Nope, still available!

Mrun and cronomi. I absolutely adore and love your musical talent, don't think otherwise.
But..
Where was colin? I'm sorry but this has been a huge problem for me ever since the release. Where was the icing on the cake? Sure the cake is tasty and all, but it lacks that top flavour that makes it spark. It's not here. No matter how amazing you are at writing music, if you are not a masterer with many, many albums under you, it just won't be as good. This mastering is not bad, but it's also flat. The dynamics of Erta Alé are gone. You traded a little bit of money for mastering that won't survive through the ages. You have it all there except.. that. The highs and lows just merge with so much of the mids. And the mids are all on the same level no matter.
I'll buy an OOOD master version for 50 euros. Digital only, even.
I'm... baffled, yet this is another common example of why people nowadays don't understand what mastering is all about. No offence, but I don't think your ears correspond with what you write. If you would know what dynamics is you wouldn't say something like that.

MWNN = 909 =)
-
That sounds like a simple saw wave actually, could be Roland gear indeed
-
Where's all the old TR909's etc? Mostly everybody is using 'full-on' basslines and sharp kicks...
That's what I thought when I saw his studio pics, absent 909, 727, 303, ... =) But if I got some money left I'm still going to buy that Martin Cooper album, some things sound really good, more 'grown up' than the Asia album imho.
-
I like the tracks under his Martin Cooper alias better, are both albums made recently?
-
Great tracklist indeed! But I hope this will have a better mastering than the first release? That one's also very good regarding tracklist, but it's sooo compressed sadly enough.
-
Doesn't really mean much to me really , the Korg MS-2000 is a GREAT SYNTH , along with the Waldorf Q's , Yamaha AN1x , Novation Supernova, Korg R3 , Roland JP-8000...
My guess is that this new Korg MS-20 Mini could be a VA aswel , but doesn't really matter to me as long as it's a synth and it can be totally shapeable and bendable.
No of course not, it's all analog! =) That's the whole point of the mini version.
-
Interesting interview, but I wonder why he threw away his analog stuff! I can't imagine Asia 2001 without a 909 and a 303 ^^
-
Track 14 is Baas Complex - Gyro.
Track 3 Zodiac Youth - Atoms (Angel Fish remix).
-
They just announced the "KingKorg" as well.
That's a VA.
-
It should be true to the original. The whole idea is that it's exactly the same circuit other than the addition of MIDI and USB.
The filters (which I think is one of the most important parts of a synth's character) aren't really screaming like an original. I'm not really convinced by this video but it doesn't sound bad though. I'll have to try it first, if so I'll probably recommend it to somebody who wants to go analogue. In theory it has no negative sides
-
Would be nice if the sound will be true to the original. I got one and the filters are just fucking ear-ripping awesome. It's great that Korg is going analogue again. No presets! I hope they will come up with a new and original synths though, I think the "vintage-remake" market is getting a bit saturated.
-
You got more stuff like this?
-
Puro - Derango Tango
-
Glad you like it =)
-
Uhu, time to change that
-
A tip: drumcomputers, maybe multiple drumcomputers. Or for example, download some sample packs of the classics (TR-808, TR-707) if you like the sampling way better than sequencing.
Also, I think your balance isn't that good: the kick and bass are way too prominent. Melodies and mood are good, could use more variation though.

If you're buying an iPad instead of analog instruments for making goa trance, you're going to have a baaaad time.
-
I've tried lot of coombinations with equalizer listening to E-Mantra Arcana, but I failed, it sounds like overcompressed, loud, sound mess. I have NAD 356 ampl. & Canton ergo 695 speakers, all other music sounds great on this equipment
That's another example of the loudness war... the whole newschool goa scene is infected.. ^^

Hi all.
I'm frustrated. Found no way to solve this problem this far...
I find these 2 tracks I made so special that it would be a crying shame if people can't hear them. I'm also playing own music in a party soon. So if anybody's out there being a sound/FL geek, I'll send you the flp files plus all plugins and sound samples I used in these tracks. If you can render them to me in 24bit wav it's straight 50 euros in your pocket.
Please somebody
bom!
I could try it, but I don't need your money of course. But first, did you try to render the patterns themselves, and replacing the plugin patterns with them? Rendering audio files takes less processing time than rendering plugins.
-
Great, I'll be on the lookout!
-
Yes, but can you trust them? I expect the results at HeadRoom are more reliable than those you'll find on a manufacturer's site.
I'm sorry I thought you said frequency range. But yeah I guess so because they seem to copy/paste the specs. Not the graphs, of course. But I don't think any "passive" listener here would be any wiser because because of that, in my opinion it's not even that necessary.
-
How to do what? Do you mean how to determine the frequency response of your headphones or speakers? You can get specialist mics for that, but I expect they cost a bomb.
Of course not, you can find those specs on every manufactures' page. EQ'ing for headphones for listening purposes is even more pointless imo...

There's no personal definition of dynamics, you can't debate that. I don't think you have a clue. Not that I'm saying that you should, but stating that over-compressed albums are 'really dynamic' is like saying the Eiffel Tower is in Burkina Faso.
I have some of the unmastered tracks of Erta Alé, and the difference is huge (for example, one track has been reduced in the dynamic range with 8db!). Really, put those tracks through a loudness meter and please come again with your results. You don't need the unmastered versions, if you would actually listen and understand what's going on (again, this is not a personal attack, it's just not the easiest matter in the world of audio) you would agree. Check the soundclouds of some artists, and notice the difference. I'm not talking about EQ'ing or whatnot, just dynamics - the most important thing in music regarding the combination of technique and creativity.
