  1. hi

you should consider the Saffire LE soundcard from Focusrite. I'm going to buy this one. I've read good stuff about it and it's not as expensive as the M-audio and Emu ones. What I've read too, is that M-audio doesn't always deliver high quality products. I myself have no experience with M-audio products whatsoever.

If it comes to monitors, you should check out these ones:

    Samson Rubicon ...S-series

    Tapco S-series

    KRK RP-series

    Mackie HR-series

    Alesis M1 Active MKII

These are all active monitors. Go to shop and take a cd with you. Listen to it on different monitors and buy those who you like most. Monitors are something you should buy the last, which means if you have a lot of money :) But the ones I mentioned are good for a while.

edit: that pc has monsterspecs (compared to mine :)) but you should have 2 hard disks: 1 for your projects etc and 1 for backups. But you have a DVD-writer, so it's not that necessary I suppose.

  2. I have question, there is any VST to RTAS convertor.

Do you know somebody, what is RTAS doing ?

Is it another way of work of VST, less cpu usage or so ?

Im little bit confused of this.

    hi spacer

as far as i know, vst is the format of softsynths you use in cubase, logic, fl, reason etc and rtas in pro tools.

with an vst to rtas convertor (or vst wrapper) you can run vst's in pro tools.

rtas and vst softsynths work exactly the same way. you can see it as a word-document: you can save it as .doc or as .rtf. It are different extensions but it's the same document. I've heard that rtas is "better" than vst, but i'm not sure about this.

  3. Don't forget the used side of things. Some hunting on Yahoo Auctions Japan and such can probably get you a Nord Lead or early Virus for the same price or less.

    true

I got my MWXT for €343 (without shipping costs) If you want ethereal spacy pads, this is THE synth to have :)

  4. use a spring reverb (you find them in some vintage guitar amps) combined with a tape delay and a sweeping filter (ms-20 for ex)...

I'm thinking of buying the Resonater from Frostwave but I have to save some money first. Could you tell me what a spring reverb is? I've heard about but I don't know what makes it different from "other" reverbs. Vermona seems to have one.
  5. @ reger: :)

Well, I can't proove it's illegal. I know I downloaded it from a netlabel or something like that but I can say whatever I want to say right? I understand why moni locked the topic. I'll just have to do some research :)

edit: there was a thread opened about the closure of the other thread?

  6. 2 or 3 years ago I found a link to a website where you could download some acid trance / techno / house etc. I downloaded a few tracks of an album titled Atuiliqon Alchemy. Now I regret I didn't donwload the whole album 'cause I can't find the link anymore.

2 tracks on this album are:

    Mantis - Little grey subway

    Makara - Mantra

I uploaded a track so you could ave a listen

    (wheep with me)

Is there anyone on this forum who could help me? Please?

  7. In consequence of Elysium's topic or not, I want to write another 'quit' topic.

    So, that's the deal:

I'm tired to watch all those faces, all those people, tired of the same music played everyday, tired to work for little money, tired not to find time for other things as... MUSIC.

Yes, I quit my daily job (the description above talks about hotel reception), so now it will be much much less money. Some say I'm brave, some say I'm fool, some say you did the right thing. Myself? I don't know. I wanna take a break, I don't have nothing to lose, I don't have kids to feed. I want to spend few of the forthcoming months for music. I know that the scene is fucked up and I will not have bigger income then from my daily job with my non-for-sale-with-glowstick-&-shiva-sticker music. Passion for music fed me with optimism - I can say I do belive in myself. (If all goes wrong, I go back to work and fuck this music thingy :P)

Our Sound Field album postponed because I couldn't find time and inspiration inside the daily mess. As you heard my partner Liron can't help me at the moment, but I'm happy he's into music with his alternative rock band now. As well as my taste for PsyTrance dissapeared almosut totally in this period, but now I'm recovering with some old CD's from my collection.

Ok, what's left now is to get INSPIRATION. If someone got some in spare it drop me a message ;)

Thanks for reading, wish me good luck or better send your support in form of USD to my bank account :D

P.S. Skazi you punk! Here I come to kick you with my funk!

    good luck man

I hope you can make your earnings this way. mustn't have been an easy decision...

  8. Hello!

I am an Electric Engineer and a great Goatrance (old-style) fan. I'm not into making goa (well i'm just no artist) but have collected quite some experience when it comes sound stuff, like sound quality issues and related things (mostly from designing audio equipment).

So much about myself, here is my offer:

I noticed that amateur as well as pro goa makers are ruining their music by bad mixing or mastering. Since i like goa very much i am not pleased with that. The best example for ruined tracks is the Ethereal album. Filters on the bass that that delays it so the  rhythm is destroyed (makes it nearly unlistenable) and an SNR of maybe 20dB (sounds like an old am-radio).

So I want to help all artists that make old-style stuff in audio quality issues.

If you want to know what could be made better in the tracks you created, discuss a specific property of sound or want some help in selecting studio equipment, just message me, icq or PM.

I'm happy to help everyone in making quality releases, for people preparing a cd or just amateur artists.

I'm not interested in psytrance (unless it reaches some melodic level) and definitly not new-style techno-like fullon so don't contact me if you do that kind of music.

Also i cannot give you artistic advice since i am an engineer not an artist :)
