  1. I can only agree with Tekk on this one. They might not always strictly (or even slightly) psy-trance per se but always quality. All the early stuff is fantastic (and all still available from Planet Dog records) and pretty psy. Some later stuff is all over the place, but I love it, especially Crash and Burn which is my favourite. If I'm feeling low, I just put on Mondo A Go-Go and immediately feel better :-)
  2. I know what you mean about the metallic sound, but I think that is what is good. I think FP put it pretty well above, so I'll quote him rather than rephrase it:
  3. Yup, there was a track on the Get the Lead Out compilation, I think, which was really good. Hopefully more of this sort of thing as well as the downtempo stuff.
  4. Yup, Bluetech is brilliant. The double CD hasn't been very far from my player since I got it. He also played a fantastic set at the Glade this year, and Evan is a very nice chap too. Said hello and had a quick chat with him on the Sunday, nice bloke. To anyone who likes quality downtempo and doesn't have his albums...go get em!
  5. I should point, that after digging about a bit, lots of Planet Dog stuff is still available from their website (COTB, Timeshard, Eat Static and Banco de Gaia) http://www.planetdogrecords.com/discog.html Listening to lots of old Banco stuff at the moment...really great.
  6. Nice one mate! Thought that it had been deleted ages ago....a genuine copy has now been ordered! Splendid, cheered my Monday afternoon up And indeed, Planet Dog was, pardon the pun, the mutt's nuts.
  7. Aye, it looked like a cracking night. Not been to Cabbage for a while (mate no longer lives in Leeds) put always had a brilliant time when I did. Fun bit was waiting for the elderly caribbean gents to finish their games of dominos so they could open up the chill-out. Eat Static are blinding live and completely lunatic!! Listening to Crash and Burn at the moment, by coincidence... Probably best nights out have been in Bristol, at Tribe of Frog and sundry others. Used to be a cracking acid-techno night called Carnage at the Black Swan which was always a belter. Alas I couldn't make ToF last weekend which was a right pain in the arse!
  8. Hmm....finally managed to 'obtain' this to listen to, and all I can say is what a blinkin marvellous album... I was totally unaware of this before, definitely a classic
  9. Hmm, only half way through, but had to say its excellent... as mentioned above, especially 'just a ride' Cheerymuch for making it available
  10. Quite so! Very far away.... I reckon if this had been put out by anyone else but Mr. Posford et al, then people would think it was great, rather than average. High expectations and all that... Just my 2p worth anyway. And I think its great regardless....considerably better than a lot of very hyped albums I have ended up buying this last year. But that of course could just be a matter of my personal taste. Blimey, musical taste in being subjective shocker!! [edit] and Oscar by Prometheus is definitely my favourite track at the moment...very much stuck in my head.
  11. Hmmm, at a guess about 350 or so. Probably about 200 indie/rock and about 150 electronic, although my days of buying lots of indie are behind me and most new purchases are psy/chill, so the proportion is going on up... CD buying exploded when I gained employment, but has calmed down a bit these days!
  12. Finally! I have to admit I 'acquired' this, and totally love it. Not sure how I'd catagorise it, some of it isn't that psy, but its a great record...and so I have just ordered it. In that sort of mood, added Younger Brother and some Tristan too. Hell, what are bonuses for! Still don't know what the delay was? Still problems with distribution? Glad its sorted out anyway.....any bets on when Shpongle3 will be with us?
  13. Me too! Welcome, its a good place.
  14. Hi All, Suppose I should say hello too as I am a newcomer. Been reading the olds reviews for a while, and finally thought I really should join the forum. Always used to be an indie kid, gradually got into trancey stuff in about 98, and once I found psy, haven't looked back. Don't get out dancing enough, but enjoy it when I do. One of the joys of being stuck in Cambridge (pretty place, sucks for parties and topography). Make it out in Bristol every now and again, if possible with the lovely Tribe of Frog peeps. Look forwards to talking to folk around here and chipping in when I can add to the font of human knowledge (not too often!). Nice one, Dx
