  1. Didn't they just resently release their third album which was more relaxed... i.e. no "four to the floor" trance beats. I should check it out too... been lazy.
  2. Ubar Tmar is onlyone that comes to mind... target="new">Macrometasomakosmos
  3. Funny tune... really good use of those nintendo melodies.
  4. When I click over Patch, Waveform, Effect, LFOs, Envelopes and Midi nothing happens. Shouldn't those buttons give some pop up windows where you can edit the sounds?
  5. Can you people edit Absynth 2 sound patches when you are using it as VST instrument? For me it does not work..... version 1.3 (vsti) used to have that extra window where you could edit paches but this new version don't have it.
  6. Bahamut.. yep.. I have actually borrowed bunch of Laswell's albums/collaborations from a library but somehow never got into it much... propably just didn't consentrate enough. But at least these two tracks are very good. Samira has exellent percussion work and sounds.
  7. Wow Bahamut... Pete Namlook & Bill Laswell - The Fate of Energy is awesome.... got any more recommendations like this?

    SHPONGLE

So far I have liked all the tracks on both Shpongle albums but Beija Flor is IMO quite bad... too meny ideas on one track that don't seem to have any connection.... and the long solo with acoustic guitar (and silly effects) on top of '4 To The Floor' -beat sounds cheap IMO.... "Tourist attraction holiday in Spain" is the feeling I get from that... ...I hope the style of the new album is not this.... just my opinion.
  9. Sounds really impressive... nice atmospheres/sounds. Definitely going to buy this one... Is it me or is there something wrong with the track download... the file is only few kilobits and doesn't play.
  10. Here's the message Simon (if it really was him?) posted in the Hallucinogen forum (few weeks ago): "Hi everybody... Happy New Year to you all! i apologise for my long absence, but i have been working (honest!) the collaboration with merv from eat static is nearly finished - maybe 2 or 3 weeks away now. We still don't have a name for it yet... we have been using the working title "Metal Sharon", but aren't too happy with it... any suggestions? the shpongle gig in japan went well over new year's eve... i even played a bit of guitar and bass, which was much more fun than operating a load of machines! i just LOVE that country... the people are so warm, loving and evolved... other highlights of last year for me were the hallucinogen in dub gig at glastonbury - again, i was able to play guitar... we had youth on bass, and ott on the machines, and i loved every minute of it! i will be sending some mp3s of the gig to aquagena, as soon as i get the recording off the elusive sound guy... keep your eyes and ears peeled! i enjoyed aphex twin's set too... one of the strangest ambient sets i have ever heard in my life... whether u like his stuff or not, the guy is a genius... earthcore 10th anniversary was also a killer... i haven't been to oz for a while, and it was a joy to meet some of the fans there, and the warm reception was amazing. i have written a hallucinogen track for the forthcoming 'gran turismo' game on ps2... it is quite slow, and probably has too much bass for a TV, but sounds Huge on a big sound system! i do pop in to the chat room occasionally, and of course there is never anyone there... perhaps i will post a time that i will be there... i will try again at 10pm tonight GMT. Thank you for all your emails... i do read them all, and try to reply to as many as possible, although i tend to ignore the ones that are already answered in interviews on the site. I have certainly met some interesting people, and if i don't reply, please don't take it personally... sometimes my inbox gets too full, and yahoo deletes a load automatically... also there is no broadband in my remote part of the english countryside, so the internet is a bit of a chore on a dial-up connection. i intend to start the hallucingen 3rd album this year... i have been bored working on my own in the studio, preferring to collaborate...younger brother, merv, shpongle etc.. but now i am twitchy again, and we need some new dancefloor killers! Thanks to all who support us by actually buying the records, not just downloading it. The music business is on it's knees, and sometimes it is hard for a small label to make a profit... personally i think mp3s sound shit anyway, and would rather people heard the quality of mastering that goes into a CD... we don't spend all that money for nothing! Well it is 7am here now, and my head feels like a frisbee... i should be mixing the final merv track, but got distracted by the interweb again... and after seeing all your kind posts, i thought i should say hello! Love to everyone, especially the regulars, and all the best for 2004! Have a Great new year, and a million more to come! x x x simon"
  11. www.saikosounds.com has 2:30min samples.
  12. Maybe it's Oforia - Why Not On Mars
  13. They offered $14 at secondhand store? No way... here in Finland it's mostly $5 and if it's a psytrance cd it's propably even less... maybe $3,5. New cd is about $20.
  14. Total Eclipse - Psychedelic Terrorist is over 160 BPM. It has Drum n' Bass beat on top of trance beat and some really acidic, screaming synths.
  15. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (one bar/measure... contains sixteen 16th notes or eight 8th notes or.. well you get it...) Trance beat: X _ _ _ X _ _ _ X _ _ _ X _ _ _ ...kickdrum (every 4th note) _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ ...snare (every second time with kickdrum starting from second 4th note) Rock/Pop/Metal beat: X _ _ _ _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ...kickdrum (every 2nd note) _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ ...snare (every 2nd note starting from second 4th note) Drum 'n' Bass beat 1: X _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ _ _ ...kickdrum (uneven) _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ ...snare (every 2nd note starting from second 4th note) Drum 'n' Bass beat 2: X _ _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ...kickdrum (uneven) _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ _ _ ...snare (uneven) So you see there is more stuff in trance beat..... BPM in Drum 'n' Bass is usually somewhere between 160-180 but it doesn't sound silly because the kickdrum is not so constant and rapid. I think you could say that the BPM comes from how meny 4th notes you have in within one minute. Of course those were just simplistic examples and you can make the beats more complex and groovy. Hope that helps a bit.
  16. "I dont think it's harsh what I wrote but then again we cant always agree " Well this one I can agree 100%... hehe... ----------------------------------------------------------- "I'm also supprised by the many posts here trying to prove "I'm right you're wrong" I think this was just a discussion. It would be quite hard to talk about various subjects if one could not tell his/her opinion. You are free to join... but then again maybe you are afraid to lose your "I'm always relaxed"-tag. ;P
  17. -goaculture.ch? -goacommunity.ch? Not cool but simple and clear.
  18. EP... I certainly did not mean that you can't have opinoin. I just thought your, Järsimähäiriö's and v4K's comments were peculiarly blunt. I think it's weird how people switch on rude when they don't like something. What is the reason for harshness? Is it that somebody made bad work (in your opinion)? I don't get it. Let me ask again... lets say you had worked on hard your next album and you thought it was really good. Then you send demo to Twisted (or replace your favourite Label here) and all you got back is this message from Mr. Posford: "worse kind of crap music.. such a big cliche - Some oriental sounds and melodies as they used to be 10 years ago..... nahhhh nothing impressive there... sorry we can't release this kind shit" Kinda hard to imagine that something like that was the response isn't it?
  19. Huh... you people are damn hars. It's actually quite weird phenomenon... if somebody doesn't like something then he immediately thinks he has some obscure liberty to crush down other peoples work. How about trying to be a bit more constructive and polite? EP... How would you like similar review of your latest album: "worse kind of crap music.. such a big cliche - Some oriental sounds and melodies as they used to be 10 years ago..... nahhhh nothing impressive there peace & Love and let's all kill all artists...sure mate!" LIVE AND LET LIVE (especially EP)
  20. Omniholic... you propably mean Triplets whitch he uses in meny trance tracks....... 3/4 is not the same thing if I remember right.
  21. I like funky/groovy basslines in psytrance tracks. Listen to the beginning of Process - Blue Moonies... now that's funky b-line! But unfortunately after few minutes it changes back to your typical psy du-du-du-du-...... Another nice funky b-line is in Double Dragon - Worm Most used b-line is this where you got two 16th notes before kickdrum.. that b-line is in like 80% of all the psytrance tracks produced these days... I really wonder why?
