  1. I feel the need to stress what an absolutely fucking brilliant song this one from the tegma boys is. I was a little disenheartened with their lo-fi adventures album, but this song has taken them right back up to the top of my list for the best prog producers out there.

THIS is what I want to be hearing on a dancefloor. Insanely powerful, driving, cerebral stuff that makes you want to move every part of your body :posford: Definately one of my top tunes of the year, I just hope their next album keeps this standard up!

Check it out if you haven't heard, tis on the TV cabaret compiliation (which is a great compilation in itself)

  2. The cultural /spiritual section will be missed as well. so many good debates / arguments developed over so many interesting and worthwhile topics. tis a real pity it gone. I thought that section would be spared..

cant you make it a hidden subsection on the electronica board?

+1. None of the problems you described ever occurred in cultural or the tech section of offtopic

  3. Looks like that shpongle's live concert is really getting around!! They're booked to play in Moscow in december and in australia at the earthcore festival. Hope this means the beginning of lots more live shows (another one in the UK please ;)), would kill for another opportunity to relive that experience!

Maybe a proper tour will follow the release of album number four?

  4. I love atmos but I heard him do a set of his new stuff at universo paralello last year and really wasn't impressed... Especially considering he also did a set of all old material on the goa stage which was an absolute stormer.

Still, I will certainly check this out, just because its atmos :)

And what's with the album cover? Looks like something out of transformers...

  5. Hahah funny... I was shown this festival by some of my friends yesterday! They loved it because of all the sweet dub (some real treats in the line-up!), and I saw FSOL was coming as well, but I didn't their live act was a rarity, is it?!

Well it's the first time they've played since 1997 so yeah :P

Well it looks like a nice festival, for real gentlemen, no wet tents, no sleeping-bags  but its rather expensive this deluxe festival <_<

Haha, i know some ppl who went to it last year and said it was faaaar from a 'gentlemen's' festival, in fact it was one of the downright messiest weekends they had ever been to (the priviledge of having your own chalet says it all ;)). It's also the same price as the glade festie here which is pretty good value since in glade you stay in tents and at bloc you stay in chalets!
  6. According to the guy@Access All Areas who was handling tickets/wine redistribution :D (anyone know his name?) they are planning on bringing Shpongle Live concert to Ozora in 2009 (shhh it's a secret :D).

I've been umming and ahhing about which european psy festival to do next summer, but if this is true then it may well tip the boat in ozora's favour! ;)

  7. Erpland and Waterfall Cities are my two favourites. Jurassic Shift is very cool too. If you go to amazon they have (had?) double disk ozric CDs with 2 of their albums togther instead of one, I bought a few for about a £3-5 each, bargain!!

  8. FSOL world tour?

They'd have to come here! Have to!

There's not really much of a reason for them not to to be honest. Considering they do all of their live shows from their studio in London it wouldn't actually involve much 'touring' ;)

  9. From wikipedia:

'There are also rumours of a world tour'

Ahh, man i hope they announce whether or not there will be a one off before bloc because i will rather distraught to say the least if i miss their first/last live show in 10 years...

  10. Check out who's headlining this years bloc festival here in the UK. My jaw literally dropped when I saw that name on there...

    Anyone gonna go?

And I wonder whether this will signal the possibility of future shows from them or whether its just gonna be a one off like the 1997 show... If its just a one off i think i may well have to scrape together the pennies!

  11. Whew, so I think I've finally recovered, and all I can say is that that was one the best, if not the best, night out I've ever had. Managed to get bout 20 of my best friends together to go down with so it was wicked sharing such a wicked night with them!

The shpongle concert was absolutely mindblowing, the best live show I've ever seen. The music was absolutely perfect, the lights, lasers and visuals we mindblowing and all the dancers and costumes and everything else was just the icing on the cake. They played just bout every song I wanted them to play but especially loved Star Shpongled Banner, the first few of Nothing lasts, DMT (and I actually loved the guitar at the end of this, maybe it didn't sound so good on the streaming but it was SO damn powerful when it came through on the soundsystem there) and of course around the world in a tea daze which was the perfect way to end! The new songs were amazing too, especially the I am you song and the encore song they did with the UFO shaped instrument, soooo beautiful!

And then there was the afterparty, what a messy time that was!! We ended up having to queue for 2 hours which was a bit shit, especially as a few of my friends dropped on the walk there and so were absolutely fucked for the last hour of queueing and had to kept going on random walks/missions to calm themselves down . But it was worth it when we got inside, LOVED the decor in the main room, the art work was wicked and definately suitable for halloween! Green nuns absolutely destroyed the place, probably the best psy trance set I've ever heard. Rock bitch and green nunions were the highlights for them, man i was going crazy when they came on :D I think we only left the dancefloor once during their and that was only to have a cigarrette which we only half finished as we couldn't bear to be away for so long. Was absolutely fucked by the time they finished so the next hour or so are a bit blurry, just remember walking around the maze that was scala chatting to random people and stumbling across all the different rooms and dancing away. Caught most of xdream who were also top, their set just kept getting better and better, the last few tunes they played were stunning and just didn't want them to stop! After that we had a very cold journey back to leamington, but we had lots of spliffs to keep us company which wasn't too bad! Although we made the school boy error of not buying anything to drink before we got on our 2 hour train journey which had no buffet carriage, i could barely swallow my mouth was so dry! Got home and slept all day, singing shpongle tunes in my dreams :)

I didn't remember that was the place were some psynewsers were going to meet up. I do remember now afterwards that I must've seen yohankiwi, a guy with black and white pants (but no hat!). I didn't recognize the outfit as a "jester" so I didn't connect the dots. :P

Haha, yeah that was me! The jester hat ended up in my hand most of the night, it was very noisy (has bells on it which jingle whenever you move) and really hot too, so a bit more trouble than it was worth in the end!

I didn't have a camera, but my friends took some good snaps:

And my favourite one of me of the evening. Have no idea where that came from but it provided much amusement! hehe

  12. Absolutely in love with this album at the moment. Funky, playful, bouncy, melodic electro tinged progressive. I especially love made in satisfaction and body and mind, put a smie on my face whenever I hear them. Stands alongside ticon and haltya as my favourite album of the year so far. Lovely stuff.

  13. I start to feel sad that I won't come... :(

The point is I was a little dissapointed about London parties last few years because I need 1m² to dance properly and in London it is usually something like 20cm² IF you use your ellbows... :P But the line up looks damn good anyway!

haha, so true. i hope this one will not be like that. i've heard scala can get pretty packed...

  14. i like the hidden intro on Ott - Blumenkraft.

it's not after a long annoying silence break. when you start the cd you have to rewind back to hear it.

    pretty nice idea :)

ha, i never even knew that existed!! will have to check it out...

  15. hey guys, one of my mates who was supposed to be going with has now told me that he can't get time on work, which means i am now left with both a shpongle ticket and an afterparty ticket if anyone wants to buy them? Lemme know asap if you do, as i'll have to put em on ebay or something if you're not quick enough!

    e. fuck that was quick. someone off psyforum has already got em. sorry :(

  16. 100 more tickets available..

    all gone now.

    5 days to go!! :posford:

Should be going down with quite a few people now, we're hopefully heading to the inspiral cafe (just down the road apparently) for some pre drinks if anyone fancies joining us? I should be pretty easy to recognise as I have decided to take up the fancy dress opportunity and go as a black and white jester, so just look out for the guy with the black and white checked trousers, waistcoat and jester hat! come say hi if you see me at the gig/afterparty too and we'll get some serious psynews style partying on the go :posford:

  17. Hey, I'm looking for some ambient-ish music but with alot of emotion to it, melodies are welcome (not just drone ambient music). I'm looking for stuff similar to Ulrich Schnauss. I've listened to CBL, solar fields, early william orbit.. not alot as I'm still fairly new to the ambient world, but Schnauss is where it's peaking for me right now so anything with that intensity is welcome. If you could recommend me something in that area I'd appreciate it!

Abasio, I'm look at YOU! :)

word, schnauss is an absolutely wonderful producer. have you got all 3 of his albums? All top notch IMO. Saw him live this year at glade too and can definately recommend.

Stuff that's along his lines? Hmmmm.... try maybe:

    Celtic Cross: Hicksville

    Caia: The Magic Dragon

Alpha: Come from heaven (more trip hop than ambient but has the same blissed out summer style)

Rena Jones: Driftwood (definately a must)

BT- This Binary Universe (maybe a bit too glitchy for what you're after but brilliant nonetheless)

Trentemoller: The last resort (for me, the cold winter version of shnauss' music)

Long Range: Madness and me (phill hartnol from orbital's new project. Bit more dancy, but still very smooth and lovely in general)

Mandalay: Solace (my favourite vocalist singing over blissful ambient soundscapes. A bit on the poppy side, but doesn't get much more emotionally involving than this. Check nicola hitchcock's solo album, passive aggressive if you enjoy, a bit more eclectic but beautiful nonetheless)

And +1 to Otto's recommendations of fourt tet (rounds=wow), boards of canada (especially the new one, the campfire headphase), and ochre
