Shakta - Kick The Baby

Artist: Shakta

Title: Kick The Baby

Label: Psychic Deli

Date: 2000

Track listing:

01. 07'45" Kick The Baby

02. 07'35" 3rd Stone

Review:

Kick the baby is quite slow, and relaxing, in the begining. In the second half

of the tune, it becomes harder, and sometimes, wicked sounds come over other

strange sounds. there are many surprises in this track...a good compo indeed,

but...there's a little thing missing. I don't know what :) 5/10 for this one.

3rd Stone really looks like a Shakta track, very rhythmic, distorted sounds

everywhere...in the begining. Then it becomes dark And scary during the

break...you try to imagine what's going to happen...then it restarts and

drives you mad out of psychedelia! Warning: party killer. 9/10.

Eventually, (5+9)/2 = 7/10 overall.

Side A... Starts of with spacey sweeps.. and some random sounds that grab your

attention.. Then slowly they bring in th melodies.. they build it up till

aboutt 4:05 and then just start going crazy... that sound is too catchy...

then there is a break up ahead around 5 mins

something like the Fuzzion - Brown Eyed Girl ... totally breaks and some nice

samples ... I really like Shakta and I believe this is some great after so

long.

Side A starts with very deep twisted sounds...Nice and melodic with a nice

break and some samples. The key change of the basssline around 4:45 is the

best part where it gets really dark for a bit and then goes back into that

melodic twisted pep sound!

I would buy it if I were u just for that crazy break on Side A 8/10

My copy FINALLY arrived -- damned, there's some good shit on this EP. Side A

is fantastic, and sticks to the psychedelic-tech-trance style that Shakta does

so very, very well. Hard, deep, pounding bass -- some soft synth harmonies

layered in with the funky/hard tech sounds... don't know how else to describe

this except as awesome. Side B isn't quite as good, but still a great

dance-floor track. A little bit faster, more breaks, seems to go a few more

places than Side A, but it just doesn't have the flow and doesn't seem as

solid. Still a great track with some spacey samples inserted everywhere...

pick this EP up! You'll make people on the dancefloor drop dead [in a good

way!!!] 9.5/10 - one of the best EP's I have.

I should also mention, "Kick The Baby" sounds like Shakta took a little lesson

from GMS, as the main effect used again and again is EXACTLY like in GMS

tracks. Still sounds pretty good though...
