  1. but the Echo hasn't got digital ins or outs. that's a minus in my book. yet actually i've now refocused myself onto this little gadget: the HeadRoom BitHead: it's actually a headhphone amp but also works as an external soundcard connecting to the usb.
  2. goody! again i will advertise Miranda a bit since i like it and it's freeware and it doesn't crash too often! hehe... and it's a multiprotocol messenger program supporting all the best-known systems like ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber, IRC... it's the only program i use for these. getting used to know its functions could take some time -at least it did for me- but currently i'm a happy user!
  3. okay thanks to you too! those were nice ones as well. read some reviews but still i'm leaning towards the transit! it's small, and simple. digital ins and outs and can forward the AC3 to a multichannel amp which probably is something i will some time have. a "real" volume control would be nice though.
  4. all that info (if it works) should be in the first post. insejn should edit his post so that everything in detail is stated there. also the xs4all link for the web interface. insejn! you have a mission!
  5. okay, thanks! that sure looks interesting but still i guess the transit will be my choice. for one - it's probably cheaper, two - it's more compact, three - i won't be making any music (in the near future at least), four - it uses usb (i don't like special cables and connections). a few days ago thomann.de was selling it for 77e. that's quite a moderate price already, i think.
  6. you should try some of these... Brunberg Oy, Porvoo, Finland

  8. does that work in mirc? i must type: /join #psynews.org
  9. well if Portishead gets recommended then i'll have to recommend Massive Attack because i find they have more dreamy positivity in their songs where portishead have more dreamy melancholy. but i'm really only referring to the albums Dummy and Protection since i haven't heard much more from them.
  10. there, where the big reverb (at around 01:58) kicked in this track made me smile! for me too the beginning is sounding a bit too "cheap". and throughout there's some inconsistency for my ear. the sounds are clear and distinct. even too much maybe? it sounds a bit too plastic for my liking. maybe add something to the background? and the ending is abrupt! i like more delicate and intensive build-ups and the feeling of "floating". hmm...i'm really no professional so my explanations probably sound strange. i'd like to go on further but i'm having difficulties finding the appropriate words... hope this wasn't too negative to hear! in that case browse back to he first line! and hey, your other tracks are good. had them playing there in tha background and it was okay until i started wondering what's this sounding and feeling so good...? it's your Noon Lake. really nice.
  11. yeah! i'd like to hear too! i've no idea...
  12. hey, there were several topics about soundcards here but i didn't read them all through because the topic was only "soundcard" and a pci-card is out of question with a laptop so i got lazy and decided to place a new question. do you know any good and cheap / moderately priced external soundcards that would fit my current laptop, which is running Win XP and is a 366MHz PII ThinkPad with 288MB, or the coming one which will probably be a 650MHz P3 ThinkPad with 320MB or more. am also going to get a pc-card with usb 2.0 and FireWire. so far i've found this one which looks simple and promising but isn't that good-looking. i'd prefer a more simplistic dark or black finish... it would seem to support the AC3-thingie which to me seems i would be able to get a 5.1 sound out of the many compressed video formats if i had a multi-channel amp. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Transit-main.html
  13. @spindrift & rain thanks for the info! it is possible i got banned because i did have that folder shared. of course it's impossible to say now as i didn't copy the messages anywhere. other servers though haven't kicked me out yet but i'm still on my first day in there so... multiple sources really is something i've already managed to long for. winmx is nice but it hasn't been able to download much anything in a long time. or maybe i'm just too anxious but dc++ worked well right away!
  14. i've been downloading this evening with my newly installed dc++ and came across something annoying: on the psyside.no-ip.org server someone by the handle "aL1en" kick-banned lots of users from there. myself included because i "had not shared" my incoming folder. that was though not the case: i had indeed not selected that specific folder in my shares but the one above it meaning lots of other stuff as well. when i tried to add that specific folder in options it said it was already shared! anyone else faced this problem? so i must pick every specific folder instead of just the mother one or else risk being banned from other servers as well? that's lame.
  15. don't know of this dc++ yet but i think dc had same type of minimum limit for shared stuff and i didn't have any music files on my hdd at that time and didn't care to start copying either so i marked my dvd-rip folder (with one or two dvd's) as shared and voilĂ !
  16. goto My Controls and from there, under Personal Profile click Edit Signature. then click on the IMG button and type in the internet address where your animated image is located.
  17. have some very minor attempts at making electronic music with a computer, basically no skills in playing any instruments...am not even going to any parties! have once been in a forest party (last summer). and have hardly any connections to anyone involved with the abovementioned or the music industry either. but am very open to the possibility of laying my hands on stuff like the acoustic guitar, flutes, piano, drums...sequencers, mixers...just don't seem to have what it takes to get started right now. goatrance, along with some ambient tunes, played anyhow a significant role in my awakening from the "teenage" depression. i can't relate to the trancey sounds in the same way any more, but the taste hasn't much changed though. am more concentrated on etheric and spacey and ambient sounds these days. some ebm and dnb occasionally hits the spot too. during, and towards the end of, the depression i listened to heavy/death metal and my favorites from that period still sound good to me. although i can't take too much of it at once.
  18. pricey tickets...as usual... sorry for my ignorance, but what's juno reactor's music like?
