  2. I've been wondering this a while now. I remember when in 08' I started listening to goatrance a lot. Suddenly I also found satisfaction and interest in buying CD's. Back then there was no bandcamp, spotify or most tracks on youtube. Of course you could always torrent the music, but there were no digital formats that I personally felt were worth it. I started buying CD's from those releases I enjoyed the most. Obviously this eventually led me to the alice in wonderland moment of finding discogs and seeing all these amazing old releases on physical formats.

Now that we have a lot of labels re-releasing tracks digitally in all platforms, does this actually affect the buying habits of new fans? Do new fans and enthusiasts even care for owning these sonic masterpieces on physical formats?

I personally have special this feeling of ownership with the physical releases, it's just not the same when you stream the music. However when I hit a critical mass of releases (in my opinion) I started buying a lot less.

the old theme with the update looked a little broken but with penzonews it's all fine now. i actually like the new look. if i were pressed to find an issue, then i'd say that the new sidebar takes too much space away from the posts in some threads, but that really doesn't make a lot of a difference.

I'll see if we can do something to make it smaller.

Yes and the penzonews theme also has all the other issues I've noticed fixed. Psynews logo normal size, the standard login is available etc. So yeah changing it to default and temporarily disable the current default one will solve a lot of headache :)

As a bonus it is a very nice color scheme for the eyes. Everything feels more clear and easy to read.

This new theme + the forum update I suppose, has the same snappy browsing experience as an app. A bit like the reddit app.

Yeah it does feel a lot smoother, especially on mobile.

  4. Hi all!

So we've gone ahead and upgrade the board to version 4.5.2 which brought new features for the board. The mobile interface should be much better now and some new smaller features have also slipped in.

Upgrading the board however broke the old BlueBoh and Black Chrome themes pretty badly and I've manually created a color profile for psynews called Penzonews and set it as default theme.

If you find new glitches or bugs please post them on this thread. We will see if there is something we can do about it. Don't bother requesting features since I don't think any of us know how to code that deep. :P

  5. Members can set their own title after 2,000 content items and yes the title changes in specific increments. I'll still advice not to spam pointlessly.

Oh @RTP How do I insert 'Hidden Content' Expandable drop boxes? Like what some of the users have? I would probably want to use this for written scripts for people to read as they are pretty long.image.png.9d8ee5e38aa0c6e26f991c941dd3b388.png

What you have here are some of the older tracks from E-Mantra remastered and some re-released. As a prelude to this short review - I always found Voyager II from Opus Iridium to be perhaps the greatest E-Mantra track. It's extraordinarily brooding science fiction soundscape through the dark void of space had me hooked to his sound before his debut album Arcana. Since then his sound has evolved in many ways. First it became more melodic and uplifting with Pathfinder and then going back to a darker sound of Nemesis. Stapanii Timpului being his latest effort in what represents almost a mix of all of his previous efforts. His sound evolved into a more immaculate style throughout the albums where the rawness of afromentioned Voyager II's sound got refined time and time again and many tracks had uplifting melodic climaxes rather than dark and agressive ones.

This 7 track special album presents these older, more agressive tones. The style is already very recognizable akin any later input, but I personally found his earlier music quite endearing. All but tracks 5 and 6 engulf the listener into a journey like what the track on Opus Iridium achieved. Hypnotic psychedelic soundscapes that immerse the listener and encompass the best of science fiction trance. Wholly recommended.

  8. I do understand the need for taking a break etc. but transparency and informing your fans goes a long way rather than being silent and having a lot of things happen. People are passionate about the music and I feel speculation over oddities is only natural as they care about the label. Great news that everything should get back in order though. :)

"In celebration of my 20th year as a psytrance artist I have chosen here a selection of my older tracks ranging from 2001 to 2006. Some of them are quite bad sound quality-wise but listenable.
All of the tracks are done with Fruity Loops 2.70 (those of you who remember the version will know immediately what a pain it was) :D Enjoy & have a good time all the time."

I asked him to share these tracks sometime ago, said perhaps and I'm soooo happy he finally did. If anyone remembers, I hyped nebula before because of tracks like these. Epitome of Psychedelic goa with a suomi twist. Ego Hunter is madness if you need a track to start with. :)
