party drugs have been part of the scene for longer than the scene itself (they were prevalent before goa split off of trance). so these drugs cannot be responsible.
Off course, I didn't state it wasn't there and single responsible.
The rest I agree 100%.
Society changed a lot.
At the same Spanish party I was talking to Shiva Jörg - with whom I shared the line up back then - and I asked him some questions regarding that change.
He added that you created bookings for yourself in the 90's when you were original and inventive as a dj or artist. Creating new things that stood out of the rest of the field. Meaning: if you were a musician thinking outside the box you got booked.
Nowadays cross bookings too add to the destruction of that original philosophy. More than enough line ups are dominated by cross bookings as a business model. Creativity isn't that much rewarded as it used to be.
BUT even in this climate originality is to be found, like it always was
...makes it therefore even more special

I too think that this is a major reason why this is happening. People need to go back to shrooms and acid ha haaaa!
Well, I have my reasons
1. My first wake up call was a few years ago, when I had to play at a Goa party abroad of Belgium (not Israel this time, but Spain) and played a Artha-tribute set.
The organiser said this music was too psychedelic and too futuristic - lol!
She literary said: "People take cocaine and speed, they crave beat music and yours is just too psychedelic."
Since than it strikes my mind and I study the reactions from people on the dance floor more into detail.
She really has a point. In general people indeed consume more easy going drugs 'to stay' inside the comfort zone and choose more for mind narrowing drugs instead of the less 'safe' mind expending onces.
Goa consumers at parties and festivals have changed a lot, so did the 'music' that has been produced now: maybe we can really talk about neo Goa, but more since 2010 instead of since 2000, when these type of drugs really took it almost all over and everything - including its 'artists' - followed. The beat became more and more primary and the rest of the sounds is filling it up.
2. An artist - who his name I shall not mention here - who makes newer Goa and tours a lot over the entire globe - told a friend of him (also an artist) to better make easy going and more superficial melodic Goa (read: less psychedelic) that the crowd can easily consume. The music isn't that good, but you tour a lot (on big festivals).
Seems he is right, cause he is darn 'successful' these days
More safe, predictable and less psychedelic Goa merges more and more.
Off course there will be exceptions, but ... damned a 2nd non political correct post (look at me go). Let me hope no organisers will read this

To be honest: these remixes sound like the average 'neo' goa imo: clean and very prominent bass with a repetitive 1,2,3,... rhythm in it and less psy and a more simple 'melody'. Especially around 0:40, 2:30 and 5:20, 7:10 it is very clear.
Since coke and speed took over the (goa) scene dance floors, people want more bass music, less focused on the psy side of Goa.
Here the (Brazilian) crowd seems to love it, and that is what gets booked - Goa is business nowadays, and with busines the music quality follows (down hill).
Looking at their reactions, I think this new generation loves it and doesn't consider it a butchering (by a lack of musical back ground and history?).

Manuser is a smart guy, he knows that nobody listens to the countless recommendations here, but he also knows that everybody wants to be the guy with last word on the mastering. Nice way to get us all to listen to a great track.

Agree, there's nothing wrong with the mastering. I guess your main issue is the long release on the kick - but that's an acquired taste, was pretty typical back then and you can't really do anything with it without gating the individual stems (separate tracks for instruments).

Well, I don't agree fully.
Track 3 & 4 really have some (volume) over steer in my opinion.
High tones are a bit too loud in comparison to the sub base and low tones. I think

I love the mastering:
the (sub)base is so fucking amazing and wonderful present. Like everything floats on this fluffy deep mellow context where the trippy trance drive gets it's full energy from. Pumps like crazy.
What strikes my mind the most, is that the sound is very dynamic and NOT loud at all. Something that's really been missing in the modern (goa) scene today (cf. maximal mastering for out door sound systems).
Maybe this youtube user compressed the sound to make it louder and that is why you get the not good youtube sound.
Seems like that?! Or what is your source, the original disc?For a test, put up the original disc on play now.
I trust my Equators on this: badly produced music they tare apart and badly mastered music sounds always too loud and pains the ears.
Edit: track 4 has issues I think: over steer on the high tones.

Soo, everyone who likes this release is an overhyped Artha bunny, T2MU? Also out of his previous releases I only like the DNA track. Personally think that this album is better than anything he released before
I don't think Cronomi has enough resources and man power (like some others) to create a typical hollow internet hype
But hey guys, chill down: I don't like this album either!!!

Too bad this isn't the one. Well, like stated here before: it is actually more normal trance, especially when one listens to the melodies and arrangements.

Honestly, I have been reading (and writing) reviews on Psynews since 2001 or so (just like you
), and there was plenty of negative reviews back in the day too.Only difference today is: almost all labels and artists are members here, and that is why you have to justify every single negative thing you have to say about music. Back then, you did not have to justify your review because people were less sensitive and labels/artists did not get involve.
I can't remember AP, MFG, IM, Dimension 5, Etnica posting on this forum. Neither Phonokol, Matsuri, Dragonfly, TIP records lol
I am not saying labels and artists should not get involved on Psynews that is not my point. Just saying it (IMO) justifies (among other things) the lack of reviews.
But I am very surprised that some people don't dare to write positive reviews about music, that is honestly the first time I read such thing when it comes to goa trance. About full on it would less surprising since this style is bashed on this forum, but goatrance it surprises me a lot, unless this is the Filipe Santos effect lol

1. Another very important thing is, that enough people here don't dare to openly speak their mind cause they are afraid to do so.
Almost every form of criticism is often seen and interpreted as "you are against us". We have seen it in the topics about mastering, or when we discuss the technical side of music making like production skills, or the Anoebis-Boom interview when we talked about the importance of production in goa music (where even the criticism was banned to a closed tread),.. We live in a time were many people are over sensitive, and feedback is mainly absorbed as "you are negative" or their replies ridiculed.
Many people - even when they had good arguments - were seen as trolls, and their opinions taken mainly with a lot of hostile reactions. With even replies like: "why are you bashing here?"
I think artists, labels, dj's and the general public should realise we can only get the same level of quality (of what we idealise as "old is gold") when we put the same creative effort into making music today. Yes, this means we should involve all and be a bit more mentally strong to cope with (well founded) criticism and (negative) feedback.
2. And everything is so connected (look at the line ups these days - it is 80% cross bookings - maybe it was also like that in the past?). So being afraid not to get booked or heard from again plays a huge role.
There are many goa dj's on this forum, never (daring) to speak their mind openly; cause - in what I feel - they are connected with the label or with an artist which have both connections to get them on a party, festival,... Our ego's have become mad in that way.
3. In our time now, we live in an age when people just do less effort in creative writing and dare to dig deep and fall not in clichés about everything from the past was better. We are becoming more and more passive consumers and let everything come to us. This is dangerous, as we destroy the critical feedback on music. The music we adore so much.
When I started collecting goa in '99 I spend most of my student savings on music. I never bought a CD - yes we had to do that in order to have music - that was bad. Why? Cause it costed me much money (back in those days around 20/25 euro - I still have some CDs with the price tags on them). We had to be critical...(not stating there was no crap back than).
In my opinion music became to accessible and way to cheap. The online culture makes music appear as free and effortless in obtaining it. I was even called greedy by a guy cause we ask €12 for a brand new CD that has been worked on for 4 years. Imagine?!
One artist from the 90's told me: "You were never booked in Goa on a party if you weren't inventive and stood out against all the others".
And to be honest I agree. Let us face it, close your eyes on an average psy dance floor and try to guess who is playing a live set. I’m sure many will mingle them. The creative uniqueness is disappearing everywhere: artists, dj's and in the taste of the general public. We all tend to move to a mono culture, afraid to be left alone. Hypes and followers are born.
For example: look at the biggest festivals: they sell tickets even before a line up is fully announced: they are good salesmen. They sell an experience instead of music. We also here became followers of adverts and media gurus; we dare not to criticise. Afraid to feel left out of this so called 'experience or gathering of the tribe' - lol!
I'm not lying; you can read a very interesting book about this: "Charles Taylor - Sources of the Self". As a Canadian philosopher he explains this trend into detail. And it is is very recognisable into the (goa) music business.

Suntrip artists dominate - or are almost always involved - in almost every line up in neo goa festivals and parties across the 3 countries where goa parties are given on a regular bases: Belgium, Spain and Croatia. So I think Suntrip isn't 'unhip' like you state As far I can recall your Suntrip sales tread of last year, you guys sell enough CDs to survive, no?You have build up such a strong image, a solid label and brand name that everyone recognises. I wouldn't panic that fast

I so adore the funkiness in his 100% psychedelic techno music. Would release shit like this without doubt... Talking about track 1, 3 and 8- bliss!!! Rest is mediocre.

1) Important message. The takeaway: if information sources are personally attacking the people raising issues rather than their ideas, they are likely part of a disinformation campaign. I've seen it many times before. I would have liked to have seen more concrete examples regarding Wikipedia though, and a more positive message about it.

They must have one thing in common: inspiration & alternative truth.
