Artist: Trinodia Title: Starstepper Label: Self-Released Date: August, 2018 1. Planet Number 12 (2012 Mix) 06:50 2. Goa Feelings 09:18 3. Free Form 08:54 4. Pulsating Neurons 07:56 5. Spaced Out To Noise 09:24 6. Deceive My Eyes 09:40 7. Starstepper 08:54 8. 7th Ace (Optional Bass Mix) 09:05 9. Human History (Ambient Mix) 10:26 "What's done is done and what I've done is right!" Yes it is Nana. Trinodia is a project that we all know about (Daniel Eldström), but one that might not first come to mind. That is until you delve back into his catalog and realize he has produced several solid albums of cosmic goa trance. His latest is a digital release that is unlike any of his previous stuff. So much so that when I first heard it I had to shelve it cause I just wasn't ready. According to him it has taken years to create consisting of 5 previously unreleased tracks, two remixes, one previously released track, and an alternate version of an original. It's got some goa, some psy and full-on, and some drifting melodies. The sound is incredible, full of warmth and pleasing to my ears. It made me want to sift through the layers. He carries some M-run rhythms (Goa Feelings and Free Form) splatters some acid (Spaced Out To Noise), has a pretty good goa ripper (Deceive My Eyes), and ends with a head nodding mix of Human History. These don't sound like B-side tracks because the quality is too high. They're just...different. While not my favorite Trinodia album (that title shall remain with Human History) it is nonetheless and good high-energy effort. Trinodia Bandcamp

Artist: Perfect Blind Title: Replika Label: Self-Released Date: April, 2018 01. The Doctor (Dr.Who Theme Cover) 02. Metropolis (Kraftwerk Cover) 03. Dark Train (Underworld Cover) 04. Immobilized (Front Line Assembly Cover) 05. Replicant (Covenant Cover) 06. Oxygene (Jean Michel Jarre Cover) 07. Dej Mi (Croatian folk song - V2) 08. Sheyn (Haustor Cover) 09. Our Darkness (Anne Clark Cover) 10. A Forest (The Cure Cover) 11. It's No Good (Depeche Mode Cover) 12. End Titles (Vangelis Cover) Perfect Blind (also Deimos) is Igor Čeranić from Croatia and if you do not know who he is stop feeling sorry for yourself and do your homework. This is a fantastic electronic musician that leans towards the darker more industrial side of psytrance. Didn't catch his latest Stratum album? It's so f*cking good. Moody, atmospheric, industrial paradise. That said the guy is a wizard when it comes to electronic music having stretched his programming muscles with downtempo and goa trance music as well as the industrial stuff. With this release he takes a bunch of songs that had some strong personal meaning to him and puts his own spin on them. You know those moments right? First kiss. Ugh, we arrested Michael Jackson for less. First date. I'm not going to lie to you. This might come back to be a problem later. And who could forget the first time you got arrested and the po po wouldn't take you to the bathroom. Good times. So he made a cover album with more modern sounds and an industrial sound. As he himself said it can hardly be classified as Perfect Blind material, but he had a good time doing it so who the f*ck cares. Most of the songs I had never heard so in that respect it made me hit YouTube to see what he did. I have always been a fan of his work and his industrial downtempo version of Dej Mi was very appealing. It's not something I can listen to very frequently, but I applaud him for doing something different that makes him happy. If I made a cover album with songs that were the soundtrack to my life you would think I was a pre-pubescent little girl. Take...on...me! Perfect Blind Bandcamp

Artist: Sibling Title: Of Earth Ep Label: Self-Released Date: October, 2015 1 - Verde Ghosts (125 BPM) 2 - Ormus (127 BPM) 3 - Deadly Spawn (92 BPM) 4 - Bloodlines (106 BPM) 5 - Above My Brain (120 BPM) 6 - Slaves (112 BPM) "What the hell is that?" Has the frenzied pace of life got you down and you just can't keep up? Feel like you're always in a hurry, but not getting anywhere? Well have I got just the thing for you! Trent Thomas from Arizona is back and has improved everything but his cover art from his first Ep! Don't uh, really know what...what happened there. As labelled by Ektoplazm this bass music is some slow motion swampy quicksand. You can try to resume your high speed machinations, but rest assured you will only dig yourself deeper. Eerie melodies abound and even though the bpm's are listed at above one hundred, they feel like half that. Tribal percussion, ancient mystical ritualistic sacrifice, and bass heavy hallucinations await. This music is excellent at generating an atmosphere of foresty dread helped along by whatever he does to make the samples seemingly come from the other side. Impending doom is on it's way and the agonizingly slow pace makes it much more terrifying. And there's nothing you can do to stop it. Free at Ektoplazm

Artist: Xenofish Title: Datastasis Label: Self-Released Date: July, 2014 01 - Datastasis (178 BPM) 02 - Geiranum (176 BPM) 03 - Primeval Pattern (160 BPM) 04 - Zero Velocity (170 BPM) 05 - Disordered Minds (180 BPM) 06 - Twinmachine (182 BPM) 07 - Shattered Phantasm (176 BPM) This is Christian Becker's fourth album and it is a science fiction journey escorted by drum & bass music. The pace is quite hectic as the bpm's will tell you. As mentioned the atmosphere is definitely cosmic with Fifth Element characteristics. I would say that the intros and his breaks are the parts that appeal to me most. Very dark and descriptive. I like the sound and feel it's very clear, but comparisons to Cybernetika and Mellow Sonic cannot be helped. Is it possible to have an over saturated genre with just 3 participants? I don't think anyone would argue that the king of the hill is Cybernetika with his compositions so full of depth and complexity and that's where I think this suffers. Not because it is of low quality, far from it. But I feel it's just...more drum & bass that doesn't push the boundaries. Doesn't take the music in any direction that the other two projects haven't already done. I hear some great ideas and potential for a Front Line Assembly apocalyptic vibe that I hope he explores further however. It's a good album if you're a fan of futuristic drum & bass, but I ask you Christian what are you going to do to set yourself apart? Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

Artist: Radioactive Sandwich Title: B-Sides Vol. 1 Label: Self Released Date: March, 2012 1. Facebreaker 2. Falling Down 3. Make It Clap 4. Jabberwockey 5. Flying Guillotine 6. Resolution 7. The Wall 8. No Sound 9. Tundra 10. Sun In The Sea "I'm an American...you're a sick asshole!" Take that metric system! When I don't know what to write I go get a sandwich. My favorite is a radioactive one. These two are a better version of the Chemical Brothers. Big beats, moody vocals, and not afraid to use the latest trends in music. This is a collection of stuff they made before 2012 that never made it onto an album. Some of them sound like sketches and are pretty short. So what do you do with it? B-sides baby! You cannot pigeon hole these guys cause just when you're comfortable they turn the tables on you. It's electronic creativity at its finest that jumps genres and treats tempos as a suggestion. Check out this lyric: "You're f*cking ugly and I hate you. I wish you would just go and die...in a fire." Wedding vows...they ain't what they used to be. This was offered for whatever you thought it was worth awhile ago, but now that's over. They've given away a lot on Ektoplazm in the past so now it's time to throw a few scheckles their way. So for less than 4 bucks you can have some great stuff in your inbox. When you need to take a break from psytrance, but still want to keep it psychedelic check this out. B-sides...Maybe. If the b stands for bad-ass. Radioactive Sandwich Bandcamp Mdk

Filteria - Sky Input Remixed EP Self-released Bandcamp 2013 1. Operation Pulse (Remix) 09:24 2. Stars (Warped Remix) 08:21 3. Navigate (Pitch Down The World Mix) 09:09 4. The Snuggling Snail (Live Remix) 09:02 5. Ultimator (Ultimated Remix) 10:07 6. Operation Pulse (Live Remix) 11:19 Well this one went under the radar a little bit. Over a year and no review thread? Welp. Operation Pulse (remix) & (Live Remix) Well the Operation Pulse remixes are a little more uneventful, some of it's parts have different arrangement and some different details. The Live Remix has the original climax with a new take on the melody itself which makes it a bit more exciting but generally I didn't really care for these two remixes. The original is such a masterpiece there's not much you can do with it honestly. Stars (Warped Remix) Stars Starstuffing in a black hole instead? If you felt the original wasn't crazy enough he literally warped the melodies sound like they're being eaten out from inside. It's a lot less light as this remix is filled with darker moments of bubbling acid or otherwisely unnerving atmosphere. It's mental, a worthy successor to the original, though now I'm interested in hearing a version of just Stars. Navigate (Pitch Down The World Remix) Well first off the mix on this sounds very muddy. I don't know if this is intentional or just age taking it's toll, but it sounds much less sharp than the rest of the mixes. It's basically navigate with pitch adjustments and generally slower tempo. There's also many interesting parts like a break at 4:44 where he's just messing about with a knob and some high pitched sounds. And then a part after 5:50 where it just sounds like the track is literally dying, very funny. It's an interesting take on the track, but it's also holding back on the remix part imo, it still generally feels like the original track whereas I would have prefer ed to see it completely broken down, especially the main melodies. The Snuggling Snail (live remix) This one reminds me of how Etnica remixed their tracks, albeit could use a tad more grooveyness. It really goes out on creating more madness on top of the existing framework. A great example is a part at 5:29 where the melodies are coupled with wicked pleiadians-esque synth. Same goes for the ending. Another interesting track. Ultimator (Ultimated Remix) This one was already released and I've heard people say it's the best Filteria track ever. It very well could be! Also maybe one of the most intense remixes ever too. It's spaced out, it's emotional, it's maximal, it's clever and has perfect production. If you took best bits of Heliopolis/Sky Input era and crammed it into one track this would be the result. Absolutely an epic grand voyage'. Generally it's what you'd expect from a bunch of remixes (remastered might I add). A new(er) take on an old track. So how does it hold up? For the most part, definitely! What else? It's only 6€ and all funds go directly to support the artist. Worth it. http://filteria.bandcamp.com/album/sky-input-remixed-ep On another note I would love to see this happen again! Maybe some other unreleased tracks (like that one compilation that had 2 tracks that were never released) and remixes from Filteria AND KOB? I'm sure there are more and I'm also sure there are people ready to eat it up.

Artist: Rob Vector Title: The Future Songs of Old Label: Self-Released Date: January, 2013 01 - The Triumph Of Saint Lucy (86 BPM) 02 - Bastardized Beat Soup (105 BPM) 03 - Real Church (93 BPM) 04 - Tundra Sunrise (86 BPM) 05 - Nameless Gnosis (90 BPM) 06 - All I Got (101 BPM) 07 - Wizidry (93 BPM) 08 - Tundra Sunrise (DeeperNET's Nomadic Remix) (86 BPM) If you like lots of ethnic instruments with head nodding trip-hop beats and chants then look no further. But instead of weighing heavily on your sinning soul, this is good time music. If I close my eyes it could sound like an outreach by Moby. The tracks are real short giving you a taste without becoming bored. A nice mixture of electronica and real world instruments. The title suits it perfectly. This guy has got funk in his veins and uses choirs better than Enigma ever did. An interesting and solid release. Free at Ektoplazm Mdk

Artist: Flict Title: Explorers EP Label: Self-Released Date: April, 2012 01 - Explorers (55 BPM) 02 - Against The Wind (75 BPM) 03 - To-And-Fro (80 BPM) 04 - Starlight (80 BPM) I had been meaning to get to this one a while ago, but it just kept getting pushed back. This is Dan Flict who released his debut Explorers back in 2009 so I guess this was just a refresher so more people could give it a listen. The first track is a deep journey to the bottom of the sea interacting with creatures in their native environment. Slow like bubbles rising from your scuba gear. Against the Wind is more slow motion turtle movements and dreamy views below a hazy ocean. To-And-Fro sees the first steady beat appear and Buddhist like monk chants echo deeply beneath the sea. Didn't connect as well with this one. The final track Starlight puts a picture of light on a nighttime sea as dubby bass hums against weird human noises. Odd. He's good at creating textures and deep feeling ambient with a liquid and bubbly quality. At least with this release. Hope he is still producing music. Free At Ektoplazm Mdk

Quadra Tron is the name of my debut EP that I decided to release online. It contains three songs made in 2003-2004 period and style is some mixture between funk'n'experimental goa trance and early psy trance. This EP is available for digital download in WAV/FLAC/MP3 formats for price of 2$. For previews and downloads, please visit this page: http://neogoa.bandcamp.com/album/quadra-tron-ep 1) Realms Of Consciousness (08:08) - 140 BPM 2) Implementation Through Quadra (07:45) - 148 BPM 3) Deathless Machinery (08:47) - 146 BPM I was never too much into music production and never had knowledge or conditions for some more serious stuff but this one is made with a lot of passion and love, so yeah thoose silly tunes means a lot to me, I hope that you'll enjoy in them as much as I'm enjoying Artwork:
