Guest neurogen Posted July 19, 2011 Share Posted July 19, 2011 is it just me on this forum that remembers the tracks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwZCkOUf-AU and of course the classic Lets get stoned and watch the freaks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDP4SDzS2nA i really cant put a definiton on goacore without mentioning Lets get stoned. i really cant. it was made in 1995 - the start of goatrance revolution. it was made with classic melodies and synth riffs previously unknown to any genre. in my opinion - this artist and this track CREATED the whole goacore scene. astral projection, hallucinogen ETC just picked up where Mark Allen left off. if you want true goacore sound, check out this track Lets get stoned and watch the freaks. from here you will be able to tell the story of what happened to goatrance, and goacore. long live mindfield of Phantasm who started this whole thing. boom! I have the feeling you have the tendency to call this goa core because this is in your opinion (what is ok) the most 100% goatrance... Great tracks posted in this thread but is this genre name "goacore" now real or not? Need to check out those compilations. +1, the tracks are great! I have never (If I remember correctly)... heard of this sub genre in > 10 years so, or, this is the start, which I doubt, or it is just not! Core often means a more motivated and harder baseline, like in Acid core where they use a hardtrance baseline and acid tunes what made the difference between original acid house that used more techno minded baselines... I have been into psy since 95/96 and all this *core* business has actually only recently been used... it was just plain old psytrance back then....over the years its split into genres......i suppose to make it easier for DJs to categorize their stuff according to the times they are playing ....afterall i wouldnt want darkforestpsy at the start of an evening, it would be wrong.... who would wanna hear morning trance at midnight??? pixiejanet Posted July 21, 2011 Share Posted July 21, 2011 of course it comes down to taste....the worst thing a party can do tho..is, put a brilliant band of musicians on in the middle of a psy night who bring the tempo down....that has happened at 2 gigs i have been to recently..both bands are, in their own right, excellent...but put in either the wrong slot, or the wrong room! i wont mention names, that wouldnt be fair.... Like I listened to in the beginning as I came into this scene (even though I came much later than this was actual)... Is "Goacore" now a genre or not? Or should we regard it as a genre?
