  1. According to the Underground Man, excess consciousness is a disease. And I tend to agree with him. It weakens an organism and causes a lot of suffering. I can tell you from personal experience. Why do people name their tracks like "Expand Your Consciousness" and why do we listen to them? Do we not already have enough consciousness? Are we masochistic? Or are we doing it unwittingly....
  2. Too bad that's not psytrance. The only psytrance album I've really enjoyed, other than borderline stuff like The Delta: Scatterbrain - Infernal Angel Very awesome stuff there. Let me know if anything else even gets close to such a unique and talented sound. Edit: just checked and made sure it wasn't on Basilisk's essential list.
  3. The Bible is pretty good. Old Testament as a traditional fiction teleological interpretation of events. New Testament as a brainwashing campaign and taking over of the lower classes.
  4. Basilisk and his boyfriend are going to be licensed by psynews to post their homemade gay porn in every thread I take interest in? Seriously though, I bet your idea is something like "ignore you". Amirite? Unfortunately this forum is pretty much nothing without me. I'm the smartest member here. The controversy and discussion always revolves around me. Nobody could ignore me. I've watched this forum when I wasn't active for a few weeks and it's pretty boring. Everyone is basically waiting for me to return. Only a small minority actually wants me to be gone in the first place. Keep dreaming.
  5. Nobody reads huge-ass reviews anyways. Just type up a bunch of crap without even listening to the CD and nobody will be the wiser.
  6. Please tell us, I'm sure mars, nemo and myself would like to know. To current knowledge, I'm unbannable.
  7. Flickr is for homos 100%.
  8. Nobody here cares what the track list for your latest set is buddy. Email that shit to your mom, she'll congratulate you. This thread is about Suntrip Records not insolent fools basilisking in my triumph.
  9. I'm not trolling, your site really sucks. Sorry about that. If it ever takes off I'll eat my shoe. It's a lot worse than myspace and facebook which are already shitty. This particular social networking site doesn't even have anything to do with people you know, it's a whack load of people that listen to similar genres of music as you. The main reason your site is going to fail is because mainly intelligent people listen to chillout music, and these people, who are often even reclusive, don't waste their time on stupid social networking websites.
  10. No need to lie, anyone can go check out your website and see that what I'm saying is the truth.
  11. Goa has nothing to do with respecting people or love and peace or anything, sorry. Goa is a place on the map. Goa is also a type of music. The difference between goa and 4 other types of music is how the kick sounds and at what intervals the hihats are placed... that goes to show how stupid all these subgenres really are. Afgin is right about that. But we can still discuss the differences between newschool and older goa because there is quite a difference there, both temporally and in terms of sound.
  12. Yes Basilisk is gay, I thought everyone knew this already. Please put more purple and pink hues on ektoplazm site so people won't be confused. Just to clear up why Basilisk got angry at buddha, it's because Basilisk hates oldschool music and loves new psytrance. He puts a lot of effort into slandering goa trance. Just look at his essentials list for proof, it's mostly "goa trance releases leading towards psytrance" rather than the best releases. I guess you are me then, because everyone that posts anything controversial on psynews is me. Welcome to the club. Be careful though, I've seen a few unknown people get banned before because people pointed and shouted "bwhale".
  13. Nice nice. Well it's bound to sound oldschool since you're using older equipment, but that doesn't mean it can't sound unique too. Good luck on your new acid/goa trance album.
  14. It's a pretty good track and definitely sounds oldschool. I'd say very good, but it won't hold up to much stuff released in the early 90s. Still quite jealous here. Note that I'm not suggesting everyone should go backwards in technology, only that it was part of the particular magic of goa trance. The other half of the magic to goa trance (IMO) was the abundance of creativity. Different artists and albums had such unique sounds and atmospheres. Their tracks had a real personality, which I feel is often watered down in releases these days. I like when a release stands out completely from the others having a very unique sound. That's the icing on the cake that makes a CD 5/5 for me. I hope chillout releases can distinguish themselves better in the future, because other than that a lot of them sound excellent already. We have a very wide range of possible sounds in electronic music, I wish they'd get used more! I consider something like the Will-O-The-Wisp album a great example.
  15. I think the simplicity played an important role in oldschool goa. Tracks never start out with 20 different sounds playing at once. They start with a couple, and slowly add a couple more over and over. As they add them, they manipulate them and make beautiful music out of the sounds currently present. In this way they prove every sound belongs there and shows their brilliance at blending sounds together. Tracks were long and built up slowly throughout, allowing us to admire the artistry the whole way through. As we are able to comprehend the entire buildup of the track and the place of every sound in the whole, the music seems very deep. It's as though we are watching a beautiful thing evolve. Newschool goa is a lot different and partly because of the new technology. These tracks are usually changing way too fast to fully comprehend them. They seem a bit more superficial because they flit all over with sounds. I'm listening to a Filteria track right now and the entire track basically sounds like the climax of a Pleiadians track. While this may seem nice, climaxes are always going to be superficial unless you get a big buildup before them. Climaxes should be your reward for paying attention for the last 5+ minutes. Pleiadians IFO is nice, but let's not get the wrong impression from it. Stuff like THIS are the real gems from Etnica. It's only because Etnica has made tracks like this first that IFO can be appreciated. As far as I'm aware, nobody in the chill scene has even made something as nice. Nobody in the newschool goa scene has dared dropping their BPM below 150 yet (), so no chance there. P.S. I saw Agneton mentioned earlier and I agree, it's great. Since the Ethereal album, only Ra and Agneton after that are with my goa trance collection.
  16. I am quite happy listening to ambient and chillout music without needing to join an international social network about it. Why would anyone use this stupid crap? They must have no life and no brains either.
  17. Which is not what artists do if they try to express other people from 15 years ago. Moar creativity please. Less trying to fit into a certain definition, to resurrect a certain old form, to copy something already done. That's all we're saying. Nothing. I love older music. None of this newschool goa stuff sounds like old goa trance. Some of it is still OK music, but let's stop pretending it's going to be the old stuff back again. That's not even desirable. The only reason I call it newschool goa is for lack of a new term for it.
  18. Elysium, There will always be borderline cases. And you could call your music whatever you like, but if it fits the "definition" of goa trance, then people will probably call it that.
  19. Nothing exists for millions of years in a static state. Species evolve at different rates, sure. I don't see what this has to do with ANYTHING. It was just an analogy. Goa trance has changed and you can't bring it back. But waste the next 10 years trying if you want. I find it quite funny watching your stupidity actually.
  20. You guys are a bit ridiculous. Do you see people trying to revive old synthpop? Old techno & classic trance? No, they're all basically dead. Better to say they've evolved. They evolved into goa trance and other genres, which are also evolving. Goa trance is now evolved into psytrance 10 years ago. These genres are just major abstractions, just like "species" in animals. All music always changing, getting better, and you guys are like stupid people trying to "save" some species of animal without realizing that species naturally must evolve and change, that they are never static, and that trying to artificially preserve them is dumb.
  21. Good question. I followed goa trance a lot, listened to all the releases even the stuff that was crap. (But most of it is my favorite music!) I don't follow psytrance. Listened to a few releases from here and there and only found an odd few that were good compared with oldschool goa. Now I am following chillout. I listen to most of it that I can, even though lots of it is crap also. I try to give them all a chance. I'm also following ambient [& ambient techno, old IDM] retroactively and discovered there are a lot of gems over the years. I basically stop following genres that are dead (goa, classic trance), other than the odd rare release that might pop up. The goal is to hear good music. When I find a genre with some potential for me to really like it, then I try to listen to all the stuff I might like. It's hard to find stuff outside the genres you already know because it takes many listens often to understand them.
  22. Goa trance is done and you guys should move on. Trying to revive old music will never work. The creativity ran its course and the good artists moved on (now many in the psychill scene). No good artists try to remake something that has already eclipsed. Of course goa trance can be built on in many ways. Ra's new album is a good example. It's not trying to be like any oldschool goa trance, it's forging something new. But there aren't many artists working on that and you shouldn't try to force it because the result will be (and has been) a lot of crap.
  23. Liked their first album a lot. Quite old now. You can hear it all on their site. http://www.esposthumus.com/ Is it just me, or does Asura - Golgotha really remind you of them? Every time I hear it.
