  1. "My snobbery around Shpongle", what a good track title, isn't it?
  2. It's your point of view Cinos. I think the Shpongle use of this "Voices of Istanbul" samples are purely and simply shameful. Simon takes a whole patch of "voices..." and put them in Around the World in a Tea Daze like it, without thinking about rythms, melody, nothing, in fact... I can't stand this snoberry around this track (not around Shpongle, around this track). I can affirm here, no matter if one thinks I am pretentious, we worked much much longer those samples, and better than he did. By all means, it's the last time I say it, I think your reactions, you and delusional proves someone love one version, other another. But stop saying use of those samples in "Tea Daze" are very good, or fantastic. Or buy Voices of Istanbul, you'll understand what I am talking about, and you'll be very very disapointed.
  3. If someone doesn' t love or hate our music, no problem, everybody has the right to have its own tastes. But nobody can say that all of our tracks are similar one each other. Impossible. If there is one positive point in our music, even for those who dislike or hate Asura, is our polymorphysm, and a changing style with each track. Those who says that our tracks are always the same: 1) never listened to Asura or 2) have no ears. or 3) aren' t honest. Thanks a lot for your kind words Delusional about Lost Eden, and well, answer to Cinos, please, I think he really didn't understand what you found special in this track.
  4. Hello Psynewsers, for those who asked the original extended mix of Fahrenheit (and they were really numerous for a long time), this version is actually exclusively available on Di.Fm since yesterday. So if you want to catch the track, listen to the chillout chanel, the track is often broadcasted on the radio. Before launching our third album (don't have the date, in 2005, I'd say :-) ), this track will be available in its integrality on our site. All the best everybody, and keep the Y! Asura
  5. Thanks Stuff for your constructive words, and thanks everybody to take time to wrote your impression, feedbacks, comments... I like to discuss about music stuff, and it's very helpful for the future, be sure of that. And what is fantastic, is that everyone has his own point of view of every single track, which mean that this album let indifferent only a few, when one's listening to it. Thanks for your comment about Moby too and Raindust. I will now try to explain why this vocal samples are not a problem for us: Of course, Raindust sounds like Moby. But Moby wasn't the first to use old gospel or soul samples in his music. Of course someone likes or hates it, find it cheezy or peaceful, crappy or beautiful, it's a very polemic track in the psyambient scene, cause he has nothing to do with "psytrance" music. And we did this track partially into this aim, and we did ONE other track in the new album which is even more moby like. But well, "Moby" is not and insult for me, and I Think some of his tracks are marvellous and really emotional. That's what we are seaking first when we are doing a track, after melody: emotion. So it doesn't matter I f we don't use the very last clavia or oberheim or so, or some homemade samples completly torn, or so ... the track has to be meaningful for us while composing and when finishing, and traduct some of our emotion, in the moment, and suggest his own emotions to the listeners. This track made many people react, good Or bad, it doesn't matter! Concerning sales, well I think it's not the place to discuss about, but all I can say is that Lost Eden was many more exposed and received many more professional reviews, almost every at least good, and so was more successfull than Code Eternity in the same exploitation period.
  6. 1) We should have come to USA in 2004 but there were a big problem with our production company, so... of course, Asura will come one day in USA, and some things are changing in the band allowing the aSURA live acts; so, be patient, it comes! 2) There are more tracks with Lyrics in the new album: 8. with a vocal lead 6. Few tracks have chants but not lyrics, just spoken words. Yes, there is in the new album at least one track similar to the five mentioned below. 3) If you'd have to choose between your daughter and your son, who would you choose? It's exactly the same thing for Code Eeternity and Lost Eden. 4) I have interest, but don't have the time. If I and we could do one album by style, we surely would do it. But it's impossible, there's only 24 hours in a daY. All is possible in the future, but we don't want to redo what we've already done. I f we do some radiophonic tracks, it's not only for sell them easier. We love the tracks we'll propose to you soon. But, well, of course, we won't never live with our music if we keep on producing album exclusively as Code Eternity or even Lost Eden. And we want to live by our music, so... 5) We change because our life change, because life changed us, because it's the only way for us to go on, not remain at the same place, in the same mood, because we are hungry too . But well, I think our soul is the same till the beginning, so don't be afraid with that, Jon, you won't be disappointed.
  7. Hey Jon, I just wanted to know what you call cheezy music, and was wondering if you thought that the most poppish tracks in Lost Eden were cheezy for you. That's all! But it's always a pleasure to see such passion in your very detailed argumentation, really... Our aim with this new album was to make our music more accessible too, still keeping our soul, and I hope we succeed in it. Concerning the new age side of Asura, guess we have our own vision of Newagey music. Concerning the new age artists you mention, I like of course the Enigma work (unfortunatly, some think that they did only Sade and Mea Culpa, though there are true gems in their productions since 10 years). Nevertheless, I don't like that much Amethystium, cause I think his melodies are rather precious, his orchestration sounds a bit outdated, his use of the voices are pretty easy (but it's just my point of view, I respect totally his work, of course). There is a spacey track in our new album, more or less new agey so, without rythms, but more in the Steve roach vibes, I'd say, more athmospheric. Concerning the other tracks, it's hard to give an unique color, but I'd say there's much more vocals, especially ours, in the first half of the album. We were speaking in Lost Eden, we are singing in Redemption, that's why this part of the album could sound more poppish. Hope the listeners will like it, don't know...
  8. AmithabaBuddha, always the best words I could receive. Thanks again for your support, it makes me and us go on For those who din't listen to the second album yet, here is the link to our site, with several extracts in the Home page menu: http://www.asura-music.com The site intro track is taken from the new album, for the info.
  9. Hi Jon! Can't give you an outting date for the moment. Let's end the mastering... and we'll see. Concerning its shape, well, I said it sounds by some ways more poppish, I didn't say the album is poppish. And even though, the Asura soul is still in it. We didn't want and don't want anymore to do a Code Eternity 2 or an exclusively Trance Ambient or PsyAmbient album. I hope too you'll find it good, but I can't assure you you'll be satisfied! Just a question Jon: do you think that Lost Eden and Raindust are cheesy?
  10. Simon was member of Infinity PrOject too? Didn't know that. I'm happy to discover it, Infinity Project is for me one of the best ambient projects.
  11. And Day turned to night is a fantastic opus, my favorite by far...
  12. Thanks you very much Dj Nemo (I love your tattoos Yes, we have other projects (Electro Club), totally apart Psy Music, Tonton Flangers (several tracks on various compilations), with the other Asura members, and Electrocaine, composed by the TechHouse artist Lestesie, (go to psyshop and stream the maxi The ritual) and me, which sounds more like Benny Benassi, I'd say. We are to licensing it, so I can say more for the moment. We too did, as Asura, an eurotrance track called "totem" which was licensed by neurodisc on the compilation "Perfect Trance 2.0" in 2003
  13. No problem MOAI, you didn't offend me! It's just that sometimes, I think that Shpongle is a bit overrated by certain aspects, that's all. And the case of Tea Daze is most significant example. But If you love this track, sorry to have been harsh, I respect totally your taste.
  14. Sorry Moai but you can't say rubbishes with impunity. I can't stand this snobbery around Shpongle, it's really boring... And I know about what I am talking: the turkish (an not arabic) vocals used in "around the world in a tea daze" has been put like this in the track, copied and pasted, taken one after the other, in Voices of Istanbul, without effort to fit with the rythms, without notable sonorous work. I am sorry to break the legend, but the use of these samples in this track, when you know this samples CD, is simply and definitly shameful. Asura built Lost Eden around these voices and spanish laments, and to be honest, we hadn't listened to Tales of the inexpressible yet when the album Lost Eden was launched. We took every interesting (for us) parcel of sample, every phrase (and not whole sample) and created an order so that it'd be our track center theme, so that it'd create an autonomous melody according to a spanish crying women, and so that, without shocking the ear, it could fit the rhythm, orchestration and soul of the track exactly. You can say you dislike or hate our work, no problem, but don't speak about the work of a track you do not even know the title (re listen to it before), and don't say Shpongle worked a lot to put those samples in this track in the future. It's absolutly false. Buy Voices of Istanbul and you will see I am right. There is a single voices bank in this samples cd (other samples are rhythms), and Shpongle absolutly plundered it. I am not against uses of Sample Cds, and particularly this one, of course, we are using them a lot. Moreover, I have to say that I respect Shpongle, even if I prefer Celtic Cross from Simon. But the fantastic (hoooooooo) and awesome (haaaaaaaaaaa) use of Sample by Shpongle is really a trickery (he??????) concerning this track. It's for a long time I wanted to say that, well, cool, It's done, I feel really lighter
  15. The turkish samples in Around the World in a tea daze, DO are taken from Voices of Istanbul. We have it and used it in several tracks, which most famous is Lost Eden. Many other tracks of "Tales" uses samples from various samples cd.
  16. Excellent. The Asura Weeping Crew, what an album title, isn't it?
  17. Hi Sherlock. I realized that "Tales of the Inexpressible" wasn't as high as everybody thought when we got the cd Voices of Istanbul. The track "around the world in a tea daze", vocally speaking, is a shame. They took a vocal bank of this sample cd and put it like this in the track without the single effort of construction, without thinking about the rythms, the link with the melody. I don't like the way Simon uses some of his samples, but well, it's just me. Nevertheless, I don't think they are over-rated, they just don't talk to my heart (except the track And the day turned to night, fantastic to my ears). They are to many people who like them: it can't be by chance... By the contrary, a band I feel totally overatted is Entheogenic. I don't understand this craze around them. I think the first album has no emotion, no energy, sounds very flat, mechanical, without soul, very snob in fact. I didn't listen to the second, maybe would I be surprised?
  18. You are right Bahamut, and I forgot too to mention Aphex Twin ambient Project and Total Eclipse for Violent Relaxation, Michael Stearns, even Astral Projection for their ambient tracks (ambient galaxy by example)... Well too many people!
  19. I am afraid I don't understand what you mean senpsy
  20. No problem Banjankri, I saw no offense! This system of poll is very cool, but one can't add another choice or artist, after creating, it's a pity.
  21. Banjankri, make your own poll next time, you will see how it's hard to put or remember everything in a single list Moreover knowing that I don't know all the artists from all over the world and that I am not a psy historian! You have the choice between 36 artists (the poll with the biggest choice), and though you are not happy? But well, the big Oblivion is OTT, Ok... you can whip me, everybody
  22. Thanks Strumpling for your nice words, We will check out your recommendations for sure...
  23. The subject is: "What is your favorite chill/ambient artists?", and not "your favorite psyambient artists".
  24. Thanks a lot for those warm words, AmithabaBuddha, hope you won't be disappointed!
