  1. i'm an etnica fan from the begining and i prefer Chrome. it's more psychoïd, it has more madness. yet i likes very much small doses on nitrox. actually i'm dreaming of seeing them returning to their old full on sounds....

to tbe : tibo tu te poses pas mal de questions philosophiques qd même...

  2. i saw Psychaos in october : he was amazing. the dancefloor was driven mad at 7AM by this devil guy. Probably the best live act i saw in 2001.

i'm even planning to come to that party in london.

  3. this is not a problem of space or quality, this is a problem of rights...

you know, when something has chances to be released you can't offer free download at acceptable quality, you just give enough for people to have an opinion...

well i'd like to see you in Children's shoes. he's really got a lot to cope with, he has to satisfy everyone and he does that for free.

  4. if this discussion is about the kbps asked for the 2nd contest, here's my answer:

  5. with registration

    - if we let people enter their login/pass for every review they wanna add, there will be far less reviews

    - if we add some cookies to auto-login users, we are facing the same problem as before.

registration is a good thing, yes. but it is useless for such a frequented section as reviews.

  6. i'd like to have that dieznyik, but a computer isnt intelligent enough to decide

well anyway, whatever the choice is, there will be too many crap reviews, so we'll have to find some guy (i know who) who will check new reviews every day. i'm really sorry but we have to.

    the problem isnt there.

currently, the first review is always acceptable because there is a guy who writes it on purpose, and copies the tracklisting and everything, and sends it to children. this is some work. then there are reviews added by our visitors. so even if one guy reads the very first review, this is useful to him.

if we choose -not- to include a first review with a release, the average quality of the reviews will not change, but there are big chances the average quality of the first review will drop dramatically !!

so here is our dilemma. but by moderation i don't mean removing every non-detailed review. i think there are 3/4 types of reviews :

    - detailed ones

    - informational ones (eg : there is a better remix of this track on that release")

    - short ones (yeah this album/compil/ep is good/bad )

    - crap ones

we only want to delete the last category but we'd also like to see a detailed review in the first place. and that only relies on you.

the poll gave 52% to the 'without first review' solution...this is too average to take a decision, i emailed children to know what he wants to do.

  7. hello

did you really receive an email when someone posted an answer ?

on my side, the problem was that i had many emails from my server reporting he couldn't email to .

i thought it was like that for every people checking that box, but in fact it may have been only for those giving a bad email....

    tell me

  8. i asked Children to post that poll because i'm still on this pharaonic psynews v2 website project and there are several things i must be sure of before programming them. just think the search engine only is above 15KBs of php code (without html) and you'll understand i don't wanna do useless coding.

by "don't forget to think about the pros & cons before answering", Children meant "ok, right now we only post a release when we have one significant review from it, but if we change it and only post tracklistings, we'll be more up-to-date, but also more demanding on the first review (and probably the next ones too), thus your review may be erased if it is crap" (right now there are >300 KBs of crap reviews on this site...).

in case we would adopt the post'n'moderate method, it would take some time to implement, and we wouldn't do that for pleasure (it's more work to check reviews), but for quality concerns : everyone must understand that posting a review is not a way for one to satisfy him(her)self on the fact that he (she) has bought one cd he(she) thinks good. On the contrary, it is *definitely* a way for one anonymous person to choose the next cd to buy at his (her) favourite psychoshop, having regard to his(her) tastes.

i guess 99% of you, readers of this forum are intelligent enough to make decent reviews, but i wanted to set things clear.

ps: my DNS entry was shut down once again today for administrative purposes, then my ADSL IP address changed, and eventually i accidentally changed this forums pages to chmod 700 * (anyone can't read the files).....so now you understand the forums were either unreachable, or not readable last evening (cet) and that's why i'm still up at 2:55am !

  9. I've been listening to Brothom States tunes since the time he was called Dune

on the démoscene and his style quite evolved during the years. If you are

likely to listen to the quiet electro-ambient style of this small guy, he also

released an album on Warp in 2001 called 'Claro' (very good), an EP also on

Warp called 'Qtio' and an EP on Exogenic called 'Brothom States EP'.

  10. Nitrox, Macao Café, Chrome, and already another album planned ? so now they're gonna release an album every 3 months :))

hmm personnally i dont like the begining of Chrome but the second part becomes really psychoïd...let's say it is extreme minimal psychedelism.

  11. V/A - Fast Forward

    Posted Image

    Artist: Various

    Title: Fast Forward

    Label: Neurobiotic

    Date: 2002

    Track listing:

    01. 07'38" Etnica : The 5 Tones

    02. 08'40" Triplex : Superpipelined

    03. 08'11" Stuntman : Bionoid Theme

    04. 08'29" D-Tector : Ppg

    05. 07'49" Molecular : Feel The Heat

    06. 08'31" Exanimo : Fear And Loathing

    07. 07'44" Altom : Equation

    08. 07'25" Stralia : Satellite

    09. 10'41" Vibra : Civilizations

    Review:

This is the 3rd compil from the Italian label Neurobiotic.

The first track, by Etnica uses the same instruments as in Andromeda (big

bassline, rave sounds) but it's far slower. It makes no compromise but it's

various, like in Hologram. I think it's a good relaxing piece of music and

    sampling. Simply pleasant.

The Triplex track is really minimal and monotonous at the begining. Then the

sounds are almost cracking, it's creepy all along. For minimal specialists.

The Stuntman track is really fast and uses lots of hihats. This is a hardtechno

track. It should work on a motivated dancefloor.

The D-Tector track is rolling and uses some wobbling sounds that run across

your brain. the tracks evolves nicely but when you think there's going to be a

break, it restarts like before. It's ok but get boring after a few listenings.

The Molecular track kicks hard and uses a huge bassline. It's really energetic

and evolves into a phase where there is some music. There are two distinct

    parts in this song. Great.

The Examino track attacks your brain quickly with all the constituents of

minimal music. The rhythmic was worked on in a good way here. But at 3:40

there is a technodancehousy melody, immediately followed by some music that

was changed into soemthing more psychedelic. Personnally i don't like the

tracks that use this kind of instruments but it saves it from being too

monotonous; moreover this could be ok on some happy dancefloors.

The Altom track is the reason why i wrote this review. This is purely awesome :

well done, fast, of the nightfullon kind that drives dancefloors crazy. At the

begining it sounds like Absolum, but at 2:00 it becomes agressive (aaââh), so

you jump inthe air...and at 3:30, the combination of the bassline and the new

dark sounds all around make it fantastic. (This break is built like

Spirallianz' OneWayLtd, for example). Before some ghosts catch you, the tracks

becomes less creepy, keeps its bassline and restarts like in the begining,

still agressive. The dark melody comes again later in the background while

    you're dancin' like a freak !!!

The Stralia track *does* sound like an Absolum track. Fast, loaded rhythmic, an

avalanche of nordleaded samples, more or less clear and acid...and without a

surprise it climbs into a madness of all this at the end...

Finally, the Vibra track was also inspired by 3DV labs (what a coincidence).

hmmm my opinion is exactly the same as in the previous track!

Overall a good compilation that will make you feared by your neighbors, and

that will please people that like nightly stomping music in general. Too bad

the last 2 tracks don't sound that fresh. I think it is less good than 9 Pills

(2nd NEurobiotics compil) but it's worth having, at least for the Altom bomb!

    7/10.

  12. currently i'm getting very late on the version 2 of the site (same layout, improved functionnalities, and much more, you can't imagine).

today the code is ~500KB and it is still some kind of early unworking alpha version...but it is fast !

it should have been completed in october, then december, then january, and now....later because my new job doesnt let me enough time.

then we'll implement (maybe) a different layout.
