I am just going to repeat what others have said. Making music while tripping (Or I suppose really intoxicated on any substance) just does not happen. It's not that you couldn't fiddle around with your gear or otherwise, it's just that you're trying desperately to answer why you would do such a thing, while you intensely stare into the fractals emerging from your popcorn ceiling. You know, you have to deal with more important issues, like why your hands don't seem to be located where they should be, or why laughter seems to be emitting from your mirror.

However, I will say that psychedelics kind of force you to come to terms with sounds and how they present themselves. We don't often realize that with sounds alone the human mind can fully realize 3-dimensional space. Our ears are designed to tell us where sounds are coming from as a survival mechanism. And when you break down all the elements of music you can physically place specific sounds in specific locations. You don't need psychedelics to affirm that, but they certainly push you towards that affirmation when your ordinary sensory input is being challenged, and with manipulation of those sounds you can suggest much more intricate and abstract physical space.

    Very well expressed

Producing electronic music whilst tripping is HARD. Did it once, in 1995.  I like what came out of that night but I didn't enjoy the process.

Nice, really trippy, sounds are very suggestive. Love the name too, Pharmarama brilliant

  3. We need ranked voting. A third party will never work without ranked choice voting.

Which should be the rule. As well as popular vote. The electoral college is garbage.

    Fuck gerrymandering.

    This sucks.

    Amen.

Many countries have tried to bring in fairer, proportional electoral systems. But the concentrated interests of the major parties tend to fight them. Because the current system works so well for them, why would they want to change it?

  4. About the other options then the two big ones.. How HORRIBLE are those political parties (like the green, or libertarian) compared to this emmence Hillary vs Trump charade?

The other parties must have REALLy sucked and been a HORrIBLE option to only get like 1 and 3 % of the major votes.

A lot of people support the 3rd parties, but make a 'tactical' vote for a major candidate because they believe that voting for a third party is not as important as keeping the other major candidate out of office.

  5. Really interesting album, unfortunately spoiled by poor production. Really lacking in stereo effects and uses the same weak kick and cymbal throughout. A remaster would elevate this from 'good' towards 'great' territory in my opinion... tracks 1, 3 and 5 are mindbending... sadly it's unlikely a remaster will ever happen

  6. These are some of the most overlooked oldschool artists relative to the greatness of their songs. Probably because they never released full albums.

IMHO the tracks posted below are amongst the most psychedelic goa ever. Plenty of darkness and a strong beat. This is the holy grail for those who love the oldschool low frequency analogue sounds, and great use of acid. With the constant buildup every melody is a glorious release.

And a nice gentle downtempo one:

Their work with Ominus is also excellent. Much respect, still listening 20 years later

  7. When I first got into Goa trance many years ago Oforia was an artist that I didn't really like. His sound was too cold and unforgiving compared to the melodic warmth of many other goa artists.

Nowadays I believe that he is most innovative and creative goa artist ever, and responsible for many of the genre's most energetic and mindbending tracks, i.e. Alien Pump. Certainly one of the best producers too. As I mentioned in another thread, tracks like Timelessness predicted the kind of industrial techno music popular recently by 15 years. And tracks like the great choice by Richpa above anticipated and exceeded 2000s psytrance as early as 1997/8.

There are too many great tracks to choose from.

This one is very underrated, has a great build up and absolutely ripping 303:

  8. @Acid brain , just a few seconds but worth checking out if you haven't already.

    Track 32

    Track 33

    from Ubar Tmar - Macrometasomakosmos.

Thanks for the recommendation, it's been years since I listened to that album, ultra-creative, tripped out stuff.

  9. Telementery is badass and huge! Metallic acid worming into my brain. Love the break at 6:05 and when the melody kicks back in at 6:45 the cutoff is turned down like in uplifting trance but in this track it doesn't quite fit together, it's electrifyingly twisted. Boom!

  10. I just don't understand why they turn stuff up so loud in the first place? It tends to just sound completely shit and distorted when your eardrums basically can't handle it anyway, so worse sound + potential damage to hearing. What is the benefit or are the sound people at those places just half deaf already so they don't notice? It's not just a problem in psy/trance scene either. The same thing happens with rock music at a lot of clubs/concert venues too.

It's a scientific effect that loud music sounds better. What I've noticed is that every act in a concert will crank up the volume more than the previous one to sound better and because people are progressively losing their hearing during the concert.

Presidency is a bad institution. Every single presidential administration, going back to Roosevelt and McKinley, has been imperialistic, and the world has suffered from their beligerence and willingness to step on other countries to further American goals. Even supposed peacenik Jimmy Carter was a Cold Warrior whose administration supported the Mujahideen in Afghanistan. http://www.counterpunch.org/1998/01/15/how-jimmy-carter-and-i-started-the-mujahideen/

So no, I don't support any president.

    House of Cards

  12. I know that he is persona non grata around here but it doesn't take away from the fact that he's the best goa artist releasing music today.

The remastered Yoga is fantastic. There's something really special about that track... Crop Circles style bassline hitting all the right frequencies, relatively minimal arrangement, and around 4:00 it all starts to come together and I'm getting sucked into the acid warp.

The Faraoh track somehow combines demented Egyptian melodies, chiptune influences, and acid, modulating everything the entire time and never letting up on the energy. Totally whacked out and wonderful.
