"i'm not even going to listen to the samples.." Me neither. I have Midnight Sun which I was impressed with at the time it came out, and I have Aztechno Dream which was decent. But his latest album looked and sounded so stupid and dull that I just gave up on Alien Project completely. Having said that, I bet this album will still sell like hotcakes; I'm just not sure who too.

Oh of course, who could forget Alien Protein. And I can't believe I didn't think of: Jaia - Blue Energy So here's my top ten melodic goa albums in no particular order: Electric Universe - Stardiver Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy Astral Projection - Trust in Trance Transwave - Helium MFG - New Kind of World Cosmosis - Synergy X-Dream - We Created Our Own Happiness Jaia - Blue Energy Man With No Name - Teleportation Man With No Name - Moment of Truth Just barely cut from the top ten (again in no particular order): Doof - Let's Turn On Miranda - Phenomena Etnica - Alien Protein X-Dream - Panic in Paradise X-Dream - Trip to Trancesylvania Pleidians - IFO Cosmosis - Cosmology Blue Planet Corporation - Blue Planet MFG - Prophecy Astral Projection - Another World Transwave - Phototropic

You think so? I'm surprised actually. For me: Helium > Phototropic > Hypnorythm. But Phototropic is good too, dont get me wrong. Both Helium and Phototropic would be hard (impossible?) to get nowadays so for anyone that doesn't have either, get whichever you can, or both for that matter (if you find them somewhere). Transwave - MDMA <--- !!!
-
I'll agree with Kristian's picks (but I would go with Transwave - Helium as a slightly better pick than Phototropic). To his list I'll add: Man With No Name - Teleportation Man With No Name - Moment of Truth Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy Astral Projection - Trust in Trance Cosmosis - Cosmology Electric Universe - Stardiver X-Dream - We Created Our Own Happiness And Slide - Unstable isn't that great (in my opinion). It's decent but doesn't stand up to some of the other great albums already listed.

Celtic Cross Ooze Releases on Butterfly records. Releases on Planet Dog records like older Banco De Gaia...

Whatever is done, it should be done so there is a clear replacement for the current forum and not two forums competing with each other I think.

Well I think Freq - Strange Attractors is that good. I would agree that Son Kite - Colors sounds good at first but a lot of tracks progress very slowly in parts and have not enough layers. It's still a good purchase for me, but I find myself only wanting to really listen to the last 3 tracks or so. Polaris... don't bother. Abakus - That Much Closer to the Sun not ground breaking but a real nice varied mellow happy chill cd. Nano - Origin is a pretty solid compilation with a couple wicked songs, a few good ones, and one or two rather boring tracks. I would say my favorite track on here is The Electric Ant - First Run (Commercial Hippies Remix). Nano - Wind Up opens with nice Talamasca track, follows with a super dull plodding Tristan track, then comes a couple of ho hum scratchy darker tracks (eh...), it picks up a bit at track 5, and then I quite like the last four tracks. As a general comment on Nano, these last two compilations of theirs are good but not as great as their earlier ones I think (which were so solid). I hope this is just a blip on the radar screen and they will follow with another Emergence or Clarity so to speak. And I must add that I really like sound of the Commerial Hippies whenever I hear them. I'm curious if they will release a full album. It could be quite good.

Yeah, a good comparison is to Silicon Sound. Although, they are not exactly the same. Just have a similar vibe I think. Both very good albums actually.

"i also met lots of people who really love the psychedelic-tra music and smoke pot non-stop, drop tonns of acid in order to save the world" Ah ha ha... so true. Mind you that's true of all hippies. They love to travel and talk and talk and protest and smoke pot and go to concerts and collect unemployment insurance so they can travel some more (and maybe go to a protest) and smoke more dope and bitch and protest and so on and so on. (Hey, it's a good life if you can live it and don't mind being a dirty hippy I guess.) Problem is, it's all talk. They don't do anything. They don't add anything of value to society. They don't do invaluable work or make useful products or come up with brilliant practically usuable ideas (and making bead jewelry or selling used books out of a van doesn't count as invaluable work). Basically hippies are a huge drain on society. They don't do anything and spend all their time wasting their time or protesting against anyone who is actually out there doing something (i.e. working, making a living, using resources *gasp*). But the funny part is they think they are the saviours of everything. Basically Dennis. I couldn't agree with you more. But there's really no point being mad about it. I just chuckle and get on with my life. Somewhere down the road I'll be somewhere and all the hippies I've met will still be hippies and we'll both be happy about it.

It's just two guys. They have been "banned" in principal but in reality it appears they can keep posting so all they do is post gay porn and offensive shit. They are losers and they don't care and they find it all very amusing. Sad but true.

I think it's awesome. Style? Mmmm... perhaps a touch full onish places (not in a bad way I think), melodic, very crisp sounding, and upbeat. It has a very similar style to the tracks he has released on compilations.

Hey Lance, you live in Vancouver?

I reccomend: VA - Emergence (Nano) VA - The Mystery of the Thirteen Crystal Skulls (Tip World) I think most would agree these are two dam fine compilations and should be readily available at the regular online psytrance shops.

He's not the real moderator (incase that wasn't obvious). I'll tell you what else is obvious: the kind of music you describe is indeed about as commercial as electronic music gets, which is not as much as maybe Britney Spears, but still pretty dam commercial. Put it this way, I wouldn't be surprised to find a Paul Oakenfold cd at a Walmart. -

Yup. Always had good service with Saikosounds.

P.S. Imagine if the originals of all those songs were released today as an album for the first time? Would that be an album or what?

Cover looks good. I agree that the B.L.T, Space Cat and Deedrah tracks are something I'd like to hear. Any John Flemming I've heard before tends to be just club trance or rather bland. As for the rest? Like I said on Isratrance, I just hope they are (or have been) inspired by the Astral sound and don't just make full on songs with a few chopped samples of some great old Astral song thrown over top. We'll see. Could be really good though. Let's hope. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey Mike D, you have all the really old stuff like Trust in Trance 1 and all that sort of stuff too? I really like Trust in Trance 2. It's not talked about much but has some good oldies. Especially when you consider when it was made.

It comes with the territory I guess. When you actually buy your cd's you always buy some duds. It has always been that way for me, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating when it happens. You just have to take a chance sometimes, even when the samples don't sound that great, and there are times when you find those jewels without expecting it. I love that. Other times... well let's just say thank god for ebay.

Come on Towelie. Admit it. You are a closet Astral fan and you CAN'T WAIT FOR IT!!!

Re: Saiko "add to wishlist == add to cart" That's basically how it works. No big deal. You login, add to wishlist what you want, say place order, and that's it. The whole thing with the wishlist is that I think they will order it in for you, or they will order some if enough people have something on their list. Once they sent out an email saying to only keep things on the list that you actually wanted to buy right away because they use it to make orders. Anyways, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the suggestions.

saikosounds.com is good

I just got the new Polaris and my first impression is not good. It all sounds the same! He used the same god dam sounds in every fucking track! They are all remixes of one song. I swear. The first three tracks are decent then it all just blends into one long bland indentical song. I don't get it. I have really liked Polaris songs on compilations but this? This better grow on me or I'm going to use it as a beer coaster.

They will be in Vancouver later this summer, and guess who'll be there? >>>me<<< Anyways, enjoy the show! If I weren't in school I'd consider driving to Alberta.
