The "old gods" had lots of talent. Back then music was made with hardware, which was expensive. So to actually make a basic track you would need to buy hardware for several thousand euros. If you were prepaired to make that investment you probably already had some talent. Today, the cost of making a track is the cost of a computer. The results, anyone can make music, and that doesn't lead to quality, it's leads to quantity.

Also, depending on the hardware the the group/artist had invested on this had an impact on their sound making distinct from other artists.

sca, AP, Koxbox to name some, made some excellent music. So for THAT music they deserve all the praise imo. I don't worship what, for example, Tala is NOW, I praise him for what he used to be. No different with any other goa "god" :)

Even Koxbox's last album was bad. And no reason to talk about AP, I have given up on them years ago.

It's kinda interesting to see CBL releasing music on the same platform/label with bands such as Emperor, SYL or Arcturus. They're in great company indeed. :)

I don't mind where they release it as long as the music is good. However, it would be nice to see them putting the same attention on the cover design as they are doing with their music.

Unfortunately, all 4 CBL releases on that label fail short, too short tbh.

    However, Nattväsen, wow, haunting.

Anyone knows where the samples are from? The girl's voice sounds like

It's not THAT difficult overall. But most labels can't only live in the past and also have newer stuff to release. If you're in for getting into this niche and re-releasing some old gems, I'd be happy to give you some hints, really.

Another thing we could do IMO is release some old vinyl-only tracks on CD (or digitally). Like you said, oldschool Goa music is hard to find as downloads (well, it's finadable but you need to read cyrillic...)

Can I have those hints pls? B)B)

Anyway, more to the point, I have to agree with the folks who observed that there was plenty of bad goa produced in the '90s, but the good ones are remembered. To an extent I'd have to agree that there isn't as much innovation in songwriting today vs in the '90s, but I find plenty of albums that I'd rate good to great.

It's funny though because back to the 90s one of the reasons Goa changed to Psychedelic was because it wasn't innovative any more. In 2-3 years time ppl thought they had heard everything Goa could give them. To be fair the problem was that Goa reached it's height production wise almost from the get go, mid 95 to mid 97.

  6. I'm not a 'chill guy' but the 2 so far box sets you released are simply an amazing artefact if you consider everything.

If in the future you release some mostly up-tempo package I won't be a backer but a very likely buyer.

I always believed there is more quality chill music in digital format than uptempo to be honest, hence why I've sticked with chill so far.

However, proper Goa coming up in the near future if that makes you happy :)

And thnx for your kind words. I do what no label would do since there is no financial benefit to it, hopefully Globular will be a success as well.

BTW, does anyone think they may sell for crazy prices in the future? Maybe I should keep some extra copies for myself, hehe

  7. The vinyl has 100 items on bandcamp and 100 on our shop... So there are 200 in total :)

Else, the cd has indeed 700 prints :)

The shipping: it is the way it is, we print them in Belgium so no possibility to ship it from somewhere else... The best way? Order 5 extra Suntrip cds with it and the shipping is still the same (up onto 1 kg) so then it becomes "cheaper"

You have to admit. This is a f****ng good deal. ?

  8. Shipping of Kaya Project starts on Monday.

Kickstarter for Globular 95% starts the following week.

A true legend planned for the one after.

Goa/Psychedelic Trance release (with a bit of Chill on the side :)) planned for the nearTM future.

Wow, I wish I didn't have to rely on KS (and be slightly rich at the same time) so I could skip the waiting

  9. Congrats! You're making really great choices! I think I saw on Morrison's FB a glimpse of the artwork for the package and it looked really sweet!

Yeap it is. It's from a young guy (recommended by Morison) and i really dig his art.

I decided to risk it and pay for the artwork to be rdy before the Kickstarter because this is what actually takes most of the time for the release to be rdy. So now the waiting will be much much shorter.

We might also share the cover during the Kickstarter as well, we'll see. So many great names to follow :)

  10. Digital Reprints started with a 4xCD box set of Entheogenic. Then followed a 5xCD box set of Kaya Project (ships out on the 4th of September).

For a record label that isn't even a label (community label???) that is pretty F**** huge. So where do you go after that I was wondering? The answer for me was pretty obvious.

Morison Bennett combines elements of Entheogenic, Ott. and Shpongle (Simon Posford), adds his own signature and creates Globular (also he gives his music away for free). 7 years ago, when I heard for the first time Colours of the Brainbow I knew our musical relationship would last for years :) I am so excited to announce that he will be my 3rd release. Colours of the Brainbow, In Formation, A Self-Fulfilling Prophesy, Sorbet For The Soul (with Radioactive Sandwich, yeay), Digging & Building and Up The Xylem Elevator - The Remixes for the first time printed on cd. Plus a bonus 4th cd compiled by Morison himself (unreleased tracks included). What more can you ask?

  11. Hi guys, I feel sad that people refer to such a broad spectrum of electronic music under the "psytrance" umbrella term, ranging from old-school goa trance, all the way to full-on... I mean, when you search for goa trance music, e.g. on Youtube, psy-music.ru or on Spotify, you never know what to expect...It would be like mixing pop rock with hard-rock under one big genre. I like old-school goa trance music and neo-goa, but that's about it...I waste so much time browsing and discarding music online because labelled vaguely or wrongly... On Spotify, there are even playlists labeled as "goa trance", which are actually poor, minimalist, repetitive tunes of no interest to be. Certainly not goa trance music. Regarding the forum, maybe it would be a good idea to divide the top-level section into subgenres? Just thinking at loud...This was the rant of the day :)

Although spot on about the term Goa that everyone uses regardless of the actual music produced I think the idea of dividing the forum accordingly would be a huge mistake. Think of us old schoolers, we wouldn't have anyone reading our rants about how bad NeoGoa is etc etc :P:P:P
