  1. I've just finished a new track and thought I'd share it with the psynews community. http://soundcloud.com/cloudwalkermusic/imperfect-machines-mastered-v4 A good pair of headphones is recommended... The idea of the track was to reflect mechanical imperfection. The first part of the track is in a 13/16 time signature (its been a blast to play with). Each note in this section has been manually unquantized to give it an imperfect yet mechanical feel. The 2nd part is in 9/8, exploring darker and more distorted realms. The track finishes with a 4/4 dub finale, slightly error-proned, but with a bright outlook. Philosophically, I suppose this song reflects the error-prone nature of machines/robots... and ultimately ourselves, as we are also Imperfect Machines. As always...this is open to critique, comments, or suggestions. I hope you guys enjoy it. much love, Cloudwalker ps: I'll post a higher quality stream once my other hosting site is back online.
  2. Hello friends, A new Cloudwalker tune is finally finished. I'm really excited about this one! It's a psychill remix of one of my most cherished childhood video game themes. Been working on it since February, so it's been quite a journey. Everything in the mix is original content. No loop libraries, presets, etc. Programed all the synths from scratch using Cakewalk Rapture or the ol' Alesis Micron (and even a combination of both!) Nearly all of the percussion was played and recorded live. First time recording and working with vocals. This is also my first track using Ableton Live. (made the switch earlier this year. The list goes on... stream and listen to the FLAC version here: http://soundcloud.com/cloudwalkermusic/magma-dragoon-liquespial-lava-mix stream and listen to the MP3 version here: http://www.twistedsessions.com/cloudwalker/audio.php check out the original video game theme here: hit me up on myspace here: http://www.myspace.com/cloudwalkermusic As always, comments and critiques are welcome with open arms. Much love, Cloudwalker BTW: If any of you label-heads out there are reading this...I'm available for remixing! Hit me up via pm, or email me from the TwistedSessions link above. I'd love to get my hand on some projects and dub them up.
  3. Wow...Absolutely fantastic! Thanks for the link. Still can't get enough of this album. I think it's going to end up being one of those timeless psychedelic downtempo classics. Right up there with Are You Shpongled, Spontaneous Illumination, Hallucinogen in Dub, etc....
  4. Unbelievable Sonic Masterpiece! Awe inspiring sounds from the mastermind of downtempo electro-dub. Even the Stones Sing and Probability Tree rock my world. 9.1/10
  5. (Assuming you already have a program for composing, arranging, and mixing) If it's your first softsynth, I'd recommend trying some freeware synths just to get your feet wet. Might I recommend: Synth1 (The site is in Japanese, but the installer link is at the bottom) GreenOak Crystal SuperWave P8 Those should get you off to a good start. When it comes to purchasing "big league" softsynths... You can't go wrong with Korg Legacy Collection. It should be able to supply you with a plethora of "IDMsih" sounds. Others to look at: Native Instruments FM8, Linplug Albino, Cakewalk Rapture... Hope that helps! -Cw
