Hiding behind the Cosmic Warrior name is veteran producer Steve Morley, also a part of Cathar, Sonic Wave Control and System E, baring his soul on this highly personal album. The title ‘Through My Eyes’ perfectly describes how he sees his life and the world in general through the universal language of music. The personal aspect on the album comes to the forefront in many of the tracks, drawing on his Middle Eastern roots and classical music education resulting in a very distinct and inviting sound. After signing his first record deal in 1992, things happened fast and many big selling records saw his star rising as a record producer, live PA and DJ. The use of many aliases enabled him to make different styles of music and create a situation that allowed him to release many records in a short period of time. By 1998 his discography was so big that most DJ's in the world had at least one of his releases in their record box; resulting in massive support of his works. That year brought him instant recognition and success all over the world with Dave Holmes 'Samsara', Steve Morley 'Reincarnations' and Soulman 'Put your house'. This resulted in him signing exclusively as Alici to Cream and was the first artist ever to release on the label. After the signing of Starchild 'Redemption' to Slinky, Alici decided it was time to move to the UK. After a period of intensive DJing and working on more commercial projects, the time had come to return to his first love; Trance. Being one half of the psychedelic -trance act Cathar has seen him sign to Free-Spirit Records with an upcoming EP and Album scheduled for release soon. However Alici (never one to sit still) like all good artists, is evolving and widening his musical span and now is excited to bring you the - ‘Cosmic Warrior’! Look no further for a prime example than the latest release on Free-Spirit a feature length album called Athvika from producer Shalys. His birth certificate may reveal he is from Nantes in North West France but his tunes prove him to be a fine upstanding member of the psy-universe. DJing since 2006 and making music not long after Shalys has steadily crafted his skills in both forms so that all those with an appreciation of his mastery can happily say that the progression to this current point in time has been a journey a crest a wave of increasing intensity with the shore that it is set to break upon still far off into the distance. Athvika full-on both in the psy definition and that the rest of the world interprets it to mean. Nine tracks forming a singular entity that lays its credentials out early then surpasses them from that moment onwards which will result in varying behavioural responses but for this listener it meant a slowing surging resting heart rate, a subconsciousness foot tapping and an ever-increasing need to dance. In 2001 he began making music for fun with a groovy, psychedelic style, but only started to become truly passionate about music when he began his DJ career in 2006. He was soon playing at many parties in France, his obvious enjoyment behind the decks passing through to the public. In 2007 he began producing Full On seriously under the project Shalys, working every day to improve his style and 2010 saw the release of his first tracks. He also has a second progressive project called Spacediver which he started in 2009. Luckily for us, it means that whatever our own mood or occasion there is a Ralph K creation to match. Solar Spectrum is just one of these, the list of the others too long to mention, and if it elicits a response surely it is one that involves some, either literal or figurative, chin stroking and foot tapping. The kind of standard reflexive reaction expected from ambient/progressive psy-trance but don’t for a second believe that is all you get, for Solar Spectrum, as evidenced by his new EP Particle Accelerator on Free-Spirit Records, is a refreshingly complex beast. Prone to moments of achingly accurate and intelligent insight but also graceful enough to provide scope for own perceptions that, once enunciated, have a clarity that satisfies. With occasions when your attention is grabbed and focus is firmly fixated on the soundscape being generated whilst others where the grip is loosened so that, like a balloon that has been released to the winds, the spirit is happy to drift without a pre-determined destination. A reflection of the fluctuations experienced in our own daily lives so that Solar Spectrum feels like a part of us that has been gently encouraged to emerge and become another component of our being; a persona in which we can all participate. Playing piano from age 12, he moved on to drums and guitar but remained a keyboard player foremost; playing in school and college bands. At University he studied Japanese Language, became the 'Equipment Manager' - and promoted the Flat Press electronic nights in Winchester City, spinning vinyl such as Orbital, F.S.O.L and Black Dog Productions - Rob also had a hand in the early 90's London squat party Zero Gravity ~ hosting regular names such as Cloggi, Quark, Sonic, Justin & Aaron Liberator, Dave the Drummer and the Club Dog crew. Often journeying to festivals and parties through the 90's Rob followed the Techno road until 1995 when a friend played him a Tsuyoshi Suzuki mix and he discovered Goa Trance. Moving out to Australia he fell into the DOOF parties and PsyTrance following the flow back through Asia he returned to London and in 2000 began producing psytrance under the name Monastic Squid; releasing previously on Alchemy Records and Procyon Records. Teaming up with good friend and Progressive Producer DJ Marcello (CIMI) together as M-THEORY (Alchemy Records) - MonasticSquid has continued to swim in the depths of the London Underground Scene - surfacing only at night time to feed.......!
