  1. notice the first message: little rule: you can't mention any Simon P projects or TIP... not that they aren't good, but having 30 replies with Shpongle on top wouldn't be any fun 8-D mine: jaia: mai mai transwave: cycles of life ra: signs of life im: dancing with kadafi astralasia: seven pointed star i hope those count...
  2. There isn't just one skull...I lost my link to that stuff but there's quite a few of them...not sure if it's 13 or not though.
  3. I like the doof track ass well Doof = food backwards hows that for a revelation!! someone shoot me...
  4. "Once you love psytrance everything else is bullshit." Yea, really. ESPECIALLY if you're a closed-minded moron...
  5. The Technologically Advanced Music party (logic bomb, shakta) is located in the los angeles china town!! haha sorry bout that...forgot there was one more popular than souther ca's!
  6. I think the elitism comes from: you love music, but don't fully envelope yourself in all aspects of it? It takes 5 seconds to learn to read music or the notes on a keyboard. A semester at a junior college will get you some decent music theory too...of course it's not necessary and actually I think somethings (esp. music theory) can be bad...in the wrong hands anyway...
  7. Who do you think the best (read: your favorite) DJ is? And what's the best mix you ever heard? (recorded mostly but I'd like to hear of some live ones if you can remember it well!)
  8. I do...although I don't discredit any form of music (not even country!) if someone likes it
  9. Jesus...you people are assholes...For gods sake if you're gonna put down someone's tracks then at least say something constructive to counteract your idiocy...Tell them WHY its bad, etc... I'm gonna wait til you bastards have kids and tell you how freakin ugly they are hahah.
  10. Yes...I love this style of uplifting trance...very nice. Like the middle part to "Cycles of life" by Transwave...that stuff turns me to jello!
  11. Thanks everyone, especially Strumpling for his very constructive comment...*rolls eyes*. I don't really have the means to get a "real" program such as Cubase...or whatever, so make due...eh?
  12. Anyone have some starters tips for creating psy sounds? I only use fruity loops so I think I'm pretty limited but I'd like to hear some ideas anyway. Thanks Matt
  13. Hey anyone know any major differences between the rack version and key version? Seems to be a lot less knobs and whatever on the rack...does that mean less real time tweaking? Thanks
  14. Perhaps I should mention more of my purpose...I basically just want to write/produce songs in my home. So just a basic home studio for producing I guess (although you probably assumed as much...)
  15. Okay...this is what pisses me off I wanna buy a studio but I'm not a studio guy! All of the FAQ's I've read have been sort of...not so helpful... Anyway, what do I need to make/record songs? Like should I buy a real synth or a softsynth? Why? Do I need a mixer or can my PC do it? Same with sampling and everything... What hardware do I REALLY need to get? And if I don't...what software do I need to do it's job? Thanks for your help!
  16. I thought Infected was great...I like their older stuff but I still like B.P. Empire a lot, it's not really to be compared. Not better or worse, just different! Like sugar and salt, of course you don't like salt on cookies or whatever but do you like sugar on your steak? Haha, that didn't make sense. Anyway good show I thought.
  17. What does Angel Tears sound like, anyone? Where can I hear some? Thanks
  18. Where do you usually get drum samples? Im looking for "ethnic" drums in particular...djembe, timbale etc... Any clues? Thanks
  19. My ICQ is 16860362, I have Cycles of Life on MP3 if you want it.
  20. Hey, I need some new artists! I like Infected, AP, Chi-AD, Dark Soho, Transwave, Psygone, etc. I like melodies more than "psy" sounds...hmm I like "uplifting" songs a lot too (Jaia "Mai mai", Transwave "Cycles of Life", etc...). Anyway I'm too lazy to read through every freakin review on this site so can I get some suggestions for some groups and some good songs by them? Thanks!
  21. Too much good music! I listen to Psy/Goa, Prog Rock/Metal, Classical, Jazz! And more! Just go and search...give music time. Noone usually "gets" good music on the first listen. Like Stravinsky or Britten or other modern classical composers, its apt to just sound "weird" but it's incredible stuff once you've "figured it out". Hope this helps! I can suggest a bunch of groups if you like...lemme know.
  22. Ah I see...read above on the section entitled modes...it shows a full Phyrigian scale there. The pentatonic section is odd, I've never heard anyone using a Phyrigian pentatonic, or a Lydian pentatonic! Neat stuff I'll have to play around with em, see how they work out
  23. Agh! Everyone thinks music theory is just for writing music! I've never used it for writing pieces (outside of my theory classes), I use it for communication purposes mainly. For instance it's much easier to talk about altered tones and thirds and whatever than to say "Yea I like THIS!" Also it's opened me up a lot to things I didn't know existed (in my own music that is) like motivic development and certain types of voicings... I think a good way to explain it is this: in my studies I asked my private teacher which is the best way to practice and showed him a few ways and he replied "Practice them all", that's sort of the concept here I think too. Why only learn by ear? Or only by books? Why not both? Hah I hope that made sense and Jeff: Yes I did say that about the phyrigian #3 scale and I hope it's true or else I'm a liar!
  24. The Phyrgian scale isn't a pentatonic scale... It's the third mode of a major scale. An F# Phyrigian is F# G A B C# D E F#.
  25. That's what you're SUPPOSED to do in a conservatory. You learn other peoples music for technique and insight into their writing, among other things. Not "because someone tells you to".
