+1 I want the analogue warmth!I think newschool Goa definetly needs to start developing, not that it isn't great, much better than full-on, but old school Goa had a lot more going for it.
Some things i've noticed:
New school Goa sounds too polished, sort of over produced. I'm all for new synthesizers and effects but there seems to be a running theme of clinically perfect sounds that lack the warmth of old school.
New school Goa doesn't have enough acid.
New school Goa is too heavily layered, as if layers = psychedelic impact.
As has been stated there aren't enough darker vibes in new school. Not necessarily dak per se, just not sunshiney bright, and if an artist is going ultra melodic some emotion wouldn't go amiss. Old school had so many twisted producers creating truly mental stuff. New school could draw on the inspiration of : Darshan, Sandman, Hux Flux a lot more.
New school Goa sounds a lot more like nitzo than proper Goa.
Maybe some themes? Tribal, Sci-Fi, Spiritual. New school all seems very bland theme wise.

Art and therefore music is subjective. If you just don't see the difference in style or the change between say K.U.R.O. - Zoa and say Psykovsky - Lastbus Madras then that is it. Psy and Goa are the same for you. Period. It doesn't matter. The music is good, that's all. I see a difference. We can agree to disagree.I still don't get it. As a matter of fact I think all of you who believe there is a such a difference between Goa Trance and Psy-Trance, please enlighten me. Because, I think it is some emotional attachment that you have. Yet you have no way of explaining it. I especially and emphatically disagree with calling Twisted" Goa trance and "The Lone Deranger" Psytrance. The only difference is marketing. It is a scam by the record labels to sell more records. They are trying to pull on your strings with some nostalgic fascination with some hippy infested beach in a place you have never seen, never been, and never will.
This is from the history of psynews.org:

PreciselyIn my book,
Goa Trance is Psychedelic trance, but psychedelic trance isn't necessarily goa trance. Psychedelic trance is the general, more abstract term, and then it can be divided to subgenres like goa , suomi or dark

Putting aside the fact that whether music is random (as opposed to whether it sounds random to a given listener) is not subjective, the reason I originally responded to Visine is because I'm sick of seeing people continually bash darkpsy for no reason, on a forum where half the regulars like darkpsy. Look, as it happens I don't much care for the majority of progressive psytrance. I have more sense than to pretend I have anything more than a superficial knowledge and superficial understanding of the genre, but what little I've heard I mostly find boring. I expect that there are a number of other psynewsers who feel the same way. But you never see me, or anyone else AFAICR, randomly insult progressive psytrance in a thread that has nothing to do with progressive psytrance, or interrupt a thread in which people who like progressive psytrance are trying to have an intelligent discussion about it, solely for the purpose of calling it boring and pointing out that the people who like it worship Satan. The reason that I and others don't do this is because we have some respect for the many people here who like progressive psytrance, and because that would be a totally dick move. Why, then, don't darkpsy haters show people who like darkpsy the same courtesy?
Oh, I think because of darkpsy's pecularities it can sound random to people. And agreed people shouldn't randomly insult darkpsy, but the only way to make 'em stop is to ignore them. They obviously don't get that music is subjective, and that you need to respect other folks tastes. You could argue with them about this, but we all know how productive internet debates tend to be

What's the point of this? Art is subjective. Is there some overwhelming reason why everyone has to agree? Except to disagree ofcourse.

Electro house has to have some groovy electro bass for me to like it. It's commercial stuff, but it works on the floor

"Shake your body like a woou-oou-oouuurrrmmmmm!!!" How can you not wiggle to this track?

Yup, I'm a little confused too. I've actually seen that advert and seen the same link before, which is why I pointed it out.Maybe this is more deadpan sarcasm, but... you know the link supports karan129, right?
OT: Like any other genre, darkpsy has a lot of so-so releases and some good ones. Just look for the good ones. And ofcourse, don't have the same expectations of darkpsy that you have of melodic psy.

anyway, no need to deviate the topic just for expressing opinion there
back to topic, einstein said darkness doesnt exist, it is only the absence of light, and something tells me that none of the dark producers have ever produced a track during sun light
what einstein meant is, loads of artists can sound dark without having anything to do with it, like Cujorius One .
Einstein did not say that.

I don't know about you guys, but above a certain tempo, those deep, rolling, intense basslines have an almost meditative, surreal, calming feel to them.

Another trancehead into the same field. Nice! I've done a bit of cleanroom work, it's pretty cool stuff. They are used in these places. Basically, making transistors, in our case.

X-Dream - Radio started the psy scene I'm told. If you have to point to a break between Goa and Psy that would be it.

Spor made this really cool (at least for me) dark ambient track. I find it pretty hypnotic. And perfectly done. Brought the heat to a simmer, added the right ingredients at the right dose and let it cook to get...

Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. That's all I got

I'd recommend Process - One Drop or Two. If you allow the tracks to build, the entire album is excellent. Tromesa and Toi Doi have some interesting tracks from that era that might interest you too. Then Yamabikaya - The Arrival (2000) and Children of Paradise - Urban Alien (1999) were quite psy-techno-ish. There are two earlier Goa era albums that are pure Goa-Techno, Planet B.E.N. - Trippy Future Garden (1996) and Har-El Prussky - Pagan Moon Child (1994).

Dunno if this counts as martial arts but it's good stuff.

Came across this guy recently. He's really good...

Right on! Hits back with...oh ok how bout this then?
and

Best bets are Ed Rush & Optical, Technical Itch, Stakka & Skynet, Spor, Noisia, Evol Intent, Unknown Error, The Upbeats, Black Sun Empire, Konflict, Kemal, Rob Data, earlier Chase & Status, Phace, Calyx & Teebee, Dom & Roland, Photek.

Perhaps you're looking at the wrong genre. I think what you're looking for is breakcore and maybe industrial/hardcore. Artists like Bong-Ra, End.User... I don't know too much about the harder side of breakcore unfortunately.
