Simpsons is probably the most quoted tv show/movie, followed by Matrix, Star Trek, Star Wars and 2001.
-
ahhh. I think I got it
This is no random engrish, this is a nice riddle
give any letter in the alphabet a number and add them. a = 1, b = 2, etc.
s = 19
t = 20
o = 15
m = 13
p = 16
m = 13
i = 9
x = 24

Thx Lauryn!
Very nice mixing ... youre obviously better at that than me.
-
Good to see the first mix is up there I'll dl it when I have a moment...
One thing though; I don't mean to be precious about it but we'd appreciate it if anyone putting up a tracklist could give our tune its full name, as we feel it's important for listeners to know that the tune was recorded over 8 years ago.
OOOD - Freon (1998 First Time Lucky mix)
Looking forward to hearing the other mixes!
I fixed this
I would like to thank all who participated. Your tunes are awesome and I had great fun with mixing. .. why not some time again?
-
The Psy track I probably listened to most got to be Hallucinogen - Space Pussy. So I guess this one should be my #1 overall
-
Holy shit, you need to check out this one:

"Frantic Noise - The Nordland Orchestra". The biggest surprise in 2006 to me. It's really dark and melodic.
-
Now where did this come from? Dark Psy just the way I love it. Driving, full of acid, and melodic! The samples are simply breathtaking. Needless to say I ordered this right away

Aye sir
My university started so I didnt have any time to do the mix... Now I finally had the time, here is what I did:
http://www.cybernetika.de/psynews_mix_proj...cybernetika.mp3
sorry some of the transitions are a little weird. I'm not a mixing pro, but I had fun
-
Excellent work on the bass, the whole sound is indeed very grungy and fluid. The elements harmonize well together. This belongs to the best ambient I've heard recently. Very nice!
-
I meant the bassline was a bit muffled, not the kick. The kick is fine to me. The only suggestion I could give you about it: use an equalizer on the kick, and boost a small area at 2kHz. This will be the high "knock" of the kick. At the same time you might reduce the 2kHz area of other sounds. When you did this right, your kick will sound better and clearer, especially when played on a PA the right amount of high frequencies on the kick is very important. .. however, if you got a good sample already, leave it as untouched as possible
-
The style description sounded extremely interesting so I thought why not give it a try
Let's start off with the bad:
- the overall sound is very muffled. Most of the sounds seem to be lowpass filtered very low. Give the sounds more upper frequency range.
- the percussions are too weak in the mix. Give them a little compression to make them appear more crispy and upfront. They should have a higher volume.
- the droning organ type lead synth in the beginning is honestly spoken horrible. You should completely rework the synth. Maybe adding some FX later could help.
- the bassline has some nice sub frequencies but seems to be too muffled overall. I can live with that, but it makes the mix appear even muddier.
Now on to the good:
- FX placement, transitions, FX design are great.
- There is a lot of details in the track which make it interesting over a longer period of time.
- Dark atmosphere
- The acid/goa leads are fantastic. How did you do them? I would consider giving them more emphasis in the overall track.
But what I suggest you to do first is to get more upper frequencies in there, they add drive and clarity to the track.
Keep it up!

It will be a free mix, and it will be uploaded when the particular DJ has it finished.
-
Check this thread, there are some opinions on it: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=36758&hl=
-
Ok, I have 16 tracks in total for the mix. All DJs who want to have a go at mixing, send me a PM, I'll send you the link to the tracks.
-
I have 16 tracks now ... thanks for all those who submit their tracks. I'm just uploading and starting a new thread where the DJs can participate
-
Thank you Trancechick for your support and promotion. I'm really glad to have you here
Synogen, thanks. I have been practising a lot .. and before I forget, thanks for the promotional thing. Blows me away! Both thumbs up for this!
SeaWasp: I send you a PM about the collab thing, ok?
I'll be playing a (dark Psy) liveset on triplag radio on saturday 14th, will provide more details later
-
Added you two ... great tracks!
-
Using samples is per definition illegal. It's copyrighted material you are using. But as long as you are not commercially successful with it, no one will care about it.
Same goes for ripping off a melody. But if you slightly change it you can still say it's your own melody and similarity is not intended.

Thanks man!!
This is what makes me go on with making music
I am really happy when people say they like my music.
There will be a release on Psybertribe soon, hopefully
Until then, I will upload some older tracks to my website. Maybe some new ones. I am not sure which ones are going to be released so far.
Synogen, you guys have made some damn impressive work. I LOVE Soulburn. Your tracks on beatbiz sound very nice. Ever thought about making a full album?
Really appreciate your feedback buddy... thank you!
-
You coul try some older Dark Nebula stuff. In particular the tracks "Structural Failure" or "Cyber Cult" ... these are huge.
More in the full-on area, but also likeable should be Shift - Excession. Great album.
Then there is Four Carry Nuts, side project of Tim Schuldt who you should know. Great Psy (a little bit of Dark Soho influence), with a goth/industrial feeling. Some tracks are quite melodic. Recommended.
Insider tip: Fighter Project - Coma S.S. (!) ..promo track. You could find it on P2P networks.
Oh, before I forget: Vegetal - Free Thinkers are Dangerous (the track) ... a massive majestic dark uplifting tune. Awesome.
Psyfactor - Good and Evil also comes to mind.
Manibus - Escape is another album I quite enjoyed. Very cold and "icy" atmosphere, good melodies, overall quite techy.
Humm, most other good stuff has been mentioned already.
But I need to say again you must try Psykovsky - Debut. It's pure dementia and pure genius in one. One guy at the reviews section said it sounds like Pleiadians played backwards, that is very true.
Hehe, and some self promotion from me too. I think my style quite fits your description. So I think it wouldnt hurt if you check out my promo album here:
