  1. I lived in Goa for about 4 months and volunteered as a teacher in a high school. I have seen many different sides to Goa, and I'd be happy to help with more specific questions - email me. take care, bomble
  2. I do love stats oh yes I doooooo bomble
  3. Generally if it look fluorescent it will be UV active ... but different paints have different opacities when the are under the uv light. Good uv paints look opaque under uv where some cheaper ones can look a bit washed out. Perhaps you should get yourself a tester or even take a hand-held uv lamp and check out the paint at the store (I have a uv strip lamp that works in a camping flashlight). The other way to tell is to compare the apparent colour of the paint in daylight with that under ordinary fluorescent office lighting. Ordinary fluorescent lights have a higher proportion of uv anyway, and so if the paint seems more active under strip lights, then it will also be more active in full uv. bomble
  4. I'll have what she's having
  5. Huxflux 'cryptic crunch' ... I suspect this might have been a joke ! The album is one of my alltime favourites, but the pixellated illegible cover looks worse than any pirated junk. I don't mind in the least because most of the time my cd's are either playing or lined up end-on !! I quite like the Geomantik cover, though there were many better from Matsuri (Transwave's Helium for example). Also I think the Gathering cover is striking if not particularly pleasant. bomble
  6. DAT has a higher sampling rate and lower compression than minidisc, which is good for the really intricate stuff ... but for many purposes minidisc is the easiest option. I don't know about connections - I think that's dependent on the model bomble
  7. I posted a load of suggestions when this topic came up in the off-topic section .... bomble
  8. Same thing with the Spaceships of the Imagination ... all good tunes but only if you hadn't been stocking for a while. Better this than a quality label like TIPworld ends up short of money though - psy trance is not a lucrative business compared to other music forms. bomble

    Female DJ

Other than those mentioned, I think most female dj's end up in music like hard house, garage and d&b. I suspect it's because psy is a bit on the weird side - similar to sci-fi in some respects ... same sort of ratio ! bomble
  10. Ebeneezer Goode (by the Shamen) eeezer goode eeezer goode etc was obviously e's are good ... I think there are lots of others but my brain's being weak. bomble go look in the off topic section for my psychoactive word games post.... bomble
  11. There's a bunch in England - some of which might be discontinued. As well as Dream Creation (which was superb) and Implant, there's shangri-la-la and Peek magazine. They're free and can be pretty interesting, but none have reached the excellence that DC had in about 96/97.

    V/A - Floatation

I would agree with ganjalien that if you have and don't like Twelve, Wabi or that sort of thing then this is not for you ... but I do like those and I do love this !! bomble
  13. For chilling purposes ... Alien Soap Opera

Artists on a similar but different tip ... Plaid, Global Communication, Biosphere,

  16. There's a Homer sample on Mumbo Jumbo's 'Weird Sick Twisted' but I don't think its the same one. bomble
  17. The UK psy scene is for some reason full of 'public school' kids - myself included (i.e fee paying schools). As a group they are rarely too far from money, and hence a bit of extended travel is quite easily done. The psy scene should be one that embraces alternative ways of living, but it couldn't exist on the scale that it does if we didn't live in a culture that consumes & is happy to pay for the experience. It's also very easy to travel without learning anything - and much harder to learn about yourself. "not in seeing new things, but in having new eyes....." bomble

    la4 live!

I like a bit of lab4 sometimes, and they sure do know how to put on a live set. Evilution has a live disc I think and it sounds like a wild time! My brother went to several lab4 live sets as he was living in Oxford (where they are from) last year. He's only got good things to say about them really. bomble
  21. Sounds like my kind of deal - I have reviewed several of the chillout albums on this site ... I'll take a look. bomble
  22. I know that a few of my friends who do live sets recommend getting a laptop with all the tracks etc. on an external hard drive. The drive can be very stable, small and probably less fragile. Plus if you know that there will be a computer on site, you don't need to take the laptop. I am a Mac abUser too - I picked up an old one for £50 and it can handle sound very well as far as I can see. The problem with compatability is generally from Mac to PC and not often the other way round. I don't think that Mac's are way better than pc's but I invested the time in learning how macs work. My brother is an illustrator and he has a G4 which is a fabulous beast, if you can afford one ... bomble

    Generators

How about wiring up about 10 exercise bikes or rowing machines to a high efficiency dynamo - should get enough power for sound system and lighting and can use all the fit volunteers that a trancefloor could provide (think of it as an admission fee to your party). Environmentally friendly, good for the health of the trancers and sociable. bomble
