  1. F*CK! nobody's listening to this thread anymore -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  2. I don't have a problem with a remix if it's drastically different from the original. Gama Goblins 2 could be considered a remix of gama goblins, but it kicks ass!
  3. Ouroboros you mentioned the "slicer" This may be what he uses, but he doesn't use it like everybody else. As usual, he puts a lot more time an attention into it (probably does it fast by now though), making the "slices" fit in with other goings on in the music. He uses the "negative space" that's created with the slicer to make a pattern of its own. it's not just ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo It's oooooooooooooo-o-o-ooo-o-o-ooo-o-oo-o-o-ooo-o-o-ooo-o-oo-o-o-ooo lol i can't explain it. i give up. he just "does it" for me way better than infected mushroom... xdream. asura..... logic bomb... whoever It's like I said, he's a fuckin show-off! -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  4. I still smoke, although the price of cigarettes will soon drive me away from the habbit. I smoke Marlboro Light 100s, smoked Reds for 4 years -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  5. For those of you who's heard/felt that noise/thingy during the "moment" I just realized... Isn't this the same noise/thing that goes on when one yawns? I believe so. I think I've gotten it during (er more like right at the end of) sex as well, and I've gotten it right after taking a piss (doesn't everybody else kinda "shiver" after a good piss? Well pay attention and that noise might be there). This would indicate it's a feeling of relief that causes the "moment" to occur. Relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaxxx -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  6. yeah when i listen to Simon's music it's like he going "take THIS! take THAT! check THIS out! listen to THIS @!#$! oh yeah?! try and do THIS!" it's kick-ass! I've also noticed he kind of uses pieces of music (not just notes) as instruments, harmonizing entire "clusters" of music together in different ways. And there's that effect everybody's into now where you take a voice or a long soooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnddddd and cut it up make it go sooo-o-oo-o-oo-oooo--o-o-oo-ooo-o-o-oouu-uuu-u--u-u-uuu-uu--uuu-n-nn-n-nnn-d-d-dd. He's mastered that as well. He'll have the same sample playing in 3 different keys, and he'll bust that effect on each one of them differently, fitting it together perfectly. Fuckin show-off! -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  7. OK people. Experiment time. Get out your bongs, pot-smokers. Snap a few bowls, sit back for about a half hour, and then Pop in your favorite CD and take another bong hit ;-) (call me an enabler) OK, your favorite part of the CD is comming up, building, building, wonderful! YES! Now quick! act like you're having an orgasm (LOL i'm serious!). tighten your grion as hard as you can, don't inhale OR exhale and if you've done it right you'll get the shivers and this odd "whoosh" type of thing in your head. Works for me...... Either I am a mutant, or it should work for you as well -=- Matt/Strumpling -=- Think "bliss"
  8. Maybe we should all email Simon and start telling him he sucks ass so he'll try even HARDER! NOBODY buy his next album, lol, just download it (i've bought all his other CDs), and start FLAMING him. "SIMON, YOU SUCK! INFECTED MUSHROOM AND ASURA HAVE YOU BEAT BY MILES!!!!" and stuff like that Let's see if we can squeeze even more talent out of the guy, LOL! -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  9. It just hit me, I don't know why I didn't notice this earlier. Yeah, I'm totally biased from the DRUGS! it's the DRUGS! Those Shpongle CDs have been playing during the best trips of my life...... Hallucinogen was playing during the most time-wasting trip of my life (i was sitting there freaking out most of the time, stupid me!). All the other music I've listened do haven't been on such dramatic trips. But god damn, even without the drugs...... @!#$! It's the combination of so many different things I notice he does with his music that build each and ever track into something incredible. I don't think I get that from any other artist. X-Dream - Radio, Juno Reactor - Shango, all my other favorites (which i love dearly, don't get me wrong!) were great..... but just don't "get me off" like Shpongle/Hallucinogen Somebody had mentioned that Shpongle was like comparing Apples to Oranges?! HOWSO! Music = Music. Shpongle DOES indeed compare with psytrance, just as hip-hop can indeed compare with classical.... Music is music. It's all made out of a bunch of sounds. And whichever music is made of the most cool sounds arranged in the best orders will create the coolest music. Simon creates, in my opinion, the coolest music. -=- Matt/Strumpling -=- but i'm probably still just obsessing
  10. more on that "moment" I've noticed that with albums I really really enjoy, and know well, that feeling comes right BEFORE my favorite parts, in anticipation. It's really fascinating some of the things our brains do for us -=- Matt/Strumpling -=- KICK-ASS topic, by the way, Oroboros
  11. It's not to say I can't listen to other music now. It just seems like he's SO far above these other artists it's absurd! It's like smoking a bong hit of some bullshit weed and then trying some chronic. The shitweed just doesn't do it for ya any longer...
  12. God dammit! He's spoiled it for me! His 4 biggies (Twisted, Deranger, Shpongled?, Inexpressible) have totally ruined almost all other music for me! Anbody else suffering from STG Syndrome? (Simon's Too Good) And i STILL notice new stuff occasionally with those albums. It's funny how it might seem like there's almost silence in some of those Shpongle tracks, but if you turn it up there's a whole world of noise going on. He's just too good.... he's spoiled me. Anybody agree, or am i just obsessing? -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  13. That's it! I believe that is the sound/feeling/whatever I was talking about, Ouroboros. As far as the pitch you're talking about, It seems to change pitch because it changes intensity, it starts soft, gets a lot ?stronger? and then fades back out, but I think it's somewhat the same pitch the whole time. It almost sounds like something's shifting in my head, but that's prolly not what's going on. Maybe it's a really really fast vibration of your head? Kuz i kinda get the shivers at the same time as that noise. Maybe i'll try to research this and post back here... Anybody else hear/feel that? If so, try to put it into other words. I believe everybody experiences this, it's just hard to explain. Communication! -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  14. I can now pull that "moment" out without music. It's all about what's going on in your head. I can re-create the music in my head anywhere; sitting at work, sitting at school, laying in bed..... You can re-create the coolest parts of your favorite tracks in your head, and even re-mix them....... mix them with OTHER cool tracks, and so on. Oh I also wanted to bring something else up: During that "moment", if it's a good, strong "moment," I actually HEAR this sound in my head, kind of a "whoosh" type of sound (very shakey, very neat). Anybody else get that, or am I just completely flipped-out? -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  15. Mike.... you're trippin out there buddy.. relaaaaaxxxxxxxxxxxx -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  16. I'm not quite sure which track it was, but there's a track on the Haltya CD that's kind of just an intro to the next track. It's full of strange electronic sounds (kinda sounds like printers, fax machines, tape drives....) which end up forming into this cool groove. I wish more artists had to balls to break out of the mold and try that kinda sh*t more often. -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  17. I don't wear socks, I like to stink up the floor. Kidding, I go with these grey cotton socks I've got. I guess they could be considered my "dancing socks" -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  18. YYYYYYYESS!!! I've got LOADS of new music to try and find. Would you consider somebody a bit too obsessed with music if they carry around a list of albums they're still looking for and stop at every new shop they see? hey at least i'm holding up a full-time job AND going to school in between listening to cool CDs POKE, thanks, man! I'll definitely see if i can track that one down! Keep 'em comming, people! Let's see what else you've got in the closet! -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  19. Isn't it nice that the guys here are Psynews probably actually have to PAY MONEY to keep these forums up?! LONG LIVE PSYNEWS! -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
  20. more like ACID in wonderland..... ;-) -=- Matt/Strumpling -=- Oh yeah she eats shrooms in that story as well!
  21. I'll check out those artists. You may not be suprised to hear I've never heard of any of those LoL I like that last comment. I've always tried notice and absorb the negatives, but also to look at and focus on the positives of everything. It's like I tell my friends "there's good scenes in EVERY MOVIE, no matter how crappy the movie is." It's all about connecting with the "vibe" of the creator of whichever art you're experiencing. Anybody else got some trance/something else they're listening to but nobody else ever mentions? I'm sure almost everybody here has a few artists near the top of their lists that they never hear about from anybody else. -=- Matt/Strumpling -=- Keep 'em commin, people!
  22. There are a couple artists out there that I really enjoy, but I never see anything about anywhere. As I'd mentioned in a post a while back, this guy who called himself "Random" made some really kick-ass psytrance (never got picked up by a label though ) His album was called "Psychoactive, " is floating around for free out there somewhere (he didn't get picked up so he just freely circulates his stuff) and is still one of my favorites. Then there's the album "Trance Elegant" by Perplex. I don't think Perplex released anything else, but I'm not sure because I never see him/them mentioned anywhere, and can't find info on them/him/(her?) In an earlier post I had also mentioned "Loop Guru, " which isn't really trance but it is quite psychedelic. They've released a bunch of albums so they have to have quite an audiance out there somewhere....... I haven't head anybody talk about them though (maybe that's kuz i'm hanging out in the trance forums ;-) ) Let's seeee...... I think that's pretty much it for artists I really really like but nobody else seems to What's in your closet? What are you listening to that nobody ever talks about, and nobody even seems to care about?! -=- Matt/Strumpling -=-
