  1. Steve Hillage!

I was wondering what you guys and girls think of this man?

I'm quite sure most of you might have heard of him, whether it be as former member of Gong, as one half of System 7 (together with Miqette Giraudy), or just as solo artist.

Naturally, most of his works as solo artist and as guitarist in Gong might not have anything to do with psytrance or ambient, but their music is highly psychedelic as far as I know.

I don't know that much about him, apart from some of his System 7 works and his "Rainbow Dome Musick" album from 1979, which I just happened to have received in the mail today. This is one brilliant ambient disc if you ask me! I know there's lots of "old" ambient(ish) music, from the likes of Brian Eno for instance, but still I was quite surprised when I first found out about Rainbow Dome Musick (being recorded in 1979), happily surprised I must say.

I'm just wondering if any of you are familiar with this particular album or any of his other works..recommendations perhaps?

    Discuss! :)

"With a career as long as psy-trance has history, Tristan has been a constant in the ever-changing outdoor festival scene for many years. Playing at some of the most important festivals across the globe, Tristan and his music has a massive following of dedicated fans who love his full-on journeys of deep gurgling psychedelia. Tristan’s innate sense of the dancefloor and full power psychedelic moments place him in a league of only the very highest calibre of producer. Having collaborated with pretty much every other ‘big’ name in trance at some point and releasing 2 classic albums for the famed Twisted Records, Tristan has moved into a new arena, and is now fully onboard with the NANO Records family, who are currently blazing a trail through psy-dom with their passionate approach to good times and good music!

Tristan’s third album ‘Chemisphere’ is his most monstrous to date, and can be summed up by 3 letters : B-I-G !!! A newly re-kitted studio and his studying of the guitar has added some new flavours to Tristan’s signature sound, ensuring that all his fans will be utterly satisfied by these new offerings, clearly his best work to date.

This is the sound of summer 2007, no holds barred psychedelic perfection, made for the dancefloor like only the big man can. "

"One of the most expected (or should I say unexpected?) albums of the year is about to drop.

Chameleon artist Andy Yakovlev (ProSect, Sonify, ICO) alone or together with Liron Atia are serving what they've been working on for the last couple of years. Extraordinairy musical talents bringing us an unbelievably-sounding fusion of goa trance and the most modern, well produced progressive trance. Sounds incredible? That's because it is.

After well appreciated releases on labels such as Tribal Vision, Psybooty, Iono Music and forthcoming gems on Genki Music, PAR-2, and Tranceform, the guys are bringing to us a special journey into a world of diversity. Moving from traditional solid PsyTrance sound to more progressive side of it and creating some unrepeatable dancefloor moments."

  4. Yes, and there is ONE MAJOR release from another Swedish coming on Iboga, but I dont know how Official that is, so I will keep my trap shut until this delicious music is out :)

Damn, I was kinda hoping for a certain Dane to release an album on Iboga :P:P (I think he's Danish)

Although if it's going to be a major Swede, then I'll probably not be complaining :D

Also, I'm wondering if there will be a new album from Gaudium, and if so on which label, since Spiral Trax is dead.

This is not coinciding with the above mentioned I presume?

  5. :o:rolleyes::D

Don't expect Vibrasphere - Exploring the Tributaries to sound like Archipelago by the way, it will be different, as they are stating on their myspace page.

As the title implies, this album will showcase a somewhat different side of their production- more experimental in nature it will range from downbeat/lounge right the way through to more club oriented material as well as minimal/electro.

I'm just hoping that there won't be too much track sounding like their widely popular 'Floating Free', I think it's a pretty good track but I'm not that crazy about it.

Considering the creativity and quality Vibrasphere have shown over the years, I'm quite convinced that the new album will be good. Even though their description of the album kind of sounds like they're hopping onto the bandwagon (eg going minimal/electro/club oriented etc), I think this album will stand out in its own way just like Archipelago did in my opinion.

    :)

I was just thinking about the new Tegma album on Tribal Vision, I have absolutely no idea what it's going to be like, but looking at the album title I wouldn't be convinced if they'll be trying out a bit of a new style as well. :)

I think there won't be much psy elements to be found on future Tribal Vision releases, correct me if I'm wrong though.

  6. To get additional excitement going, here's what the lads at Tribal Vision will offer us this year..

ps. actually I was hoping for a new Son Kite album to surface on Digital Structires in 2007, although as I understand they've been concentrating on their Minilogue project a lot (can't wait for their cd album+dvd release).

Also, a Jaïa remix album was supposed to be released on DS as far as I know but it any info about it seems to have vanished..
