  4. Label: Etnicanet Records Artists: Various. Title: TOTEMISM - ETNICA REMIXED. CAT.No: ET.017 Distribution: Wirikuta Release Date: September 20th, 2007. Compiled by YOUNG KIM (ARKANOYDZ) www.etnicanet.net www.myspace.com/youngkim www.myspace.com/arkanoydz TRACKLIST: 1. PION: THE DOMINATOR - BEACON MIX. 2. PTX: AUTOMATIK - COLORS MIX. 3. ETNICA VS ARKANOYDZ: TOTEMISM - TOTEMIZED MIX. 4. BAMBOO FOREST: MICRODRIVE - REMINDER MIX. 5. WIZZY NOISE: TRIPTONITE - TSUNAMI MIX. 6. DICKSTER: VIMANA - BACK 2 OLDSCHOOL MIX. 7. ARKANOYDZ: THE OBJECT - LOST PLANET MIX. 8. AES DANA & NOVA: TRIPTONITE - ETHILIC EDEN MIX. DESCRIPTION: In the early 90’s the Milanese ETNICA quartet took Psychedelic Goa Trance by storm and spawned a global phenomenon that still today ignites dancefloors and inspires many an artist. Etnica’s tracks have rippled throughout the years, remembered for the spectacular chaos they conjure on dancefloors all over the globe. Compiled by dj Young (Arkanoydz), TOTEMISM is a unique composite of past, present, and future: the moods and musical hues traversed are plenty, segueing in perfect unison. Unforgettable classics are re-defined by the musical character of some of today’s leading artists, yielding exquisitely diverse results that celebrate the full spectrum of our ever-evolving genre in all its glory. TRACK BY TRACK: 1. Pion: THE DOMINATOR: Beacon Mix. (original version @ The Polar E.P., Spirit Zone, 1999). It is to Belgrade-based PION (one of this year’s most promising new talents) to whom we give the pleasure of opening this special release. Gaining worldwide attention thanks to the gravitas and elegance that permeate all of his tracks, Pion injects his trademark clarity & progressive groove to a worldwide hit that marked the beginning of Etnica’s superb years of experimentation (the albums that followed: Equator, Nitrox and Chrome all chart the ‘sonic journey’ Etnica has tread throughout the years). Appropriately entitled ‘Beacon Mix’, Pion’s daptation thrives on clarity coupled with a cogent and graceful simplicity. 2. PTX: AUTOMATIK: Colors Mix. (original version @ Sharp album, Solstice Music International, 2004). PTX is already at the forefront of the international e-music circuit, renowned for his throbbing bass lines, spotless sound crafting and full-power blast effect on dance floors. AUTOMATIK Colors Mix exhibits an elegant deference to its original 2004 counterpart while remaining utterly contemporary. Adorned with audio acrobatics and psychedelic delicacies, Colors Mix is a reliability for every dj looking to take the dance floor to peak experiences. 3. Etnica & Arkanoydz: TOTEMISM: Totemized Mix. (original version unreleased, produced in 1996). The Milanese maestros whose tracks have been remixed for this compilation join forces with the ARKANOYDZ (Giotto, Andrea and Young) and re-interpret an unreleased gem produced back in 1996. Mauri's spine-tingling arpeggios constellate ETNICA’s trademark elegance in composition, while the Arkanoydz implant their interstellar momentum and metallic character to a superb arrangement that inexorably climaxes into a morning feast of melody and groove. 4. Bamboo Forest: MICRODRIVE: Reminder Mix. (original version @ Alien Protein album, BlueRoom Released, 1996). MICRODRIVE Rmx is the first track that Stephane (BAMBOO FOREST) produced upon completion of his new, state-of-the-art studio in Paris – a fact that becomes evident when listening to this gargantuan track. The first half of the remix emanates an old-school Goa feel by means of the original version’s motifs, while the second boasts Bamboo Forest’s trademark complexity and heavyweight inertia. Soaring all about the sonic spectrum are sprinkles and blades of sound, accompanied with synth manoeuvres that intermingle with an exquisite array of percussive funk. 5. Wizzy Noise: TRIPTONITE: Tsunami Mix. (original version @ Alien Protein album, BlueRoom Released, 1996). Cutting-edge specialists of groove Micky & Uriel provide a dance-floor smasher where the symphonic “virtuosismo” of the original TRIPTONITE marries the avant-garde wizardry of WIZZY NOISE. The engineers who crafted hits like Painful Memory, Aquablue, and Irreversible interpret Triptonite (perhaps Etnica's most acclaimed hit to date), setting it ablaze through their unique, eclectic vision and trademark elegance. 6. Dickster: VIMANA: Back 2 Old School Mix. (original version @ Plastic E.P., BlueRoom Released, 1997). Most will remember Dick Trevor (Trickster, Slinky Nuns, Jumanji, AMD), one of the most versatile electronic music producers of our times, as member of the legendary Green Nuns of the Revolution - the English project responsible for hits such as Rock Bitch Mafia, Optimum Creakage, and Magellanic Cloud. Very appropriately, Dickster reassembles VIMANA, one of Etnica's most revered hits to date, embedding those unforgettable riffs and sci-fi mystique into the spotless production standards that so distinguish his sound. 7. Arkanoydz: THE OBJECT: Lost Planet Mix (original version @ Electronic High Vol.2, Solstice Music Int’l, 2001). The ARKANOYDZ set THE OBJECT anew with driving melodic themes, curvaceous bass acrobatics and irresistible groove. The original version’s sci-fi lore is kept throughout the tricksy, labyrinthine arrangement, which unravels a kaleidoscopic construct of percussive force dotted with devastating low-octave synthesizers and evocative pad droplets. 8. Aes Dana & Nova: TRIPTONITE: Ethilic Eden Mix. (original version @ Alien Protein album, BlueRoom Rlsd, 1999) Well-versed in the art of panoramic storytelling, Vincent Vilius (AES DANA, ASURA) and the uber-eclectic Massimo Terranova (dj NOVA) of the wonderful ULTIMAE Records close our Totemic journey with an exquisite treatment of TRIPTONITE, where organic and digital elements complement each other and bloom into a splendid, dreamtime track. As one of the most appreciated labels of its breed, Ultimae’s legion of fans expands and incessantly grows enamoured with their world class production and awesome artist pool.

  7. Those samples are the 'boring bits' of each track... Here are my impressions of the 7even 7isters album: I BELIEVE - EXQUISITE track! nostalgic& melodic with a very ol'skool sounding vocal sample. STARBASE ELEVEN - yes, lots of goa-infused riffs in it. sci-fi mystique abounds. GALACTIC CONQUEST - lots of arpeggiator synth sequences and a great arrangement, super-dynamic for the pleasure of dancefloors. very very nice. ATLAS - my personal favourite along with I BELIEVE and WOTW, as it is both a dancefloor pleaser (the rhythmics are great) and nice synth lines accompanied by utterly evocative pads. CONDITION CRITICAL - lots of sci-fi atmospherics, i love it cos it reminds of older Etnica trax, in that sense. WAR OF THE WORLDS - pure class, very elegant track. Slower bpm but full power. VIMANA P.2 - melodic climax at the end of the track, the arrangement starts off with a 'recap/reminder' of the first Vimana - and that unforgettable sample from Roswell... OUT OF TIME - classy slower track with a nostalgic melodic ritornello... DANCE WITH ME - track conceived in Milan with THE ARKANOYDZ, probably the clubbier track of this lot. All in all I think it'll be a hit on the dancefloors and among dj's, but those looking for IFO will be disappointed I think it is an excellent artist album with lots of Pleiadians feeling and, unfortunately for some: lots of modern characteristics.

  9. Hello Stavros, It's very simple: I have chosen these artists because I feel they will very appropriately remix the tracks I have assigned them (and as I have said in my previous post - they are doing a fantastic job). A few of them even chose their favourite Etnica track to remix. It's a way of paying respect to Etnica's long career and celebrating it on our label's release. I don't understand why you assume that the artists you have mentioned have been 'dropped' from our plans from future releases... In your critique you have not mentioned Rinkadink (whose track appears on our SA2002 Eclipse compilation), Bamboo Forest (who has appeared on our first South African festival on Millennium Eve), Wizzy Noise (appears on our Phase I compilation) - most of these artists have been involved with us much before my compilation. To Everyone, Much respect for your interest in the old unreleased Etnica tracks - we do have plans for those, as well as other old tracks from Etnica (and their other projects) - tracks that no one even knows exist. I did not mention them here because I do not feel this is the thread to discuss this topic. It will all be announced in detail in due course. So with a bit of patience and a bit of faith you will be treated with further surprises. As always we appreciate your honest critiques Ciao!
  10. Hello again Everybody, The compilation is almost ready - so far, it exceeds my expectations. The concept of my compilation is to re-define Etnica's old hits through the artistic hands of some of today's finest musicians of our genre. As you may have feared, we won't be re-releasing the 90's Goa classics or the unreleased DATs, however these remixes are imbued with that psychedelic spirit we all love, yet permeated with modern engineering standards. The artists involved in this project: Etnica. Dick Trevor (Green Nuns / Tufaan / Jumanji etc). Wizzy Noise. Bamboo Forest. Protoculture. Rinkadink. Aes Dana vs dj Nova. On another note, I was expecting a little more input from YOU (we have received some nice photos so far, but are eager for more input from the aficionados) ... don't be shy !! I'll be back with more details soon. Best regards to you all!!
  11. hello Klaxer & thanx for the pics. The release is compiled by me, I've had this idea for a while now and feel that 2006 is a good year to celebrate our label's main artist unit. 10 years have passed since Alien Protein, and 2006 also coincides with Etnica's new album (coming soon @ Solstice Rec) and the new Pleiadians album (coming soon @ Harmonia Rec).
  12. hello Stavros, I am waiting for the last artists' confirmations. Once that is done, there will be more infos posted. pls bear with us! ciao.
  13. greetings Everyone, we really appreciate the interest, and shall post some samples in the weeks to come, pls bear with us we are playing our first live in Trieste (northern Italy) this month at the ELECTROBLOG FESTIVAL (it's an eclectic festival as far as lineup is concerned, so we're really looking forward to it). in the meantime, please check the promotional thread on my upcoming compilation, which will be released on ETNICANET Recordssoon, and please send your contributions (photos, texts, etc). ciao!
