  1. You've got the argument before your nose, but you failed to see it. My point is that even if people like it, they'll rather see the record label die before helping it. The ideology of "sharing" far exceeds the idea of spending a little of one's hippie-cash on something other than "the bare essentials".

Can you give me examples of the opposite? What is happening to Twisted just underscores what I'm saying.

I really don't believe people want to see a label die. They just don't take responsibility for the fact labels are dying partly because of them. People don't feel responsible for it. Because they are just one tiny part of the whole downloading business, besides them there are 10 000 000 others to blame.

If the industry would addept to the changed market they wouldnt have to beg for sales anymore, they wouldnt have to beg for one's hippie cash because they would already be spending it..

  2. But Twisted is about to bankrupt. And What is Hallucinogen without Twisted?  As I remember he didn't want to make 4. Shpongle and cause high expectation he doesn't want to go with third Hallucinogen.

He loves his Live shows and probably will go on with them but there is a possibility that he will step down to underground...

If they are about to go bankrupt it is because of bad management.. NOT only because of bad sales. There will be loads and loads of labels that would love to release a shpongle album.

However, there seems to be a large majority who are so insistent on downloading that they'd rather see Twisted Music burn to the ground than to help them out - with the little they ask.

I can imagine a lot of people rubbing their hands with a big grin when they've finally erradicated the scene of big names due to financial reasons, and all we're left with is 128 kbps mp3's, badly, badly tagged, and equally intense bitching about the lack of quality in the music.

the very fact they are downloading the album means they (most probably) like it. If so the rest of your assumptions don't make any sense. i don't think anyone is rubbing their hands if a label dies.

  3. No he's not gonna change anything, but that takes from him the right to bitch?

What would you expect to say?

''Hello Simon here! I finally finished my album after 3 years of hard work, but if you want to steal it from me, it's ok! I wub you all!''

It's his music, so he can bitch all day long for all his life.

I wish all the artists have the balls to bitch about piracy.

of course he has all the right to bitch (about albums leaking before release). But it is a little odd to complain (while the piracy is going on for years already) too. basically he is complaining about this:

I run a business, now the market has changed but i am still running my business like i did before and hey all of a sudden my business isnt doing well anymore!! God damn I hate the market change and all the people with it that changed it! It should change back to what it was...

Any normal business would react with a change of businessmodel. Sure there would be bitching between employees at the coffeemachine about the changed market, but they would change their businessmodel or go bankrupt. So far most labels didnt change their model at all and are still trying to work the old way.

I am not saying piracy is a good thing. But I can imagine it could also be different than what it is now if labels/ artists/ distributors changed their businessmodel and addepted to the market. How exactly this should be done I don't know although i have some ideas. Changing the prices for digital downloads would be the first!

  4. 600 sold cd's is not much really if you consider you need at least 1000 copies to start pressing.

600 PRESALES which is alot for a chillout album nowadays. Would be interesting to know how much they sold so far from each cd they released. Or even how many they printed of the ineffable mysteries.

I'm guessing flying the photographer to India and then designing the cover art in this case took this much.

so if you think about it... it's really not that much... we're not exactly talking about greed here.

In these times I would consider flying a photographer to another country just for a cd cover extremely bad management...

Don't get me wrong here. I really love most of the shpongle stuff (early work more than now) and own most of their cds but I find it really stupid and unprofessional that he is whining about it. But it seems to pay off because many people are all of a sudden buying twisted stuff now.

  5. making good basslines takes a while.. but of course there is people that can help and give you some pointers.

Important things to consider besides checking the very extensive isratrance bassline topics:

It shouldnt work any different for fl than for cubase for example except for the daw structure. The idea is the same.

    - short attack with enough decay to let through the meat of the sound, very short release

    - dont cut too much mid out of the basssound

    - sidechain the bass to the kick

    - distortion can fatten it up but don't overdo

    - make sure kick and bass fit together.

    - experiment with the lenght of your midi notes and with the placement and velocity to give it some funk

    - don't make the bass sound too complex. Usually one or two oscs is enough. Dont phase/ chorus/ delay too much unless you use it as a send effect and cut off the lower part to make sure the bottom still sounds fat

    Good luck!

  6. It's amazing that ALL those years you all suck Simon's dick and treat him like a God, but when the guy is bitching that all of you Simon believers STEAL his album you laugh and insulting him.

    'One way share' is stealing.

bitching about downloading is like bitching about getting older.. sure you can bitch about it but it doesnt make much sense because you are not going to change anything. And charging $1,90 for an mp3 to download on a twisted site isnt gonna change much either...

Downloading music will pay off when people start to download lots and lots and this will not happen when tracks stay this expensive.

    just my 2 cents ;)

  7. You are an idiot. Twisted is in a deep financial trouble. Would you be angry if you just finished an album that you've been working for 3 YEARS, and you are almost at bankruptcy.... and some fuck head took your un-released album and put up some shitty ass MP3 on the net for free download.

Not only that the people find a nerve to go back to fucking twisted website and review the album ALREADY, but also bith about the sound distortions FROM the MP3's as well!!!

You should be ashamed of yourself.

    bla blah...

stop bitching about the downloading. You know it will be out there in no time. Crying on a public forum is pretty sad when you have been in the music industry for a long time and you know how it goes...

They have to follow their market and not hang on to old fashioned methods. Not everybody keeps buying 18$ cds... So keep up and try something new.

I showed the budget to a manager who ran island records for 10 years and asked how this is possible, and he replied that we are paying the musicians too much, and spending a lot on production….. which is fine by me - the musicians are all amazing, i am in awe, and i want them to be paid well because they work hard.

So he is complaining about the bankaccount of twisted but he is also saying he is happy to spend "too" much on lights and artists.. uh.... ???:blink:

  8. I got tired of quoting after that. Just for the ones that didn't know, Storm Thorgerson, the dude that shot the album cover... has also done a few things in the past....

    Posted Image

a few things... i don't know if it's the worst album cover thus far, but I will bet money it was the most expensive one so far for the twisted crew.

    just fyi...

edit: no wait, i think he also shot the last younger brother's album cover... never-mind... then...

Well you can vaguely see the two guys from the last yb cover in this picture in the third window!

  9. Astrancer

    Paradise Connection

    Koxbox

Each one project talks (..or talked) for itself and leads your mind to xpansion. (good old..."hype"!)

astrancer? really bad name for a trance act imho.

koxbox leads to mindexpansion? wtf? cocksbox? It doesnt make any sense really..

  10. Build some diy basstraps? it takes a day but really improves the sound in your room. The more the better. Layering could work, but could also make it more complex without adding anything. Put a similar track (thats well produced) next to yours and listen if it differs from yours. It could also help to put a freq analyzer on your masterbus and see if it becomes an almost straight line except from the lower freqs that are usually a little harder than the rest.

And take a look at all these quality artists you have there in denmark ;) I am sure flowjob for example wouldnt mind helping you out!

And don't forget: the artistic opinion of the supergroover is always a little more equal than that of the other artists ;):P:ph34r::DB):unsure:

  11. well.. basically pretty much all music is 3d. You can pan sounds to the left and right. You have low and high freqs. And soft sounds or big reverbed sounds will sound far away and hard short reverbed sounds will sound close. So there you already have 3 dimensions. How much can you add to that? It will only sound more 3d i think if it is in 5.1, But i doubt if any psytrance is made in 5.1

  12. I don't exactly know what they mean by saying that. It could be the mastering studio, because it doesnt mention anything about mastering. Or it could be the studio where they made the album.

Both albums you mention are from the uk. So it could easily be one of those instead of a ultrasupersounding tool to enhance 3d. There is something called a stereo enhancer which does give it a wider feel. But if they used it they probably did during the production. Or maybe a little on the master.

Maybe mars or anoebis can shed some light on this.

  13. 2. Related to (1) in that there seems to be some need for the long, epic, storytelling movements. Why can't someone make a catchy goa killer that's 4 minutes and doesn't need to be longer? Most tracks contain way less than they extend. This is mostly about goa, which is not as dependant on the hypnotic effect as psytrance generally is.

How does Goatrance not depend on the hypnotic effect compared to most psytrance (fullonish stuff i assume you mean)?. I think it depends even MORE on hypnotic melodies and sequences than most psytrance. Often nothing more than a change in cutoff is used during whole parts of a tune.

  14. Definitely. It's the only Geomagnetic release I own, but it's absolutely fantastic.

The Mr. Rogers album is ok. Didnt even know it was Geomagnetic until i read it here.

The rest of the label isnt too interesting imho.

  15. I don't think he is actually trying to give a really accurate description of all the genres. And some he made up himself like buttrockgoa. And others he left out like progressive psytrance. Don't take it too seriously (how can you with these descriptions :P ) and just enjoy yourself i'd say.

  16. Hey Kataclyzm,

it doesnt matter that much with which program you start. Fruity loops is quite easy to start with, but most people work in ableton, cubase & logic. It might be a little more difficult to learn from the start, but in the end you ll enjoy it. There are loads of tutorials on youtube about the different programs. Also check the isratrance forum. There is loads of info to be found. Good luck! =)

  17. So your telling me that hypothetically if you were pissing somewhere and someone came up to you and kicked you down, you wouldnt retaliate physically? Alpha male or not, if you would do nothing thats just being a pussy. Unless you just like for people to do whatever they want to you and then get away with it. Physical force requires a physical reaction imo.

You are not just pissing somewhere, but in the middle of a party. And it looks like you are too f....d up to actually do anything besides letting it all go ;) So I don't think you are very capable of kicking him back

If hypothetically i would be pissing just about anywhere (near a tree, bushes, side of the road, whatever) and somebody would kick me it would be a totally different situation and the kicker would be the biggest ass at that moment imho. Then of course a reaction would be appropriate. Whether it is a physical response depends again on the situation. A random twat might indeed apply for a somewhat uncomfortable physical reaction, but if it is a friend with a bad sense of humour that should not be the case.

    And whats wrong with pussy?
