1. if you are ever travelling to Cape Town, South Africa (and you should, its one of the most beautiful places on earth), Try go to a Vortex party or an AlienSafari (www.aliensafari.co.za) or just look on www.3am.co.za for most psyparties in South Africa. Vortex is the loudest but most mainstream (not as mainstream as house-muic clubs though)they are massive outdoor events, and they have the best sound system i have heard in my life. 80 000watts last time i checked...

Alien Safaris are smaller and more underground, however they rock more than anything. they are awesome.

  2. Once upon a time i found myself at an outdoor psytrance festival and in the morning they started playing some pretty insane stuff. I heard a Psytrance version of this tune:

Hyperlogic - Only me (Stimluant Dj's RMX), an old hardhouse tune, although this version was very similar, it had a definate psy-twist to it now, pulsating bassline, acid sweeps etc. if anyone knows of a psy remix of that tune, i will roll all your joints for you a month.

  3. more than 150 sounds cheesy to me , 135-140 is perfect...

    197011

yeah, that is perfect. i do like full-on psytrance as well, so 145 is ok towards the end of a set, but not for too long and i kinda draw the limit at that. unless its a real stormer like Eskimo's - let it all out and im on a half-kilo of crystal meth and busy dancing like a villian.

if i want to hear anything faster, ill listen to some dieselboy. 200bpm woohoo!!

  4. Anybody know of some awsome high-energy, melodic, uplifting, morning trance stuff?? i'll give a few names of what im talking about.

Exaile - Boost (or Exail - one of the tribe)

    Brain XL - Rodeo Driver

Eskimo - let it all out

Skazi and Paranormal Attack - the Bitts

Talamasca - Kung fu lesson (feat DJ ananda)

Silicon Sound - Shodan (awesome track)

and while im here, i heard what i think was a remix of Silicon Sound - Shodan, but have no clue as to who has done a remix of that song, any help guys?

  5. Recently, I´ve had my CDJ100S on a party where it was very dusty, I guess the people danced way too hard ;-). Well, somehow they seem to be a bit fucked up now, I can´t spin the jogwheel that easy as I could before, seems there has gathered  some dust under it.

Now my question: Is it possible to remove the jogwheel and clean it without the risk of damaging something? And can I fix them properly again after I´ve cleaned them?

    Thanks

yeah dude, its pretty simple to remove it. you'll need to open up the deck itself, unscrew everything, but just remember where all the parts go. you wont need to remove much to remove the jog wheel. my mate also got loads of dust in his and he had to clean it the same way. opening the cdj's will void the warrenty though :(

  6. Hello everyone. My first post here after getting past the bouncer :)

Boom '04 was fantastic. Take a look at my pics:

Indeed the DJ line was almost incidental. But whatever happened to DJ Elf?

Also James Munro played some lurvely breaks inspired traxs yum yum.

    Cheers!

looking at ur pics now, damn , looks like i missed a good one. stupid london parties.

  7. I totally agree. Even solid 145 for a long time is a bit much.

    196923

yeah, nice towards the end of a set. but i like sets that start somewhere in the region of 130 and slowly edge their way thru to like high-energy 140 - 145, but seldom more than that. kinda hard to dance to 170 bpm's !!!

  8. try Eskimo :) And especially his Voodoo People Remix!

or Let It Out :D ... fast stuff

    196933

hehe, "let it out" is like 155, but its a rocking tune, voodoo people also very good. but eskimo gets away with it. 2 rare examples of really fast AND really good psy tunes.

  9. All tracks using this sample are full on. actually all tracks not using this sample too.

    196777

after the sample, it started pumping full-on. it had a groovy bassline, but it was still pretty full on.....dude how am i supposed to describe the rest of it. i was trollied at the time.

  10. But I'm a bit shocked by the image you have from trance parties. I've been to a lot of trance parties (I mean commercial ones), big ones with names like Tiesto and smaller ones organised by private people. And there never ever was a fist fight or anything like this! Maybe it deependes where you are from. But here trance parties are also peacfull and funny. Of course not in a psy way of peacfull but still ok to go (if you like the music of course). So I think it should and will be possible to make commercial psy parties still worth going. Btw here are allready big commercial parties that have a psy floor. Some are of course bad but some open airs with a psy floor really rocked the crwod. And goa heads and trance heads danced together without any problem. But that's of course in peacfull little Switzerland...

    196733

hahaha, no dude, your not understanding me. I have never been to such a trance party, all of the psy parties in South Africa are all peace, love and fun times and all that. never seen a fist fight. But i have in commercial clubs and mainstream events. and that is my point. once all the mainstream people start arriving in hordes at our parties which we to some extent, hold sacred, all these bad vibes are gonna arrive along with them. what i described above is my dismal vision of the future of psy parties.

on the other hand, i also agree that most "top of the pop" teeny boppers wont want to hang around with "those strange dreadlocked individuals" grooving in the dust . mainly because of ignorance and no idea of what the whole culture is about. the thing is once people find out about it, it will spread. the day i see skazi or someone on top of the pops i will slit my wrists.

  11. ... and I don't want to see Infected on MTV one day, that would be horrible for me as millions of morons would jack off to the music and radio stations will start to play them and they will get overplayed like all the commercial crap and not a long time afterwards psytrance festivals will be overcrowded with techno-shitheads and hardcore-skins who came to this music through infected and they will bring bad, agressive vibrations and- ... nonono, I don't even want to think about it!

    196717

unfortunately, and it breaks my heart to say this...it will happen. psy will become commercial. and at this point in time if that happens. it will be infected's fault more than anyone elses (sorry, im Infected-Bashing again). i can just see it. drunken fist fights and stabbings and Ego's.com at a psy festival. condisending attitudes and music that you probably have heard played on sunday afternoon radio.

    however....

i believe that all is not lost. underground will never die and as soon as psy parties start becoming mainstream, more and more underground parties and underground music will start popping up. and when that happens, i know where i'll be. and it wont be in a drunken fist fight because someone knocked my beer over whilst having my brain torn apart by DJ tiesto on the main dance floor.

  12. i fully agree with you, its a state of mind you need to get into to really enjoy psychedelic music, the drugs just make it easier to get into that state of mind, but they are most definitely NOT essential. i have been to psy parties on nothing but a few drinks and had an awesome time.

Its a proven fact that when you put someone (completly sober) in a chaotic environment (say for instance a 5 day festival) with no drugs but surrounded by chaos and mad people flailing their arms, and a 100k sound system pumping full on psytrance, that you are going to go insane, wether you took drugs or not, so yes, i must fully agree with you on that point.

and on another apologetic matter...i regret to inform that i need to apologise for my harshness towards infected's new single, cities of the future. i dont think i was ready for such a harsh change and it shocked me, i ripped the cd out of my discman and threw it across the room in disgust. however, i recently picked it up from the floor where it had been for 4 days, smoked a "cigarette" and had another listen.....and dare i say it........its not that bad. the violet vision rmx is actually...*shock, horror* very good. but i guess i have to accept it for what it is, electro, and not psy. so apologies for my harsh comments earlier. it seems after a few listens, its sort of grows on you a bit.

  13. i think a decent dj set needs a good balance of different styles, wether it starts with dubby, dnb stlye psy, then slow progressive, and ending off with some killer fullon stuff. its all about good balance. even the dj is playing good full on. i dont want to hear psycho-full on for 6 hours straight or whatever.

its all about balance. throw in a madonna tune for all i care, might surprise the crowd.

  14. hehe, yeah, i will try accept that they wont be coming back. oh well. whats on psyshops recommended section? exail's new cd? ill have that thank you!

i will say the last song on infected's new album is very good. i cant deny it. but im not forking out 10 quid for 1 song. thank you soulseek, you made having the cd, worth what i payed for it.
