  2. Krusseldorf - From Soil to Space [ Aleph Zero, Oct. 2011 ] Media formats: CD & Digital Catalog No.: AlephZ18 Release date: 17.10.2011 Track List : 1. Geometrics 2. Boxing 3. The Cell 4. First Blood 5. From Soil To Space 6. Click 7. Deep Fulgin 8. Tokyo Nights 9. Soe Doe 10. Deep Into The Bowl 11. Choclop 12. Zyclops 13. A Head Under The Towe Review originally published on isratrance.com Written in 2011. Music for late night traveling, psychedelic winter shades, parallel universes and strange encounters. Simon Heath, aka Krusseldorf, the sound designer from Sweden, is back with a new mind-boggling release. From Soil to Space is a ghostly sound swell of very well produced, IDM-ish, misty and cleverly glitchy downtempo electronica with a strong otherworldly quality. In terms of sound aesthetics, vibe and atmosphere, From Soil to Space is an album that with its own original personality revisits and illuminates one of Aleph Zero's more familiar and most beloved sonic territories, a territory of deep and polished electronic based music that tells a detailed, epic, mysterious and slightly dark story. A territory that characterizes some of the label's earliest and most attractive releases like Kalitz, Midnight Soul Dive, Some Things Never Change, and Dark Room Beats. From Soil to Space can tell a story about whatever we want: enchanted desert moons, futuristic cities, northern lights, or maybe just about groovy and smooth space floating, the possibilities are endless. It all depends on our imagination, and if you have a healthy imagination, From Soil to Space will be a powerful tool to use in order to transfer yourselves to. . . Krusseldorf - Soe Doe Krusseldorf took his unique sound and style to the next level, and it really shows in every second of this album with stylish high quality production that intensifies the strong emotional core of the compositions. As opposed to the charming Bohemian Groove (Krusseldorf's previous album that was released on Beats & Pieces last year) things are more subtle and a bit more tricky on From Soil to Space. You can hear that a lot of work went into this creation, and as we know, those who work hard and put love in what they do, bear fruit. And this is definitely the case here, as From Soil to Space is Krusseldorf's best work to date. With this album Krusseldorf provides something special and alluring that a lot of us electronic music fans out there are always longing for. Krusseldorf - Deep Fulgin Recommendation: After swimming in the more experimental side of downtempo electronica, electro acoustic and chillout, and releasing the lovely album Hold The Sun, the guys at Aleph Zero swam back home. So all I can say is just go buy the CD, so you'll also get the elegant, fine looking artwork, put a good pair of headphones on, sit back, press play, and just feel the music yourselves and see what it does to you. Because after all, as someone once said: "Writing About Music is Like Dancing About Architecture". [ Until we meet the sky ] has a an intensely cinematic sound; from introspective, wispy and intimate ambient electronica it slowly builds up to a shoegazing spirit engulfing the listener in an ethereal dreamworld. An album of dizzying beauty composed by Solar Fields as a one track story in twelve phases from nightscapes to the sky. Deep and addictive. Discover [ Until we meet the sky ] official video: My opinion: Another masterpiece from the Swedish ambient and downtempo electronica wizard, and another must have release from one of the best record labels out there. Amazing artwork and packaging as usual. I really love the new digipaks they started to use. Cheers

  13. Sysyphe - Running Up that Hill [ Hadra Records, Apr 2010 ] Track List : 1. Hada 10:56 2. Follow the Light 6:42 3. Missing Time 8:05 4. Spellbound 7:18 5. Legend of Winter 8:00 6. Handfasting (Magic Wedding) 7:37 7. Ashes 6:35 8. Pandora 8:33 9. Sinking 8:47 10. Waves after Waves 5:20 Review originally published on isratrance.com Written in 2010. Running Up that Hill, the debut album of French musician and producer Sysyphe aka Philip Contamin, provides a mesmerizing mystical experience that revives echoes from the beautiful psychedelic ambient of the end of the 90s and early beginning of the 2000s. Philip is not reinventing the genre, but he's certainly refreshing psybient in an enticing individual way. What we have here is an enigmatic composition that unfolds slowly and vacuums the listener into another world. Philip weaves spellbinding atmospheres with his synth and guitar textures that flow so well inside a hazy tapestry of shimmering pads, fat warm basslines, weird noises and delightful, smooth deep and crisp beats. All of this is occasionally spiced with lovely oriental, Middle Eastern type percussion and mysterious chants, and gently soaked in a piquant organic raw dubby shade just in the right places. Sit back and let the magic of this wonderful night tale take over. . . Recommendation: A story telling quality and a tasteful psychedelic touch make this album quite addictive. It's a real psybient pearl with a very distinctive sound and style. What attracted me at the beginning and caused me to check this album out was the artwork that in some way really implies on the magical and mystical mood of the album. So, getting beautiful artwork on top of the good music is always a nice extra. It's really great to chill out with this album at home, but also outdoors in nature. All the tracks here are excellent. Go buy it, you won't regret it. Ott - Mir

Ott - Mir ( self release , Apr. 2011 ) Track List: 1. One Day I Wish to Have this Kind of Time 8:33 2. Adrift in Hilbert Space 8:10 3. Owl Stretching Time 7:41 4. Squirrel and Biscuits 6:02 5. A Nice Little Place 7:13 6. Mouse Eating Cheese 7:38 7. The Aubergine of the Sun 10:09 Review originally published on isratrance.com The psychedelic space dub architect from the UK is back with another mind boosting voyage that can be experienced fully and deeply when sitting comfortably on your listening couch at home, but can also work very well on the dance floor. Mir is based on the usual Ott recipe that we all love and that always provides much pleasure to the mind and soul with stunning production and strong adventurous nature, but infused with new punchy flavours. Ott once again managed to freshen things up with forward-thinking witty ideas and strange twists, while maintaining his unique signature sound and style alive and kicking, just as he managed to do before with his previous fantastic album Skylon. Mir is a lovely sonic dish packed with warm vibrating bubbling fluid basslines, lush swirling synth textures, rich energetic beatwork, and all kinds of quirky sounds and manipulations. All is occasionally seasoned with dreamy guitar streams, ethereally processed vocals, a clever glitchy touch and colorful ethnic scents. Ott - Adrift In Hilbert Space Before Skylon Ott released two albums. First it was the marvelous Hallucinogen In Dub album where he remixed some of Simon Posford's best trance work, then it was the groovy Blumenkraft, which now can definitely be called timeless, and now it is the dubby and funky mystical realms of Ott's latest creation Mir that give us more joy and good vibes. HID, Blumenkraft, Skylon and also HID Live from Brixton (which contains an electrifying live performance by Ott, Posford and friends) carry the prestigious Twisted Records brand name on them and they are very much deserve to. Besides continuing the beautiful Twisted Records tradition of releasing innovative high quality electronic music, those albums also brought a new glow of creativity to the label. This time Ott decided to release his new album by himself, going in a spirit of experimentation and curiosity as he says. For those of you who worry, don't. Releasing by himself did not cause any loss of quality or glow. Ott - A Nice Little Place Sassy, uplifting and addictive, Mir truly shines from start to finish. With some help from Naked Nick (guitar and vocals on Adrift in Hilbert Space and on The Aubergine of the Sun, and co-writing and performing on A Nice Little Place) and Chris Barker (bass and guitar on The Aubergine of the Sun), Ott created another eternal magical path that can lead its listeners to wherever their minds and souls choose to be led to. Ott's music is the kind of which really lets the imagination go wild and be free, free as a child running happy through an endless green wheat field on a summer day while little colorful smiling creatures are flying all around, leaving luminous powdery trails behind them. The album is available digitally and on CD directly from Ott's bandcamp page. The CD comes in a nice digipak with wonderful and original artwork by Daniel Philosoph from Israel. Recommendation: You can really feel the love that was put into this music. A slinky fusion of styles and influences. A must have. Available at: http://ottsonic.bandcamp.com/ http://www.psyshop.c.../ott1cd001.html Enjoy
  15. Various Artists - Dark Room Beats [ Aleph Zero , Aug. 2010 ] E-flyer http://www.aleph-zer.../flyer/DRB.html Track List : 1. Altair- Outsider Looking In 5:48 2. PhasePhour- Tetraphobia 7:08 3. Shulman- One Step Closer (Eitan Reiter & DJ Shahar remix) 10:28 13. Minilogue feat. Inid Imman- When the Roof is Low, Open your Heart and the Sky will Follow 5:00 Review originally published on isratrance.com Written in 2010. Highly atmospheric and electrifying nocturnal lush sonic dreamscapes of hauntingly beautiful downtempo electronica, ambient and idm, wrapped in a delicate psychedelic aura and gentle glitches. Another top quality, innovative and fresh release from one of the most creative and diverse record labels out there- Aleph Zero. This compilation features well known artists in the electronic music genre from all around the world, and each and every one of them provided a unique and cutting edge track that fits comfortably into a concept of late night traveling through our own imagination. Not sleepy, but groovy and trippy, urban and introspective, this compilation is dark but filled with luminous heartwarming textures and melodies. The lights are off, the curtain falls, the journey begins. . . Ovnimoon - Cajita de Sorpresas Dark Room Beats has a lot to offer, from the crispy beats and deep vibes of Altair's opening track to the soft dubby movement, hypnotic weird manipulations and stunningly processed vocals of track 5 by Omnimotion & I Awake; from the spacey lounge of Yangchin Jazz by Hibernation to the mysterious organic flavours of Alexander Daf and Robert Rich. The story (compiled by DJ Shahar and Yaniv Shulman) is constantly evolving with a strong dynamic structure, and the tracks are fading into each other in a sensitive way. One of the most attractive pieces here is Tee-child by Aligning Minds. It is a gorgeous seminal piece of sonic wonders, and I really can't wait for their full length album to be released on Aleph Zero. More sophisticated otherworldly epic sound architecture can be found on Tetraphobia by PhasePhour, Cajita de Sorpresas by Ovnimoon and of course on Shulman's One Step Closer (Eitan Reiter & DJ Shahar remix), which is one of the juiciest pieces I have heard lately. The original track is amazing, and Reiter and Shahar took it to a completely different direction and the result is absolutely brilliant. Dark by Good Rester is a short pearl but very deep and smooth, it acts like a sort of a bridge between two parts of a story. Simon Heath aka Krusseldorf, the Swedish wiz, and Vataff Project, Bulgarian magician Victor Marinov, provided the darkest tracks on this compilation. Victor's track actually touches some deeply disturbed atmospheres, it's still tranquil and beautiful, but disturbed and a bit creepy. Krusseldorf's track creates a strange atmosphere with some broken frequencies and hazy designs. Dark Room Beats ends quite calmly but maintains its mysterious nature with When the Roof is Low, Open your Heart and the Sky will Follow by Minilogue feat. Inid Imman. A very nice and mellow finish. Minilogue feat. Inid Imman - When the Roof is Low, Open your Heart and the Sky will Follow Recommendation: While Dark Room Beats is diverse and contains all kinds of colors and shades, all the tracks sit together very well and work as a unit that creates an interesting and stimulating sonic mosaic for the mind and soul. This is probably the best and most different compilation from Aleph Zero and definitely one of the bests in the genre in the last few years. As always from the Israeli label, the CD comes with special artwork that fits to the mood of the release. If you are looking for the strange and unique you should try this one out. Very recommended!
