  1. Cycles of Life, skin tinglingly euphoric.
Zero Density, for its unexpected resurgence towards the end into hysterical intensity.
Unmooged, a very old hardtrance track, quick as hell.

The Rezwalker, spiralling acid lines and the classic Transwave kick.

  2. Anyone who remembers Nuclear Ramjet?

I've got their 1998 album, wouldn't quite call it pure TechTrance though, there's some minimalism in its stripped down rythmic sections that is, but also some very melodic peaks (still excellent though).

Fave track off of Age of Aquarius would be:

    Very melodic.

Is their later stuff TechTrance? Any good?

i dont listen to it very often

    but when i do

    its

    X-Dream - Thorazin (masterpiece)

Planet BEN - Schleiffer (also awesomeness)

Agreed, excellent excellent tracks. Thorazin on full volume is some full power bom shankar shit.

  3. All above, plus two of my favorites:

    Eargear (specially Pegelreiter)

    and a masterpiece:

    Platform - Hypnoplant

Edit: as you mentioned KURO in your post, I shamelessly promote a mix I made of his tracks, as KURO and CHARM, a tech-trance side project of KURO and JIN. Hope you like it, despite my lack of perfect transitions (which I don't care much):

Listening to Platform - Hypnoplant now, it's incredible! I feel like i've been looking for it since I first heard Spirallianz. Do you know anything else as heavy and techy as this?

  4. Spirallianz - Blast Food

    Stereopark

    Midi Miliz - Antistat

    Passages

    Non Standards

Children of Paradise - Urban Alien

    X-Dream - Irritant

    Igneous Sauria - Skint

    Noma - Navigator

V/A - Flying Rhino: Seventh Flight, Elevation

Snug as a bug - Imitate People

    Haldolium - Be Real

    S-Range - 2001

    Planet B.E.N - Silver

    Yumade - Danz Ego

There are more, but these are my favourites.

  5. In my opinion none of those are "Ledgends".
There are the big three: Etnica/Pleiadians, Hallucinogen and Astral Projection, and then I feel there is a second rung that consists of artists such as: Cosmosis, Transwave, X-Dream, MFG, Man With No Name, Total Eclipse, Electric Universe, Shakta, Green Nuns of the Revolution and perhaps a few others.

For the record i've always felt Space Tribe were highly overrated.

  6. I'd heard some psytrance already, some euphoric Israeli like Vibe Tribe (which I still have a soft spot for even though if I discovered them now I'd probably reel at the sound), and then a mate said I should check out the "older stuff". Karan's torrent took me to these, which I adored and still rank in my favourite tunes:

    Hallucinogen - LSD

    Boris Blenn - Jeboa-Electrogarden

Blue Planet Corporation - Overbloody Flood

  7. Haha! I've got to admit it's a definite fad but I feel a bit seperate from those who take disposable images of themselves in abandoned houses wearing beanie hats; I travel by motorcycle for a number of hours to reach certain locations for the shots and have studied dark room photography at my local college.

Anyway for those images I was really influenced by my favourite album cover at the moment:

    gas_pop2.jpeg

  8. 1. Etnica - Alien Protein

    2. Hallucinogen - Twisted

    3. Spirallianz - Blast Food

    4. Planet B.E.N - Trippy Future Garden

    5. Midi Miliz - Non Standards

    6. X-Dream - Trip to Trancesylvania

    7. X-Dream - Radio

    8. Astral Projection - Trust in Trance

    9. Pleiadians - Identified Flying Object

    10. Gangnia - It Came From the 4th Dimension

The top three are in order, the rest are vaguely in order.

  9. 12:00 - 18: 00 - The highest quality Newschool Goa (Artha, Astrancer, Artifact303, Filteria etc)
18:00 - 23:00 - Early 2000s TechTrance (Spirallianz, Midi Miliz, Snug as a Bug, Yumade etc)

23:00 - 02:00 - Forest (Derango, Atriohm, Ghreg on Earth etc)

    02:00 - 05:00 - Iboga style Progressive

    5:00 - 12:00 - Old School Goa & Acid Trance Classix

    Rinse and repeat!

  10. Chrome Nitrox Sharp really make me question if its even the same people involved programming the music. Only good track on the 3 albums is Photonic. Is there a different in chrome western edition?!?

Well two members left, so it's not really the same group.

I agree for the most part that Nitrox, Chrome and Sharp are significantly worse than their Goa albums, which are obviously masterpieces. There are a few TechTrancey tracks in these albums that I actually really like (as I adore minimal, early 2000s techtrance: Spirallianz, Snug as a Bug etc), but to hear them from "Etnica" makes it difficult to take them seriously when they're so much worse than their 90's output.

  11. May as well share!

A lot of these are recent, within the last year, but the two self portraits are from high school.

This last one is the most recent painting i've done, finished it last month, unfortunately its a poor quality image but it's by far the piece i'm most pleased with:

  12. Yeah I love forest, it's so complex and rich, without relying on a bassline for impact. It can be melodic or simply textural; I think it's one of the subgenres with more integrity these days.

But the big question is: Will Derango ever release a sequel to Tumult?

  13. Does anyone else here listen to Drone Ambient? I know that Kosmiktentacles does but haven't seen him post in a while.

A few of my favourite artists are:

    Tim Hecker

    Gas

    Robert Henke

    Stray Ghost

I find I can lose myself completely in some of these atmospheres, appreciating the sheer richness and depth. The only issue I find with the genre is that it is very easily copied, and therefore difficult to discern the derivative from the masterful, sometimes i'm not sure whether to apply myself to a release, or sometimes if i'm looking too hard in a release that is simply not worthy of the time!

Unfortunately Drone Ambient seems ot be a genre completely saturated with a huge amount of releases every month (yes, even more than fullon), so i'd appreciate anyone elses particular gems so that I can spend less time wading through the dross.
