Winner of what? Winner of the "Infected vs Astral vs Posford vs Cropcircles/Pleiadians thread award 2008"? What's the prize?
just nice to have public input for those producers and budding producers who want to go as FAR as they can with this lifestyle and career choice. as far as im concernced those are the 4 most successful people but i dont know much just a USA perspective.
you know the saying, knowledge is half the battle. so just trying to create a nice discussion and inform those who wanna do this. but once again the psynews attitude prevails.
are there any other serious goa forums or are they all filled with juvenile clowns?

Ok ill break it down and then give my winner
Infected mushroom - talented dudes no doubt. Made the transition from goa to sellout very smooth. Im sure they made a decent amount of money and there popularity is still high. lots of classic tracks
Astral projection - very catchy and appealing to the masses. great tracks, good consistency.. bad transitition from goa to sellout
Posford - can do it all.. pretty much the bible of goa.. more common of a name.. but a double edged sword.. good cuz its common bad cuz its "common" in a world of individuality. im sure made money and i wouldnt consider him as selling out just changed his sound and for the better IMO.
crop circles/pleiadians - the most talented and skilled, highest frequency of quality and my persoal favorite. dont know about the money factor for them and i wouldnt say they sold out just some gaps of creative differences im sure.
clear winner = posford

Were all the decent DJ names already taken or something?no DJ condom is the name of a track they made.. they gave out 500? copies with a condom to promote safe sex. i think the dj condom track sounds like a weak ass open society.

All AP albums are cheesy IMO but this is not neccessarily a bad thing. They know how to make cheesy fun & interesting without going to far into kiddie pop! The runs, the melodies, the samples are all examples of good cheese IMO
melodies and samples make cheese i agree..
but i think astral has awesome samples.. and melodies
i would say like a tiesto track is cheese. with the melody and sample

IMO AP never released a cheesy album. Amen was clubby, not cheesy.
As for Another World I believe that was actually the less cheesy AP album. It had a lot of tracks that were darker than the usual AP style and was very spacey.
About the new album... Well, I believe that it's pretty obvious what to expect. I guess it will be in the same style with Amen. A combination of Goa, a touch of full on and melodic prog and clubby atmosphere. As long it has great melodies then I'm ok with that.

the latest mahadeva remix sounds like that. it made me SICK

Different strokes for different fokes. Some ppl like psy, some people like goa, some like both. I absolutely love Another World, but I guess it's over-the-top for some people.
to m e astral are the masters. any mix i ever make or play will at minimal include 1 astral track. even if i listen to wutang clan i still have at least 1 astral track there.

"Amen" was cheesy. "Another World" was cheesy. I do like a fair amount of cheese, but both albums were pretty bad. There, I said it. I have absolutely no expectations for the new album, so perhaps I could be pleasantly surprised.

Hmm. We'll I don't expect anything revolutionary about the new album. It really is taking them time to make this new one, I'm sure it will be a good release, jus how good I dunno.. I'm giving it hope tho
Ed: Oh and, AP allways released their music for free in 128 kbit fyi. I remember mp3.com, if it wasn't for those mp3s I'd probably never hear about ap in the first place. At that time I was still a kid, I couldn't afford any music.
yeah i remember the mp3.com days.
that was wild then, but they have daughters now. they are getting older.. tastes change.. money is needed. plus when you have a kid its really great to get them expensive stuff and watch their faces light up. now im by no means saying spil them, but when the time comes get them great stuff
plus if you have a daughter you want her to rock the best clothes at school of course, have the freshest ride to school.. etc etc

amen was nice..
ten i dont even count because it was just a bunch of full on remixes
but amen was decent. had its moment of cheese, but things are not looking to good for this new one..
anyone got any news as far as releases BTW?
in case you havent checked on their myspace they have a bunch of SFX tracks from the rainbirds album, plus some nitzo tracks from comps and what not. gotta pay to DL, AS IT SHOULD BE

Thank you, i have been way to unproductive the last 2 years, so I figured out (some 2 months ago) that i will start this again. I have however had some problems with my soundcard and other things which have put me back in Schedule a little bit, but finally figured out TODAY that my soundcard actually is NOT broken, but that Vista/MAC again had fucked with the firmware of it (DOH that I did not find this before and have pulled my already bald heads hair out for 3 months). Problem however fixed, and I actually managed to re-start on a track I am working on which is NOT for the label, but for someone else. It feels super cool to be back in business!
So Re:Launch in a couple of months!
about 2 months ago.. isnt that the time i was telling you to do this but you kept saying how "cool it was to keep it free".
another thing Lu Bu has done to improve upon the life of just one of MANY members. but we dont see or talk about that, we only focus on the negatives he does. thats ok with me though

I'm not Nemo but I think I have some knowledge in music production
So it goes like that - you obviously didn't use a single compressor or equalizer in the track. Getting the instrument balance (of levels) isn't done right as well. Bass is way too boomy, makes the kick (and the rest) disappear somewhere in the background.
Sound selection is not best as well. Gets boring really quickly since there are only like 2-3 sounds there which hardly change, and when they do - it's done in an uninteresting way.
Anyway, keep writing. You'll get the hang of it with time.

but its so unique it kinda is interesting
anyways nemo post some of your tracks so i can tell you they are good because i have already told you that because i speak the truth even if it isnt necessarily my style it sounds good.
maybe my newest track would interest you more?

It lacks depth & I don't like the sample but the crunchy beats are nice.
