  1. explore new buildings

Oh, you are so right about that ... I looove different locations, oh that's so cool running around inmidst an industrial area, desperately seeking some old factory in that area - and just as you want to give up you find it, it's the coolest ... though parties are still official it's awesome, I love it!
  2. Mmmh ... I can't contribute with psychedelic melancholic tracks (IMHO this doesn't really fit ... when I listen to psy I wanna be happy or at least not melancholic, but this is just my opinion), but I can recommend some non-psy tracks:

Aria One - Dido (Armin Van Buuren's Universal Religion Mix) is melancholic, but it develops to uplifting trance, I don't know if you like that. It's a great track though, I really don't like trance anymore, but this track is still good!

Plastic Boy - Silver Bath ... somehow the same as the one above, only I'm finding it not that great.

Wolfsheim is melancholic ... if you want it cheese-trancy check out "Wundervoll (Blank & Jones Remix)", if you don't want it that cheesy try the album version of the track, this one's far better IMHO. Other Wolfsheim stuff is very good too, like "In Time", "The Sparrows And The Nightingales" or "Find You're Here" ... but that's getting far from trance...

BTW, I would not call Digitalis - Kyphi melancholic...

  3. Sorry mate but apart from Atmos you can hardly consider Human Blue and S-Range for progressive ;-)  Human Blue is quite Full On now and S-Range have never been progressive.

I disagree. Listen to S-Range's older stuff, like Micron Transponder, Illegal Software, Black Lotus, Complete Delete or DNA Trackers and you will hear that he has indeed once been pretty progressive.

Of course meanwhile S-Range's style has changed much, but I just wanted to add my 2 cents :)

  4. I knew that this thread would still exist!

So I'm gonna bring it back up :)

nowadays j.m.j has a lot of money to create big events with a phantastic lightshow and so on. but his music totally lacks in inspiration. it's just random noise.

Harsh words. I wouldn't say that. Jarre has changed, that's a fact, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Metamorphoses is very different to Oxygene (though some tracks aren't that much at all - Millions Of Stars for example), but I still like it - and C'est La Vie is an absolute gem IMHO.
  5. I remember Antix' stuff very well (on every Plastik Park compi there's a track by Antix) ... for me the best word to describe their sound is plastik. It just sounds plastik.

I began to like it, then began to hate it and now I somehow begin to like it again ... it's weird...

  6. I think that the music ... and mostly the electronic music, is alive because people have to escape off the reality ... psytrance is well known for searching to leave the world and its problem...

    I absoulutely agree!

Music shall be about fiction - about flights over strange planets and worlds, alien cities, unreal landscapes, odd creatures ... about everythng but reality. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not interested in music about reality, that's nothing for me, really ... it's also the reason why I dislike many HipHop music, because the text is about some crackdealers getting fucked up or conflicts going on, I'm not interested in that, really.

So I don't think I'll ever buy Zoo-B ... not even if I saw it on a CD market for two Euro...

  7. This might sound a bit cheesy, I know :)

But I'm just on this retro-wave now ... and you surely all remember that film Mortal Kombat (even I have seen it though I don't watch many films). And many of you surely also know the THEME of that film. Well, I know it and though it sounds cheesy and techno-ish and not that good at all actually it's so wonderfully retro and I just love the "Mortal Kombat!"-scream!

Well, to cut it short ... are there any psytrance remixes of the Mortal Kombat theme?

Or if not, do you know any songs that use samples of Mortal Kombat? At least the scream ... it would be just great if it only had that "Mortal Kombat!"-scream in it ... hehehe :)

Please, don't you have some tips?

  8. I'm sure the one above is Bruce!

No, seriously, I have no clue as I unfortunately haven't been there.

But it's a bad, bad, bad thing to hear there were robberies at Boom. It shows actually that the evil doers are at the source, at the festival itself! That makes me angry. And sad.

I hope someone can identify those shitheads

  9. I don't like fast bpm either. The bpm hasn't so much effect on how rocking a track can be.

    I suggest:

    Penta - 1001 Hangovers

    Delirious - Analog Booster

    Space Buddha - Acid Prophecy

    Neuromotor - Black Planet

    Azax Syndrom - Shockwave

    ...

  10. But I'm a bit shocked by the image you have from trance parties. I've been to a lot of trance parties (I mean commercial ones), big ones with names like Tiesto and smaller ones organised by private people. And there never ever was a fist fight or anything like this!

    (...)

But that's of course in peacfull little Switzerland...

This may not even be wrong.

I have been a trance/techno head before (luckily) discovering goa and psy. Of course I also have visited some events in that direction ... seen artists like Mauro Picotto, Jaspa Jones, Beam & Yanou and what all that crap is called. And what I can say about the techno/trance scene is, that it's frequently visited by skins, "prolets" (I don't know if that's an official term, here in Austria we call 'em so) with their "Rotterdam Terror Corps" T-shirts, E-heads jumping around madly and disturbing people, kiddies with their bottle of "Eristoff Ice" in hand and others - in this category there are also some intelligent and peaceful people, but not many. And the most stupid people you can find in the techno scene, on those Biosphere events ... aaargh, I don't even want to think about it, I wasted so much money to go to an event full of shitheads...

As I came first to a psy party I could FEEL the happiness of the people - people were not looking angrily and making comments like "fuck off" when I accidentally bumped into them while dancing, they were smiling! And I loved, loved, loved the music, it was such a difference to the techno shit that's always the same ... this music felt like energy reaching into my brain, my whole body in a salad of sounds, it was awesome (BTW ... the only DJ name on that gig I still remember was P_Mac - and as far as I know that guy also rocked the Boom festival this year, so I truly enjoyed a great set)! And I could talk hours and hours about the decoration - there were blacklight blankets everywhere, the whole little club was full of them and it was sooo beautiful, I have never seen anything like it before! And the people were so cool, everything so cool there, even the smell - a mixture of mostly incense sticks and weed smell. Great! So great that I never looked out for any techno party any more - from that time on psy had got me!

And I hope it will never release me again...

  11. he is still making music, but only ambient

Right - and this under the name Elektron Wave.

From this project I only know the track "Chromatic Aberation", but this one is really calm ... good stuff, not epic synthy, but calm...

  12. but i guess i have to accept it for what it is, electro, and not psy

Absolutely! I do not actually own that album, but I checked out the "radio edit" of Cities Of The Future from their site and it can't be filed under "genuine" psy anymore. But actually this is not even bad, I like it when artists try to experiment with new stuff and those "Cities Of The Future" don't sound bad actually. Yes, Infected has switched their style for I also know and like their old stuff, but well, everyone of us continually grows up, gains experiences, changes styles, whatever - that's not a reason to bitch about Infected.

However, a reason to bitch about them is the fact that their music is already on the way of getting commercial (and that they WANT it that way!) ... and I don't want to see Infected on MTV one day, that would be horrible for me as millions of morons would jack off to the music and radio stations will start to play them and they will get overplayed like all the commercial crap and not a long time afterwards psytrance festivals will be overcrowded with techno-shitheads and hardcore-skins who came to this music through infected and they will bring bad, agressive vibrations and- ... nonono, I don't even want to think about it!
