Review:

This compilation starts off nice with a Trisan track in Colabaration with Si

Wild. Quite minimal to an extent somehow reminding me of many diffrent

styles...a little Atmos sounding. Next we have a Bamboo Forest, this one has a

slow pick up but then just explodes into these crazy sounds. Very nice

bassline and kickdrum work. Crazy work... Planet B.E.N. gives us a very

diffrent track with some nice clear, crisp percussion sounds. After this we

have a track by Dragon. Never heard of them but of what I hear it sounds light

in the beggining just starting to pick up into something more intense. Some

deeper melodies and thoughts and trying to create some confussion.Into very

deep sounds. wierd...Then we have a Son Kite track. Very nice work here...

Each time I hear them they supprise me more and supply me with a new thought.

Small melodies just twisting and little hi hat fills which breaks into

something more progressive. Minute detail...

Word of Mouth gives us Fresh Perspective with some ok sounding basslines...

little minimal... not much change until the end.

Biodegradable gives a track with some crazy vocal samples into some nice

processed sweeps. Very new style here... thats all I can say for this one.

Many new thoughts in this one... bringing some small melodies in here and

there... Then we have a driving stomper by Marcus C Maichel and Dj Sancar with

a remix of the track Ox. Very so to speak typical goa/psy track. Very known

bassline and drums... with diffrent quirky bleeps and wierd sounds here and

there. Closing this cd with an S-Range track. SOme nice melodies in the

beggining going into something you wouldnt expect so fast. The beggining is

very acidic. Slowly progressing with hi-hats and then going into a more

diffrent feel and back on treack to the driving kickdrum. Nice breaks on this

one. Small subtle melodies. This CD is Excellent and I say it is worth a

10/10. Really did me good in London!!! Keep the good work up Flying Rhino!

I don't agree. This is cool, ok, but it doesn't deserve the maximum mark. no no

no. I agree with the review but i'd only give 7/10. As a matter of fact if you

liked the others flights, it's for you as it's better than latest flights. If

you never managed to like the flights, don't buy.

I was really dissapointed about this cd after all I heard from ppl. Maybe

because I haven't heard the tracks outdoors but I find most of the tracks

kinda average except the Tristan tracks, those are worth the cd alone, and

Youngel is a real cool track. Son Kite rock, then there is that Y2k already on

vinyl + Word of Mouth ep coming soon, so if your really fussy about your music

don't expect anything special. Standard psy trance what's with all the weak

ass realeases at the moment?

Cd 4/10 Word of Mouth 9/10 (One of the most kickass tracks of the summer)

Avery poor Flying Rhino compilation....really missing the quality of Stoop &

Fidget, Slinky Wizard, Manmademan, Bumbling Loons and Bus tracks..best track

IMO by Son Kite, worst tracks by Biodegradable, and Marcus & etc..the S-range

tracks kicks off really well but after a couple of minutes it turns into a

pathetic goa/disco tune...overall a poor compilation for Flying Rhino standards

S-Range a pathetic disco tune??!!!! You're smoking crack dude. Just wait & see

what effect this tune has on a big soundsystem!

S-Range has delivered one of his best floorfillers to date. Starts of deep,

minimal and heavy like One Ltd from Spirallianz and suddenly rays of light

break through the darkness and a gorgeous euphoric melody enters. Can't wait

to hear this in the outdoors when the sun rises.

Rest of this comp is very solid as well. Tristan delivers a great track that

grows and grows.

Bamboo Forest never disappoints, same here. Great stomping percussive trance

with a tribal feel and infectious basslines.

Planet BEN is the master of deep, mechanical repetitive gutwrenching grooves.

This track is no exception. Nothing psychedelic or complicated, just GROOVE

man 8)

Dragon's track is IMO the weakest of the comp. The guys have skills, but the

kick is simply not powerfull enough and because of the overload of

psychedelic-intended noises I somehow loose the plot.

Son Kite just keeps pushing their boundaries and keep progressing. This

definitly is one of their best tracks. Superbly produced deep kicking and

driving techno.

Word of mouth is a side project from Tristan if I'm correct. Just as Son Kite's

track this one is very stripped and more focussed on the drive and groove.

Nice floorfiller.

Biodegradable doesn't do much for me. I'm not fond of this style. Reminds me of

psytrance from '98 but misses something.

The track from Marcus is pretty good but nothing special really. Same basslines

and percussion sounds as always.

But overall it's a very decent comp. I'd rate it 8/10.

Great compilation. Mostly minimal but, not monotonous. The whole disc is good

but, the first five tracks are so nice. The more I hear from Son Kite the

better. The track listing above is missing the 9th and final track by S-Range

- Free Upgrade. 9/10

The Son Kite track kicks ass and takes names. The rest is pretty anonymous.

To get this sound for free, go down to the big bagel factory and listen to the

stainless-steel dough-kneading machine with the honey-water boiling in the

background. When I walked, high with the munchies, into Kettleman's on Bank

Street in Ottawa, I was really appreciating the wicked psy-techno track they

were playing, until about 30 seconds later that's what I was listening to. It

was an internal blush moment.

Did you know that the sample in track 2 (Bamboo Forest-Toast) is from Lock

Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (You wanna be more careful old fella, coulda

taken my mates head off with that!)? A good compilation, Planet B.E.N. is

heavy but good for two listens. Gets a bit dull on multiple listens.

8/10
