  1. mate, try the motu machfive sampler, that's sampler power!!! :-)))
  2. nemo, my two friends had also trouble with ddx3216, they were very very problematic, lot of construction troubles, fuckable faders etc. What i heard from my friend - reseller, they had to return almost 70% of 3216s they sold. Funny was that after those troubles behringer "surprisingly" minimized the price and made an action deal anyway, what's your prob with it ? i can ask my dealer..
  3. well, i have powerbook g4 1,5ghz and have logic 7.1 pro (for sale if anyone is interested) but i stopped working with it after two days. I consider myself as mac fan, i like to have both platforms working together. But i had to return back to PC to sequence. For me, logic 7 on powerbook g4-1,5 is crazy slow!! i hate those slow window redraws, it doesn't give me also much processing power (yeah, i prefer software). Overall i have feeling like working on my old pc computer i had 4 years ago. I was very surprised by this!! I have awaited something very different from macs. Anyway i've worked for a while on a PowerMac G5 2x2.0ghz with Logic 7, which was much much more powerfull, i agree, but anyway the interface was very slow for me (i hate slow redraws) It's not that much stable also as i would await. But i think this troubles are logic problems not macs. Anyway maybe that's only my bad luck that it worked like this, i was quite sad after seeing how it works in reality.. paroxysm: i'm having similiar setup just the mac is doing the rack, both connected thru rme adats and midi, works just nice after some first synchronization troubles
  4. i've heard the bx8, didn't like them much, for similiar money i would prefer the Tapco S8. (Tapco was the first name for Mackie Stuff). They play great, at least what i heard on them was good enough.
  5. guys, not sure if post like this is allowed on this forum, if not, please delete it and know i'm sorry.. i'm in low-money situation, so i'm selling off the original box Logic Pro 7.1, everything is in 100% condition, i received the box maybe month ago, it's april 2005 release, so it's already 7.1 version, no upgrade is necessary, everything is included, manuals, xskey, has full arsenal of instruments, effects, loops.. Stock price - 900-1000EU, my price 650EU www.apple.com/logic So if one of you guys are after logic pro, contact me at wired@timeflux.org boom shankaroo
  6. excellent track, going to contact you via IM..
  7. There's a lot of audioapps for osx, if you're begginer, use reason, if you want pro application go for logic 7 (it's from apple) or cubase sx 3, Maybe the good way is to check logic 7 express, which isn't such beast as the pro version, but it's much more cheap and you can make great stuff in it. It's good for every studio work you need.. If you plan to play live maybe check the ableton live .. cya
  8. demon, if you want high quality and let's say "final" solution for soundcard, go for rme fireface 800, it's superb quality, has digital mixing - this helps your cpu alot, i've read in some cases 20-30% cpu enhance. In future, when you will need more analogue inputs, you just buy professional AD converter and connect it digitaly via ADAT interface with the Fireface. You can't go wrong with this. But really depends on how much money you want to spend. Definitely for professional work, you don't need to upgrade your computer, you have to buy something around 3ghz with fast memories and harddisks, or if you want to be safe, buy a mac. If it's a lot of money, it depends if you do it for fun or do it professionally. For 1000EU, you can get quite good PC, p4-3ghz HT 800fsb, 1gb PC3200 ram, 160gb harddrive, with delta 1010lt which is ideal for home use (had it for some time, was great, you have lot of inputs and outputs, you can connect lines, mics, spdif, midi. or go for amd64 technology if you have software support, looks like first amd cpu i'm looking reviews for on net also, there is now behringer ddx3216 on sale very cheap, it is digital mixer with 16 motorized faders, the price is around 450-500EU, maybe it's not bad idea to put in the computer only the ADAT card (it costs around 150-170EU), rme for example, so your computer has digital 8in / 8 out (or put 2cards if you want) to ddx mix where you connect also your other devices (the ddx has also 16mic preamps i think). It's quite clean solution... Only thing why i also didn't bought ddx were these strange rumours around net talking about the construction quality of the mix, i'm in slovakia and waiting time when you order ddx is at least 6 weeks (there is no piece in shops), so when i image that the mix will be fucked up after a month and i will have to break my work and wait 2 months or longer till they gave me repaired unit is terrible imagination. But i'm not sure about this, some people are saying it's good, some bad and people that don't reviews on net are just happy when they buy and plug it mylo: if you put for example m-audio audiophile soundcard in celeron, then it's as significiant change as when you upgrade the cpu, the work is completely different. at least in logic, kx asio was so bad when i compare to m-audios ), was also less stable.. games are also realtime playback, few of my friends are fine with celeron, but they are definitely not doing psy music
  9. this a track bounce if i understand right. I think in cubase it's in export -> wave track or something similiar, you just have to solo the track (solo the midi track) so you don't record whole mix. You don't need to connect your output to input - if you need to record (vst) audio
  10. i'm waiting for powermac g5 2x2.5ghz. amd has no sense for me, i can't run logic on it (5.5.1 32bit version??) anyway, if there are optimized plugins like z3ta, i would go for amd and use it just as vst rack. what about g5 vs amd64 ? what i see is that my 1,5ghz g4 powerbook is very similiar power to my p4-3ghz.
  11. althrough someone said me that it's great, i never couldn't find bass on virus c that i would like. Virus is very strange in bottoms, for the gms fullontype bass, get a 303'like, if you want software, than use bassline from audiorealism, my studio mate says tbl bassline is better, i like audiorealism more, seems more accurate in space for me.. i can't say much about the hardware, i've heard novation basstation when psytrix was playing here and it was perfect, this is a good sure buy for this.. today i've installed the z3ta VIRUS mod, and i found one bass in presets that i like alot, so full clean almost hardware like sound, so maybe it's possible to screw it on virus also somehow, but mine goes tommorow away, i'm selling it and going to buy the Polar. what works best for me when doing bass is z3ta, almost perfect for what i like. for bass also for leads.. from time i have z3ta i used virus very ocassionaly
  12. Ola, i totally agree with e.p. searching for and learning a superduperworking psy receipt leads to nowhere, look at all those people that learned the superduperworking psy GMS receipt and there is todays so much music like this that psytrance music is now almost totally empty, this is nonsense. Make something that sounds good, it doesn't need to sound like something at all. Like in Caveman Valentine movie, you can't push the spirit into music, it must come from your inner self. I think also this is what is (or was) psytrance about.. anyway milo, what you wrote was the best that can someone begin with.. by the way, what about the headroom and the kick/bass mixing trouble on digital mixers? what do you people think about the quality of internal mixers from popular sequencers (logic,cubase...) what i hear is very very very big difference between logic and cubase, the sound (same presets, plugins and notes) is very different. What about using for example rme fireface 800 (56ch) and use the inner rme mixer for mixing (or let's say just put all the tracks together into one output through the device) sequencer outputs - this can do also dramatic change, or am i wrong? mixing two stereo outputs from computer on analogue desk (let's say 2-track in notebook, 1st track bass and kick, 2nd track everything else) makes dramatic change to sound, it sounds much better even on cheap behringer mix mates have in studio than just stereo out from the card. For the Bass, what i do for bass is also velocity. Maybe play with that. Try it like this: K---K---K---K kick bbbbbbbbbbb bass 1/16 - try to shorten the notes to 3/4 of 1/16 this makes also the bass, good for these fast vibrating basses _-' ' ' -_ this is velocity for bass as you see you set the note velocity of bass (that place under Kick) very low, so low that it doesn't make trouble with the kick and you can still hear that the bass is there. Also the next velocity settings - second note somewhere middle, third higher so the boom of this note is answering the kick, fourth note should be somewhere middle so the bass can get lower and prepare for the next kick but sometimes, less can be more personally, for good sounding kick drum and bass and their good mix i need three things, eq (4band is enough, lowband equalisers are also good for details), soft compressor and my dynaudios, i spent a year asking myself, shit, how can i get the bass and kick sound together good and nothing helped, then came the dynaudio beasts and aha! there is error, this should go bit lower and the result is great.. (i had really bad speakers before, some hifi crap, but with yamahas msp5 of my friend it wasn't much better).. this is what channel strip saving feature in logic is great for, i have few presets, it loads plugin, effects, all setuped and it's just fine, i don't need to bother with it in every new track again. last summer i had a tc finalizer for week test. was superquality. someone knows about good and cheaper alternative to this?
  13. common, put it somewhere where people don't need to signup..
  14. SoundBlaster + PC Logic with clicks and dirty signals is very common case. KX Drivers very very depends on your system performance, so if you have more complex setup then it makes the shit you're describing, like if applications have suddently much bigger priority than kx asio driver so it stops working correct. Only thing that always helped in cases like yours was throwing away sb & kx and buying for example cheap m-audio audiophile pci which is great asio studio card without problems like SB has, and costs somewhere around 100-120eu/$. This will definitely solve your problem. I also had sb & kx for some time and it was nightmare, i spent months setuping and tweaking the pc and the result was always very minimal, so it's question if it's worth of the time...
  15. I'm also on logic, as spindrift said, the final mixage that comes out of your sequencer should be very pure, without any dynamic processing on master. (it's always better idea to make good, accurate equalization on instruments than just compressing the signal) But i always put Waves L1 or L2 ultramaximizer on master, it's always bypassed, but during breaks i pass the signal through it to hear it bit processed (i set up the threshold level very low, somewhere around -1, -2db), so it's just for preview purposes, but very nice change to your listening sometimes.. (good thing on ultramaximizer is that in never goes beyond 0db) After you have clean mix from logic, process it (equalization, stereo image, dynamics) in wavelab or similiar soft that are made for this purpose..
  16. if you like 303 bass then audiorealism bassline or TBL is the best choice for you (gms type bass) i'm making basses with z3ta, definitely the most clean bass very very very great for those hyper clean psytrance basses (like those in azax syndrome, digital talk etc...) for bass in z3ta i setup 2 saw oscilators, very decent envelope on filter 1 cutoff (lowpass of course), i usually play with mod matrix more so note velocity influences cutoff and so, very great natural bass efect... i also add synchronized very decent delay, so the bass sounds more smooth (i don't like bass that sounds like distorted lead )) you will not hear this delay when the bass plays, but you hear when you play single note... using tbl and bassline is very very easy and straightforward but is very very limited to colour of sounds and features... if i won't forget i'll bring some samples.. cya
  17. you've seen this? oh how nice this one is, costs around 500$, unbelievable price for this g4 1,25ghz stuff, looking forward to get one (at least as an internet workstation in my studio)... by the way, i just bought dynaudio acoustics bm6a active monitors, i recommend them to everyone, i never heard such great sound with a lot of very very acourate >40hz bass , so if you're after midpriced monitors these are definitely the ones you're looking after..
  18. i'm selling my virus c desktop, perfect condition, 850 euros
  19. I agree with nemo, start with reason and when you will know why, move to cubase or logic It's all about experiencies (technical things, i'm not talking about talent
  20. Hmm, so after many hours spent on net i'm now choosing between dynaudio acoustics bm6a or bm15a the bm6a should be nice pair of great sounding nearfields bm15a delivers more power and subwoofer is not required for low bass one thing of i'm afraid is that if my studio room size (approx. 5m x 6x with few acoustic corrections) will be fine for bm15a fullrange.. what do you think guys ? anyone have experiencies with these dynaudios ?
  21. Thanks Nemo, As i looked over internet and reviews my choice is now: Mackie HR 824 Adam Audio P-22-A and for genelecs - 70hz-18khz is it enough ? i'm looking for something like 35-45hz - 20-22khz it would be nice if these monitors are not only for good mix but also good for a simple mastering (i know pro master requires lot of expensive equipment so i leave this on mastering studios, but it would be nice to do a "mastered" mix so i can play my tracks on parties right from studio)
  22. Ola my friends, i'm going to buy pair of new monitors: I'm choosing between these: Mackie HR 824 Dynaudio BM6A Genelec 1030APM or maybe someone recommend me something better for the price ? (around 700-800Euros for each speaker). It's going to be connected in my new studio together with yamaha 01x I'm living in god-forgotten country Slovakia and here is NOT possible to go to some shop and try to listen to these monitors so i really need your recommendations guys I need monitors that have also good bass (without subwoofer) Producing psytrance..
  23. My portalgate: P4 - 3ghz, 800fsb 2x512 dualchannel ddr400 asus p4p800 deluxe mb 2x seagate barracuda SATA 160gb (soon with two displays) My portable: Apple Powerbook G4 1,5ghz 15" Hardware: Access Virus C Desktop waiting for Alesis M1 Active monitors running on Logic Audio, favourite softwares: es2, z3ta, discovery, waves stuff, spectrasonics atmosphere, muon tau i'm very ok with this config

  25. ola mates, check my track at: http://efx.mine.nu/~wired/Pahana-ObeliskOfLight.mp3 It's blue crystal storm year track, i followed all the energies at days i was working on the track, finished it today / Yellow Galactic Sun Kin.. if the sound is strange, i'm sorry, i have shitty speakers now, but track will be (hopefully) mastered soon.. Any opinion is welcome Special Greetings to brothers Psytrix, Mr. Peculiar, Blue Storm and Portal Protection, and all Kins In Lak'ech, Pahana, Yellow Planetary Sun wired@efx.mine.nu
