1. The wizard you say. So we have the grandfather, the wizard... What's next?

    374163

hyping stuff is one of the last steps before downfall

right now fullon seems to boom ... and yes, it booms, but not for very long anymore ... we are already in the phase where the press announcements of the albums try to overpower other press announcements - wizard vs godfather and so on ... soon all will be gone in a big synth fart, that's what I count on...

    be patient and be rewarded.

  2. Peter Baumann and Christopher Franke are former members of Tangerine Dream. Together with Edgar Froese they made the classics like Phaedra and Rubycon in the 1970s. Apparently they also did some solo music later... I think Franke did the music for the sci-fi series Bablyon 5... I wouldn't know if their stuff is any good.

Well, I checked a little and Franke's music is too much classical for me :P

    Peter Baumann's stuff I don't know yet.

It's funny though that the two and Edgar Froese together are Tangerine Dream ... if you search Gnoosic it spits out Tangerine Dream and all three solo members seperately :D

  3. Scando Trance =

S-Range, Etnoscope (they're fukkin great though the sound is not typical scando), Koxbox/Saiko Pod, 12 Moons, Human Blue, Matenda, Vibrasphere, Atmos, Ticon, Son Kite, Noma, Chromosome ... the list is endless.

...and not to forget Carbon Based Lifeforms!!!

    I LOVE SCANDO SOUNDS

  4. Ehm ... we have October ... isn't it a bit early to make a toplist?

Because the (for me) potentially best album of 2005 is (hopefully) yet to come! It will be:

    S-RANGE - ANOTHER THEORY

BUT it depends when those freakin' people from liquid will release it at last, gnarrrgh <_<

  5. Well, I really went there today and there were two Klaus Schulze vinyls - Dune and Timewind, but for about 10 Euro each. Not as cheap as I expected, therefore I didn't take them (I don't take stuff that I don't know for that price)...

(However, I found a Shiva Chandra - Lunaspice CD in mint condition there :P )

But that list of old artists I wanna make is not only for that store, there's another reason: in December there will be a big ass record fair, one that's so big you need more than one full day to see all vinyls they sell there - at least last time there were freaking tons of them. And I was so fucking lost there last time ... I absolutely need a big list of artists to look for, because when you haven't got something like that in your head you can spend weeks there...

  6. So ... there is this vinyl store which sells used vinyl for a really cheap price, but the point is, all the cheap ones are pretty old, older than me, probably vinyl collections found in attics or basements during a house cleanout or something (they all smell of basement, lol :D ). And I have hardly any experience with artists of the 80s or late 70s or early 90s as I was a small child back then. Point is, there for sure are some gems hidden in the collection (I already found Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene special club edition for 2 freaked euros :D ) and several other Mike Oldfield and Jarre stuff. Really nice. But now my question is, aren't there any good other artists? I mean, I can't always dig for Oldfield or Jarre, one day there won't be any vinyls of them anymore, you know?

My question now is, do you know any artists that have released vinyls in the late 70s or 80s or early 90s that could be of interest to somebody that likes the modern ambient of today (I'm not saying psy as I don't think I'll find anything really psy there)? Artists like Jean Michel Jarre (perfect), Mike Oldfield (already a bit too many vocals, but still good) or something like that? New Age can count too ... but please not too classical...

    Please, I need your help.

  7. Alive in my heart? Oh, it's not just the heart, it's the head, the legs, the arms, the brain ... pretty much everything :)

The psy music energizes me ... and that's the main thing about it all. I guess if nobody in the world would listen to this music anymore from right now on, even then I wouldn't give a fuck and run with psy music on the ears. I can't go without anymore. And that's just one reason :)

Second reason are the people ... nearly all of them (unfortunately I must say NEARLY) are open minded, tolerant, nice, peaceful and everybody just wants to have a good time, nobody cares about your looks or anything, it's such a relaxed atmosphere, peaceful, nice ... this forum here proves it :)

Third reason is the awesome deko. Gosh, I have seen fluoro paintings I still get wet dreams when thinking of them - not to speak of sculptures and stuff ... LOVE it

And for the fourth reason allow me to quote myself from another thread about what I like about psy parties:

It's an ideal environment to let your thoughts fly ... into trance. You bash your enemies, thank people who helped you, live through important situations in your life in the last few weeks again and be happy that you made it through and are ready for new challenges. You let out your energies and make space for fresh ones. A mental rechargement. All in trance. All with the music.

(At least that's valid for GOOD psy parties...)

  8. The possibility to appear sloppy, unshaved, dressed as a bum and behave freely without feeling unwanted. As opposed to clubbers and their strict dress code. I can feel like home at parties. That's just wonderful.

And yea there's also good music here and there. Much more than anywhere else. Actually.

    360879

    ...so well put :D

I like to go there because of the music ... and the deko

  9. All right, i've already done this and i remember the results :

Because i've tried, it is virtually ipossible to remake Psynews in php. So J2EE over a cool AppServer would be the solution.

    I need J2SE 5.0 (means java, generics-aware) programmers, using Eclipse 3.1,

The framework used would be JSF 1.1, Hibernate 3, and lots Jakarta stuff,

The platform would be Tomcat 5.5, Apache2, Mysql 4.1

    Anyone ?

A lot of stuff has already been done but i've stopped, i'm on other things (Suntrip for example).

    mars.

    357744

I'll probably learn Java next semester, so after the next semester I'll be able to help :D

Anyway, honestly, for me the forum is absolutely enough, I don't need anything else! But that's just what I think, others seem to want more...

Certainly it wouldn't hurt. But I prefer a good forum and a good label as it is now to a new site and some of the two other things disregarded (not that I think it would be like that, it's just a thought) :)

  10. GREAT THREAD!

    *applauses*

I didn't know Tiamat made such a cool track ... checked it out and it's really good :)

The stuff I can recommend isn't much ... the only music I know that has much similarity to psy sometimes is industrial. Frontline Assembly would be a good band to check out in this direction.

When you're in a blue mood, check out one of the newer albums of Ulver - a band that evolved from black metal to depressive synth chillout :P

Darkwave music has also some similarities to psy sometimes ... Blutengel, Flesh Field, Assemblage 23, some Wolfsheim ... it just depends where you draw the border...

  11. good observation.

(with metal it's the same btw...

no black blackmetallers (at least none that I know of ... but you really get some respect from me if you are able to name a black blackmetaller!)...)

anyway ... it might be dependent on the repetitiveness and unfunkyness of the psy music indeed so that not many of the black people can connect with it spiritually. At least it sounds probable.

I for example can't connect with jazz. It's just randomn noise to me. Still I truly admire jazz musicans for being the masters of that (to me) chaos. And - oh wonder - jazz is a musical genre where black people are present very much ... it "swings", it's funky ... it's more connected to their lifestyle! I can't connect with that I confess, I am not funky but nervous/euphoric/happy/depressive, bun nothing that would connect with jazz music. And as I won't be able to connect with jazz jazz people won't be able to connect with psy. Just an example...

  12. Problem is... Minilogue @ mid-night, Skazi @ 7am, Son Kite @ 9am

I mean.. WHAT THE FLYING FUCK!!!!

    wtf were they thinking?

minilogue -> skazi -> son kite? That's just plain dumb.

I mean, even if they let perform fullon and prog artists on the same floor (which is already a bit folly if you ask me, but anyway), how dumb can somebody be to organize the party like that? Skazi in betwen? WTF?

    Idiots.

I would have said that you look at the plan and just come to the party when Son Kite and Minilogue play and then go home when skazi comes, but in this case it's senseless advice...
