Its funny how all the really good DJ's here *cough,cough,Pr0fane,cough,cough* never offer advice as to how they mix.

I suppose if you knew the BPM's of the tracks off by heart it would make it easier to mix. If one track was 145, and the other 148. you;d know it was only "slightly" faster. If i had all the BPM's of all the tracks written down in front of me, im sure it would make it a lot easier (and quicker) to get them in sync. I tend to sync them manually via the headphones until they are perfectly matched, then leave the pitch as it is.

Well, each to their own, but i never bother about knowing the BPM. i just mix. whats the point of knowing the BPM if your just gonna match it to the previous track's BPM anyways?

writing down BPM's is a cardinal SIN of mixing. It is simply unacceptable. The more you do it, the less decent DJ you will become. You need to be able to listen to both tracks at the same time, and judge which one needs to be sped up / down. Writing it down is WRONG!

I understand your opinion, and respect it. I dont agree with it though but we will have to agree to disagree on this.

There are certain things that I dont respect. Ego-driven on-the-fly opinion generation is one of them. Thats how you develop a solid personality. By having educated opinions on everything. And if you dont know something, accept you dont know enough to have an opinion, and find out about it. read up about it. Ask others about it. Experience it. Then develop an opinion, when you feel you know enought to have one. An opinion is a priviledge you have to work for. Otherwise its just uneducated ramblings that no one gives a toss about.

Yes, I personally beleive people shouldnt speak bullshit about things they know nothing of. But thats just a personal irritation of mine. My personal opinion is this: 1) Yes. I think Cinos needed a time-out from psynews. 2) I felt a 12 month ban was a little harsh. I would like to see Cinos back eventually. Hopefully, he can have his sentence reduced in the near future. 3) If and when Cinos returns, and he has not grown up at all, and his irritating behaviour continues, he should be banned forever. If I had issued out the ban, it would have been for about 3 months. Just enough time to get on with his life and do other things not involving psynews. Experiencing life, and hopefully one day, having an opinion thats actually based on experience.

Here is where I disagree with most people. Opinions can (or should) only be forged through fact or personal experience. On-the-fly opinions (perfected by Cinos) should be banned throughout the world, as it is the most idiotic waste of time ever conceived by man in the last 10,000 years. It simply has no place in the world today.

This only applies to people who have something "valid" to say. If its wrong, fair enough. But admit defeat when proven you are wrong, and dont argue for the sake of arguing. Thats childish and I have no time for it.

Again, you forget Mars can do what he wants. Cinos has been balancing on the edge of breaking the rules constantly. I appreciate a negative opinion. However, an opinion is a judgement, based on facts or experience. Therefor if your opinion is not based on fact or experience, it doesnt count as an opinion. Its just spam. Technically Cinos has done nothing but provide this forum with 10,000 spam posts. Is that not breaking the rules?
