    Artist: Various

Title: DJ Banel - Best Of My Sets Vol. 02

    Label: Iboga Records

    Format: Digital download (MP3/Wav)

    Release date: January 2011

    Release information:

To kick of 2011 in style, Iboga Records continues the new "Best Of My Sets" digital download compilation series with a diverse, high-quality collection of tunes hand-picked by DJ Banel.

DJ Banel, with more than 20 years of DJ experience, is the long time DJ-alias of Michael Abel-Larsen - one of the founders of Iboga Records, and part of projects Behind Blue Eyes and Fabel. Back in the early days of the electronic music scene in Denmark in the middle of the 90's he was part of the now legendary organizer-crew Rotundum before starting Iboga Records in 1998.

Much has happened since then, but the quest for good music is still an important part of his life - both as a producer, DJ and label-manager, and this compilation is a good example of this; Strong tunes crossing boundaries between techno, progressive house and progressive trance.

Techno and tech house heavyweights like Christian Smith, Dyno, Khainz, Phunk Investigation are joined by artists like Perfect Stranger, Lish and Yotopia, whose sound can best be described as a forward-thinking mixture of psychedelic trance, techno and progressive house.

Finally there are also hints to the psychedelic trance roots of Iboga Records with artists like Gaudium, Captain Hook (solo-project of Reshef Harari from Quantize) and the newly reborn project Fabel providing massive progressive tunes.

    Title: One You Need

    Label: Iboga Records

    Cat: IbogaDigital77

    Format: Digital download (MP3/Wav)

    Release date: January 2011

    Release information:

The legendary producer ATMOS returns to IBOGA RECORDS with a new EP including the track “One You Need” as well as a remix by his new tech-alter ego DOMINIC THOMAS.

Sweden-based Thomasz Balicki has been an integral part of the progressive scene for well over a decade, and we can safely say that many consider him a legend. With trendsetting hits like “Klein Aber Doctor” and “The Only Process” as well as classic albums like “Headcleaner” and “2nd Brigade” he has inspired thousands of musicians, DJ’s and music-listeners across the globe as well as influenced the direction of the progressive psychedelic trance scene.

On the single “One You Need” the Atmos-trademark sound is very present. From the laidback, elegant groove to the subtle, understated melodies and pads – fans of his progressive house/trance crossover sound will feel right at home.

Thomasz is also behind a more tech-inspired remix made under his new alter ego Dominic Thomas. Following his debut release as Dominic Thomas on Grant Collins and James Monros label 4DigitalAudio, this version is a more club-focused than the original, with less focus on the pads, yet still adding new melodies that give associations to his progressive roots.

    Title: In Between

    Label: Iboga Trance

    Cat: IbogaTrance1

    Format: Digital download (MP3/Wav)

    Release date: January 2011

    Release information:

2011 is a time for restructuring our label. The biggest change is the launch of our new side label IBOGA TRANCE, which will focus on the psytrance side of progressive music – a sound that is still very dear to us, since it is where the label is rooted. And what better way to launch the new label with a release by some of the best names the progressive trance scene has to offer; GAUDIUM, ACE VENTURA and CAPTAIN HOOK!

Ace Ventura and Gaudium have undoubtedly been some of the most influential names on the

progressive trance scene as a whole (and on Iboga Records in particular) in later years, but this is the first time they have collaborated on a track. “In Between” is the name, and if you are expecting a heavy progressive stomper from this Swedish/Israeli combo we definitely can say that it delivers tenfold with a smashing combination of a big, crushing bass line and fat acid-leads.

To remix the track is one of the names to look out for in 2011, Captain Hook. It is the solo project of Reshef from Quantize, and he has already delivered some highly memorable tracks and remixes, with many more on the way. His already trademark fusion of pounding progressive trance and hypnotic minimal techno elements is tailor-suited for big sound systems, and is a perfect match for Iboga Trance.

    Artist: Ticon

    Title: The Programmer

    Label: Iboga Records

    Cat: IBOGADIGITAL80

    Format: Digital download (MP3/Wav)

    Release date: 15th of February

    Release information:

Iboga Records presents another tasty teaser for the upcoming album from the Swedish duo TICON – this time accompanied by a solid remix from the new stars of UK techno, SPEKTRE.

The title of the single is “The Programmer”, and fans of Ticon’s hits from their last two albums will feel right at home with the 80’s inspired leads and catchy vocal-hooks. The rhythm is laidback, groovy, positive and unmistakably Ticon. A sure hit for both beach-sessions under the clear blue sky, as well as for the clubs.

On remix-duty is no other than Spektre – the UK duo who have had a remarkable 2010 with releases on a string of top labels – from Tiger, 1605, Tribal Vision Records and Audio Therapy to the release of their album on their own imprint Respekt Recordings.

Calling their remix of “The Programmer” stripped down and dirty would be an understatement. The deep, pulsating rhythm has their trademark-sound, while the addition of the choir-like theme from the Ticon’s original in the main breakdown results in a very memorable moment for the peak time techno floors. One word: massive!

Artist: Emok & DJ Koutarou A.

    Title: Tokyo Slickers

    Label: Iboga Records

    Cat: IBOGADIGITAL79

    Format: Digital download (MP3/Wav)

    Release date: February

    Release information:

IBOGA RECORDS co-founder DJ EMOK opens 2011 with a new collaboration with Japanese DJ KOUTAROU A., while one of Spain’s biggest house producers over the years, D-FORMATION, is on remix-duty.

DJ Emok is well known as both a terrific DJ as well as from producing under names like Phony Orphants and Maelstrom, which has brought him on several tours across the globe during the last 10 years. The track “Tokyo Slickers” started on one of DJ Emok’s many tours in Japan where the collaboration with the local DJ Koutarou.A took form. The result is a deep and hypnotic track that fuses progressive house with darker, pulsating elements from techno.

Behind the remix is one of Spain’s biggest names on the house scene, D-Formation. The Madrid-based DJ and producer have been around for many years, andhis tribal-inspired house sound has appeared on a long string of top labels – from Toolroom, Yoshitoshi and Baroque to of course BeatFreak Recordings.

His interpretation of “Tokyo Slickers” is more on the brighter side than the original – more emphasis is puton the melodic elements, and the groove is bouncy, catchy and very dance friendly. A great optimistic tune for clubbier sets.

    Release information:

The Nyquist-duo from down under returns with a new single on Iboga Records.

Aran Gallaghar (also known as FREq) and Ben Hartley are making a fusion of raw progressive trance-influences with groovier progressive house grooves, which has resulted in several memorable tunes through the years.

"Otagu" is no exception. Sweet big-room plucks blend nicely with a very optimistic groove, while Israeli Perfect Stranger crank up the intensity with a more techno-influenced interpretation, yet still maintaining the uplifting qualities from the original.

    Release information:

Iboga Records presents a new EP with an interesting collaboration between Sleek and the new, exciting name on the scene: Fresh!

Sleek is the slower, techier project of Nicola Capobianco who is well-known as Liquid Soul. With two massive full-lenght albums on Iboga Records, recent awards at Beatport Music Awards and the Ibiza DJ Awards there's no doubt that he is among the very best the progressive trance scene has to offer, and his Sleek project has already reached the playlist with many of the top DJ's.

On this EP he teams up with Fresh - a new duo from Israel consisting of Shay Elmakies (also known from the psychedelic trance project Dynamic) & Ziv Lavy, who are showing great potential to break through on the house scene in 2011.

"Bass Down" is a heavy, techy monster while the aptly titled "Morning Sunrise" has a more uplifting, carefree vibe.

    Artist: NORD

    Title: Boulevard Hotel

    Label: Iboga Records

    Cat: IBOGADIGITAL74

    Format: Digital download (MP3/Wav)

    Release date: December

    Release information:

Iboga Records presents a new EP with the Swedish duo NORD.

Behind the Knobs we find Mathias Andersson & Jonas Pettersson, who both has many years of experience producing electronic music and touring around the globe with their projects, among others, "Ibojima", "Logic Bomb" and "Tranan".

Recently the duo has decided to concentrate on their Progressive house / Techno project NORD. The result is stunning and most promising. The EP marks the second release on Iboga; the first one was the track “Around the world”.

The track "Hotel Boulevard" contains a massive & funky rawness with a seductive melodic finale, that really stays on your mind.

The NORD remix of the Duca´s "Juicy Noises" is also a great example of the quality at hand here. Very strong mix, that surely will be a deadly weapon for DJ´s.

The tracks are mastered by Robert Elster. Another great release from Iboga Records.

    Tracklist:

    01. NORD - Boulevard Hotel

    02. Duca - Juicy Noises (NORD Remix)

    Release information:

After a long wait we at Iboga Records are proud to finally present a new digital download EP by Reefer Decree!

Reefer Decree was one of the first acts to represent Iboga Records, and also one of the first acts to put the Danish progressive scene on the worldwide map. Over the years the cooperation has resulted in two full-length albums, a bunch of singles and countless memorable tunes.

Especially morning anthems like "Curved Air" and "Nightvision" have established Reefer Decree's almost legendary status in many corners of the progressive scene, but as this new EP suggests, we have many good things to expect from Reefer Decree in the future as well.

    Enjoy!

  13. 8.) DJ Hell feat. Billy Ray Martin - Je Regrette Everything (Superpitcher Remix) - Gigolo Records

9.) Carl Craig - At Les (Christian Smith Tronic Treatment) - Tronic Records

10.) Kino Oko - Lovely Serenade (Eelke Kleijn Remix) - Tribal Vision Records

    12.) Eitan Reiter - Ups & Downs (Set:10 Edit) - Iboga

13.) The Melody Maker feat. Margot - Torch (Extrawelt Remix) - Great Stuff Recordings

Haven't heard the mix yet, but these tracks are amazing. Christian Smith's remixes of "At Les" are some of the best this year (although I prefer the Hypnotica remix though).

  15. Paul Oakenfold returns with a double CD release based on his 1994 award winning, The Goa Mix. Hailed as one of the world’s leading DJ / remixers by some of the most respected media titles including CNN, BBC, Rolling Stone, BPM, Remix and more. Whether it’s producing countless film scores including music for Collateral, The Matrix Reloaded and Die Another Day or remixing for artists such as Madonna, Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson, Oakenfold is one of the most versatile and busiest forces in the music scene today. Paul’s landmark The Goa Mix was originally broadcast on Radio 1 as an Essential Mix in 1994 and was voted The Best Essential Mix Ever by Radio 1 listeners, also winning a Silver award at the Sony Radio Awards. Available for the first time as an official album release, the mix has never been legally released as a CD or download due to past music licensing issues. The Goa Mix is more than a mix album and could be described as a soundtrack or soundscape to the mid-90’s trance / psy-trance scene, a sound pioneered by dj’s such as Sven Vath. Featuring an uplifting mix of classic dance music from across genres blended seamlessly with emotional film score music from Bladerunner (Vangelis) and Dracula (Killar), The Goa Mix is a legendary piece of dance music history. The Goa Mix 2011 has been totally re-crafted and re-recorded for an album release and is spread across two discs. Stand out tracks include Goldie pres. Metalheadz – Inner City Life, Marmion – Schoneberg, Grace – Skin On Skin, Li Kwan – Point Zero, The Infinity Project – Stimuli, Man With No Name – Sugar Rush, Disco Evangelists – De Niro, Salt Tank – Eugina and Vangelis’ stunning Bladerunner Main Titles.
