  1. check out some ZMA recs releases VA - A Step Beyond VA - Battle Royal especially track SENSUM - Mental Floss @ VA - Battle Royal is a really nice piece of morning progressive trance
  2. my fave iboga release is VA Mixture / Constance Journey http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/ibo/ibo1cd009.html for me very special one, containing sleazy dark tracks slow house rhythm, though, but there is a lot of sounds like from sewage system reminds me a style that was played by john digweed 'round 1999-2000.
  3. in the night i'd start with dark nebula - lucifer in the sky with diamonds :] this one's got great intro now seriously - i think that artifakt-right foot (piano intro) is good for a start of night fullon set (not darkpsy madness). but maybe this track is overused.
  4. thanx, i'm still checkin my topic of course but most of the recommendations does not match my taste; i think that people should read more carefully the first post and know some tracks from the list.
  5. tim schuldt - one step closer jupiter 8000 - bit fire megadeth - killing road (shift remix) :]] b.e.t.h. - blighty tim schuldt - pale dark soho - save me god rmx dark soho & anouska shankar - long way home dark soho - depth of emotion hope i gave you some new tracknames.
  6. xenomorph - maladjusted noise experiments. no doubt about it. this new track erases everything, that was ever created in the psy scene. something new begins. thanx and congratulations to mark petrick.
  7. so, some new promising releases are on the horizons ! VA - Lhiannon Sidhe (Mistress Of Evil records) featuring Xenomorph, Ghreg On Earth, Para Halu, Mussy Moody etc. VA - Unhinged (Last Possible Solution records) featuring N.R.S./Green Reefah, Scorb, R.A.M. etc. watch out for those two ! first one is containing the darkest hell psytrance i ever found, check out 4minute long samples at saikosounds. the second one seems to be more progressively oriented, but still very deep & dark. i do expect high quality production from the ambivalent staff :]
  8. hi, i was also searching for sharper type of party-progressive trance check out the last horns & hoofs compil - va the dissidents there are sharp tracks by progus, neoris & cybered zma's compil battle royal is imho best progressive release for 2004 so far. (good tracks by sun control species, sensient, tetraktys & sensum (!!!)) finally, you should check out an old 2002 compil from ambivalent records (va creeping ambivalent tendencies), you can find there more techno-oriented tracks (deviant species vs charasmatix, neural rectifier syndrome, data transfer switch etc.) another nrs dark progressive track is a one called "face of the comet" (va contra polar activity). nrs is about to release debut album s00n (i've read about 8th oct.), and he made a new track "resurge" (to be released at last possible solution records..) i hope i brought you some tips that'll catch you :]
  9. Ale :: Yes, buy Miraculix. New Album Arrival is much more melodic than Detonator.. there are more melodic layers with oldschool themes. I think you ll like it. Seventh (or eighth ..not sure) track on the arrival album is pure goa..
  10. steptime's timecode is imho very emotional track
  11. steptime - timecode (stoneage 2004, orebro freakfactory 3) dark soho - the h (alchemy 2002; combustion album) ibex - output it (balloonia 2004; va outsider) gmt - negative gain (kukumi recs 2000; va-chapel perilous) neoris - land of tears (horns & hoofs 2004; va-dissidents) progus - trancezistor (horns & hoofs 2004; va-dissidents) my fave melancholic psytrance tracks. great production & great musical thoughts. real encyclopedia of moods :] check'em out, hope you'll like it.
  12. when i try to signup for paypal acct, the country selection pulldown menu does not offer the choice for 'czech republic'. so this is the one and simple reason. it sux big time, since we're joined eu in may/2k4. so i'm seeking another way of paying for steptime/spindrift tracks from resonant earth com.
  13. yeah shiva power and three rings r0ck !! but that's two years old stuff i think that every dark trancer knows about this one :]
  14. hi leo, thanx for the link spindrift - glitch and steptime - larsen b are great i like steptime/spindrift style. something far different from the 'default psytrance' keep freak factories running at full power :] is there any other way how can i donate $$ for tracks ? i don't have paypal acct, it doesn't work well for .cz thx.
  15. eheh :] that was my first label where i started searching (around 2001?) for dark music :] i heard their stuff (especially signal,ka-sol,buddhas) at parties.. it fried my brain so i had to ask djs what the hell is this :]] great label.. ..hm still nothing else?
  16. seraph - my experience is that newcomers always make the best music :] they bring new ideas, new sounds. after several singles they're assimilated by the psy scene and their new tracks are just like thousands of others :] does not fit 100%, but for the big majority
  17. Lepton: this stuff is - in general - exactly that type which i dislike :] maybe i did not describe my fave tracks well. ok, there's ka-sol, gow and seroxat there, but that does not mean that all other _stuff-like-this_ must be good too... orebro 3 and scatterbrain rocks, of course, but i mentioned scatterbrain in my post, i already have original cd :] excellent release. thanx anyway.
  18. hi all dark trance fans who like to be scared a bit on the floor :] i'm looking for some good dark tracks, which are still harder to find here is some description of what it should sound like - great rhythmics (hard and steady bassline with not a big range of tones (fullon types of bassline with many different short tones which shake with my stomach are annoying me). i like tracks with good percusions and many metallic samples which help the rhythmics to work like a heavy machinery that shatters all your bones. - very dark, gothic, scary, horror atmosphere created with a good combination of melodic layers (who listened to scatterbrain's pads knows what i'm talking about. swedish project steptime works with mellody also very well) - track development. track starts, and ends. you always know, which section of the track you are listening to. there is NO stupid repetition of simple acid lines for all six minutes. (ka-sol -trum drum and neural rectifier syndrome - face of the comet stand here for a good example) i prefere tracks that are NOT focused on 'putting all the messy layers over and over and make the biggest noise possible. hm whattha hell i need to make a new track, so here i grab the bassline and kickdrum which i've used hundredtimes before, and now put some pseudodark samples above it.'(fungus funk, kindzadza, azax syndrome, psychotic micro) now there are some examples of tracks that really impressed me. some of them are quite old - time has checked their quality. Neural Rectifier Syndrome - Face Of The Comet (VA - Contra Polar Activity, AMBCD4) my absolute number one since spring 2003, when it was released. the rhythmics is excellent, best one i ever heard. little bit breaks after the start of the track (different placement of snares and percussions),but then it's steady again and the snares get harder when you approach the end. this track developes also in a rhytmical way, very interesting fact. the mood here is very dark; industrial dark ambient pads makes you scared. that's what i'm looking for. Ka-Sol - Trum Drum (VA - Őrebro Freakfactory 2, STONECD002) not the best rhythmics (wierd samples of kickdrum and bassline.. but still acceptable). the strength of this track is in excellent development of melodic thoughts. more and more layers are coming throughout the track, where one layer helps to express the another. great cooperation, no noise or something that sounds messy. the end of 'trum drum' is just psychedelic opera. this track changes your mind about 'psychedelic trance'. Ibex - Output It (VA - Outsider, BALLCD07) quite fullon bassline (hopefully not so many high tones), but still the rhythmics and percussions are ok. what amazed me - melodic layers. great atmosphere. Zerotonine - Sorgenschleifer (VA - U-Boot Berlin, SPAREP01) very deep and hard bassline that pushes your head down to the ground. fairytale from sewage systems. all those echoed sounds rise from the underground tunnels in symbiosis with rhythm... and the melody near the end of the track is just impossible to describe by words. Grapes Of Wrath - The Clit Commander (Insane Behavior Remix) (VA - Psychedelically Yours 2, PRVCD06) the only track by GOW which i like from start till end. a bit different from thoughts mentioned above. actually, this one is not dark, but happy. when i first listened to this one, i thought that GOW are about to start producing house listen to the rhythmics, it's just like house this one has great ass-kickin rhythm, the track rolls from start till end. very interesting choice of samples which makes this one far different from other tracks. Seroxat - Mental-Distorted (VA - Acid Mutants, DVRCD002) here i like just first two minutes. the rest of track is just another pseudo-dark psytrance, easilly comparable with lots of others. nothing special.first two minutes are well created machine universe sounds like that all the machines of the world got angry just at you all those electronic samples make together some kind of strange melody. --- soo, here is the description, if anyone thinks about some tracks that could help me with search for quality fear bringing and thoughful scary music, feel free to write some tips. please no messy posts, just serious recommendations from quite advanced listeners. thanks.
  19. well, what do i often see at forums of this type, that lots of people request mp3s. then, a big avalanche of posts like 'buy originals, you've got mp3 samples at psyshop' appears. i'm deeply convinced about a fact, that 99.5% of ppl here leech nearly everything in a form of mp3 releases. the rest is connected via modem. (i see that nobody wants to write it in here, but why should we tell lies to ourselves?) the better ones, after many listenings, buy several original cds. but still there's a lot (and big majority) of 'justleechers', who like to shout at all those mp3 requesting ppl. mp3 samples at the online shops are _for_nothing_. what does a listening to 1 minute draft at poor sampling rate & bitrate tell me about whole track, its sound quality, its development ? with this f*ckin big quantity of crap that's being released, you need to listen very carefully to separate crap from quality. ignore me, being bored in work
  20. what about http://forum.psytrance.cz/ ? :]
  21. ghreg on earth / phosphene great ideas, powerful music. sometimes not for dance, but for listening. makes you think. midnight fire (ghreg) and afterburn (ph). this guy has not so clean sound, sometimes the samples seem dirty, but the Music ! scatterbrain inteligent dark trance. where dark means dark what it says, not 'pseudodark' brings fear, chills spine. ibex new blood from brazil. i just know two tracks, 'devil in details' and 'output it' both tracks - excellent work. also very thoughtful stuff. highly recommended. neural rectifier syndrome well i'm hardly finding words for what his track 'face of the comet' has done to my brain. although it might seem to someone quite minimal, this one is absolutely killer track with great rhythm. dark industrial heavy-machinery techno trance, great production. i got quite off topic, sorry for that, but when asked for recommendations after all that criticizing, i felt that i had to respond. naiman - agreed in general. its hard to find a year's highlight release for whole year..especially 2003 and 2004.
  22. it's not just case of infected mushroom a lot of projects are producing more and more crappy uniform music. just take a look at the number of releases that you were mad about in first quarter of 2004. for me it's about 3-5 releases. every year it's going down artists often decide to leave their own unique style built in first several single releases and eventually in debut album. now let's look at several examples dark soho - sunspot - excellent debut, combustion - imo peak of their production. now listen to several new tracks released around alchemy recs compils. in co-operations with fatali and shane (groundzero) the tracks went softer and weaker. no gothic atmosphere, no metal motives. just closer approach to 'conventional' music and very soft morning fullon which is being released by thousands of producers. what will come next from dark soho ? stuff like gms ? shift - sternoptyx / demon twist / cult of soma / stolen excellent tracks with demonic atmospheres look at the debut album - redline. all the same stuff for 70 minutes ? no invention ? these two artists were my big favourites-they got me with their first releases in recent times their music seems very weak and simple to me. their movement from very intensive atmospheric dark music to simple psytrance acceptable by more listeners was more than distinctive all artists & tracks seem merging to one 'default' track of 'default' style the diversity of psy scene which was characteristic for years 1999-2001 (?) is for gone. the more i'm happier, when i found something different, innovative, inteligently composed, spine chilling; but it's still harder and harder due to facts mentioned above. i think that artist should realize that there are also other genres than simple copy/paste morning music (hundreds to mention), and simple copy/paste night music (do you read this, azax syndrom, psychotic micro and others?). another thing is that nearly everyone tries to get the best sound quality, clear kickdrum, crispy hihats etc. nobody gives a shit what his music is telling. there's a lot of wankers who just make great crystal clear sound, but the music they make is empty. big IMHO. sorry for engrish.
