  1. Nice to hear I'm not the only fan. Yup, great album.

I got hold of his first album some time ago. linky. You should check that too. More goa inspired, less full on but nice as well. I think I saw him at Boom in 2004 and he's just a freaking blast.

Or was at least ... B)

  2. It seems to me by looking at everyones pictures of their music collections, that everybody keeps the actual album cases that the cd originally came in. I take out the cd and booklet and discard the actual cd album plastic case. If it is a cd where the booklet is actually part of the album case, I will cut the front cover and tracklisting on the back out and throw away the remains. If it is the rare occasion that the booklet is part of the albums casing and it also has another booklet insert inside, then I will keep the cds original album case. If I kept every one of my cds original cases than I would have a stack of over 360 cd cases lying around the house which would take up way to much room. So if I were to take pictures of my collection it would have to be an individual picture for each page inside my case logic cd cases.

    Sacrilegious
  3. This is off topic but, your always talking about Ultimae Records. I already have Carbon Based Lifeforms World of Sleepers, and its great, but can you reccomend the top 2 or 3 Ultimae releases that are still available. Im really wanting to expand my ambient music collection a bit more and Ultimae seems to be the way to go.

    Hope okay I butt in.

Check Solar Fields Leaving Home, HUVA Network and Oxycanta. I really like those.

I would call it chill-out rather than ambient, though. I consider stuff like Brian Eno ambient and this CO, but I could be wrong -_-

  4. Yeah, with a car a lot of practical problems would be dealt with but it sounds expensive (also since I would be the only one to pay for it).

How much would renting a car for, say 9 days, add up to approx?

And how's it usually done - you come there with all your stuff or people also leave bm to purchase supplies? If the latter is the case funnily it feels less excessive to rent a car since I would actually use it and not just have it stucked up in the desert.

Which reminds me, does the weather fuck up the cars' paint? Since I would rent it I really could do without an extra invoice for a new paint!!

I hope you can bear with all my questions. I probably could find the answers on the bm site but you seem to know what you're talking about :)

  5. Thanks a lot for your advice :)

I guess I will be living off noodles for a week then ...

How's a good way to bring all the stuff with you? I mean, bringing water alone for a week in the desert sounds like a challenge.

How have you done it in the past?

The food I'm not so worried about. Noodles for a week can fit in a handbag. But water for a week? I guess maybe I'm too luxuriously minded but I also like some alcohol. Oh well, when in Rome ... <_<

I guess it's all psychedelics based so people just don't eat ^_^

In that case I just hope those vendors won't be hard to find B)

  6. Pure melodic old skool Goa bliss from back in the days. Well, actually this was released two years after the reign of the melodic school but this could might as well have been released in 1995. Some of it sounds very Astral Projection inspired but with a more sticky edge. Monotonous and … well, that and melodic. And like not much else released in 2000/2001.

My favourite is perhaps Universal Key that rose straight to my list of essential goa tunes. POOWW!! It’s taste, of course, but AP lovers should love this. Still, it competes with Initiated which is so ridiculously relentless it lacks words. Just coming at you. This is the dark edge of psytrance I fell in love with in the mid nineties. Yet maybe it’s even Sign Of Life that ends taking that prize. Combining dark with melodic it’s even more haunting. AUUCHH! And R.O.M. is not much worse! By this time the album is flowing into Neverland and I’m kicking my head I didn’t know about this album back in 2000. DOOIOOIOONG!

And with 3 Capital Letter exclamations in one comment an album can’t make a much better grade.

  7. You know, I will say listening to it now - and after not having heard it for months - there ARE lots of psychedelic FX.

    I stand corrected.

Still, I don't know. It doesn't get right under my bones for some reason. Different strokes for different folks, I guess ...

Anyway, did anyone here know that the quote in The Unknowns is based on poetry by former U.S. Secretary of defense D.H. Rumsfeld

Check the link here and search for unknown unknowns. He's used the phrase numerous times.

A good example is here (scroll about 2/5 down)

  8. Tent: less holes (mesh) = the better (if you don't have additional wind/dust/shade structure).

Footwear: for the day sandals work fine (with/without socks) - make sure you clean them at least once before you go to bed. For the night - whatever comfy broken shoes you have - you'll walk a lot during the night.

For additional advices go to bm site and read survival guide - most things mentioned there are true :) You can check also eplaya forum.

    Or PM me :)

Do you know who are you camping with yet?

PS. See you on the playa :)

Well, I may be going with 1 or two american friends, but they haven't decided yet if they are going. Also two friends from my home country may be going but I doubt it. I have no confirmations so as of today I will be coming alone.

The thing is I am travelling from Denmark and haven't been able to persuade anyone to go with me. Only a few of my friends are into far-out festivals etc.

But I've heard so much about this festival the sooner I go there the better. And if that means coming alone so be it. It doesn't bother me much.

Though if I got the chance to put my tent next to someone I know of course I'd do it.

Thanks for the advice. So a normal tent is workable also in the desert - it doesn't HAVE to be any kick-ass expensive tent.

And you are camping on sand, right? I know that the weather can change in a second but does storms occur regularly?

Oh well nevermind, I'll read the bm beginners guide and take it from there. I'm gonna bring what I've brought with me to Boom festival. That'll just have to work.

But perhaps one question; food and water. Is it really necessary to bring all that yourself? There are no places to buy these things? That sounds oddly cumbersome

  9. So I'm going to the burn this year for the first time.

Can someone enlighten me a bit what is good to bring?

Like I have a normal tent (you know, the classic cube). Is that worth anything in Nevada?

And what about footwear? Anything that comes in handy?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm travelling from Denmark so I'm gonna bring my stuff with me in a bagpack. And even though it's big I need to pack smart to have room for everything.

I know that Burning Man has a website where virgins can get some good advice too. I will check that too.

But if anyone here can give me some good, clean advice I'd sure appreciate that too :)

Anyone else going btw? Or that has been there before?

Damn, I can't wait to go!

  10. I didn't intend to start a bashing party, Skel. But it seems clear that there are a few too many people here that like to bash me (and others) for expressing an opinion, then have the audacity to claim that I'm saying to others that they cannot have one. Which I never did. Honest.

Still, if you have one on F.O.L., post away (perhaps in the reviews forum, though - we're seriously off-topic here :P ).

Edit: Thanks Seraph. Maybe it's my writing style, but I wasn't trying to be offensive.

Yeah Sorry, I was just bullshitting too. I didn't even really notice if there was a real fight. I was booooored. Too it seems.

But yeah, one day I will form an opinion on FOL and put it in the proper thread. For now I'm too busy trying to form an opinion on some german minimal prog.

Now we're really off topic

  11. I think both in a way. Or its just that many americans dont know about psytrance really. Or most americans are contempt with listening to just whats on the radio, or hiphop. Very shallow music. What kind of music a person listens to says alot about who they are. Music is a very personal thing. Bush did sign off on an anti rave act, under the the patriot act 2. It stated that officials were legally allowed to shut down a party for no reason at all, just because they were playing electronic music.

    for real

    That's like ... :( ... like  ... and after a while like
