psycho Bitch From Hell (Solipse Technology Remix)

-Man Made Man's "Elevator" and "Athalon"

-"Black Rain" by Prana & Amanite FX

-"Acid Killer" by IM & Xerox

-the part that starts at 4:52 in Iron Madness Vs Paranoise' Bombastic Compot"

    -Neuromotor's "Electrofuck"

    -Parasense's "Black Sun"

    feedback will be appreciated

Deepdrone, thanks for the suggestions, ill look for some and see what i like  :)

You should really try: Abstrakta Araberr "Sitt i soffan"

    and: Nervasystem "Initiation"

I'm not quite sure it fits what you seek for, but give 'em a try.. (anyhow they are brilliant tracks..)

  4. Koxbox is the absolute best when it comes to use very many sounds at the same time without sounding messy. With this album Koxbox really showed that they are one of the most innovative and skilled names on the whole scene.

    My favs are:

    Life is

    D.m. turner

Tokyo nights (listen to the "lights" turn on as the night is coming on)

    Colordrops

    9/10

  5. why of course, digital, for the simple fact that its tens of thousands of dollars less for the same quality

    535537

You got that wrong - no matter the quality, digitally processed sound can never reach the quality of analog, since analog is infinite. There is certainly af difference and the digital stuff that has the same quality as analog is just as expensive. But it's true that digital technology sometimes come pretty close, and analog signals will of course be converted into digital when plugged into a computer for recording so unless you have access to an old all analog studio, the process will turn digital sooner or later (also when it actually becomes a cd)

  6. The Cure

    Joy Division

    Ballet Mecanique

    The Doors

    Einstürzende Neubauten

    The Smiths

    Siouxie and the Banshees

    The Knife

    Smashing Pumpkins

    Mayhem

    Dark Throne

    Lush

    Isengard

    Kraftwerk

    Soft cell

    Visage

    Depeche Mode

    Mercyful Fate

    Radiohead

    Bauhaus

    Pink floyd

    The Clash

...and the list could go on and on... But if you add some punk (also a lot o' mid-60s garage), some indierock, some new romantics and some more metal it should be a bit more complete...

What, on the other hand, makes puke is 99% of the soul and rap shit on Mtv, on the radio and... feels like it's everywhere.. The musical crap seems to be centered about the vocals and lyrics but at the same time the lyrics are mostly some lame shallow shit about how cool an attitude they got or about the tough streetlife in the gettho, while they actually sit in their 2 million$ mansions, cut away from anything that has to do with the lives of people in ghettos... And then there is all the usual pre-teen crap like timberlake, britney and boybands and so on and on and on...

    519900

Gee.. seems like a bunch of very one-sided mainstream pop-goa stuff.. may sound good at first but will become tiresome in a short time due to its lack of depth.. Many years since I got bored with most of these tracks...

  10. My hardware:

Clavia nord modular (the heart of my homestudio)

Arp odyssey (sounds really really good and can do some amazing things that no other synths can do except for modulars)

    Roland sh-101 (nice little thing)

Yamaha cs-1x (a good synth though i don't use so much anymore)

Fender stratocaster el-guitar (you may think it's no use in making trance, but then try putting it through the Nord modular)

    Different mics and effect boxes

  11. Nice avatar.  I've always thought our logo looks best on a white background though; the black is a little difficult to read at that size.

    499779

I chose it primarily because "Flourostani transcendance" was the very track that made me interested in whole genre back in 96 (at the time I listened to Prodigy). It really changed my life, and now, ten years (and many hundreds of tracks o' goa) later it still remains as the single best track imo.

  12. "PSYCHODELIC SPECTACLE CASE" seems a bit foolish.. Btw I think my own nick is cool; suddenly it just emerged OOMyD :) .. Anyway, has the opposite topic (coolest names) been brought up? I think Subcouds is too cool a name, can't believe they gave it up...

  13. This my first goatrance buy I ever made. I chose this one because of the very track that made me interested in the whole genre: "FLourostani transcendance". Now 10 years (and many many albums, EPs and singles) later this track remains the single best track imo. Anyhow, all in all this comp. isn't that fantastic. There several much better from that era

  14. This is one of my first goa compilations and I really think it sucks. There is only one really good track and that is Atomic armadillo (not to be compared to the Rock bitch album version which is very different). Mahadeva is also a good classic but i probably heard it too much. Waiting for a new life is also fine - a bit boring maybe but with a cosy atmosphere. Besides that, there is a couple of acceptable tracks and some sporadically interesting moments through the compilation. The rest is crap. And by the way, a couple of the tracks (specially 'Van basten') isn't goatrance at all... verdict: 2-3/10 (if there is anyone out there who wants to buy it, you can buy mine for a good price)

  15. 9 and 10 out of 10 for this album?! Come on... This album is way too mainstram (like much of the israel goa stuff) to stay interesting. Even though I prefer melodic Goatrance from this era of time over effectbased psy-trance, I think Trust in trance is too much "pop-goa". In the beginning it sounds oh so good but after a while it becomes tiresome, also because the tracks are so similar in sound. I could do with just Kabalah og maybe People can fly... 4-5/10
