1. Jos,

a few remarks all imo of course ...

I think there are a few confusing things and that there are too many substyles

-suomi/funky : shizm is not really a good example I think it's more a forest than suomi style compilation (lots of aarhus influences)

-the crossover jazz influenced part can be left away I think ... most suomi is crossover and stuff like haltya, loopus is pure suomi

    dark psy :

I think that the mainstream dark psy is a bad name since it's not really mainstream. It can also be left away althought there is indeed difference between penta and hishiryo so maybe :

dark psy : - dark full on

    -darkpsy

    - horror trance

I 'm also missing the term dark full on ....

I don't think that the southafrican stuff can be listed as darkpsy it's just dark full on nor does it need it's own division otherwise the russians, the danes, the greeks the israelis can also have one of there own

I would also leave the minimal darkpsy out ... it's not really a gerne since most dark psy is quiet minimal

deviant species is not dark psy it's more techtrance, or dark full on

maybe you can also leave some of the full on substyles out : euphoric/pop full on

    :)

  2. the way I see it :

back in the days you had oldschool, most of the time melodic goatrance .... So if you were into goantrance you probably liked everything coming out those days because there werenot much different styles to choose from ;...

nowadays you have way more substyles wich don't always connect to each other so it's easier to say that there is more crap being released wich is totally not the case imo ....

  3. Well, I can maybe help a little

Talpa will, as Vortex said, release a second album on Sundance, but probably early next year! :) It will be a mix between his nice typical medieval melodies with some full on influences.

Funny how you always refer to me as vortex (pschedelic.be nick) on psynews and as Gaetan on psychedelic :)

  4. 0.1 % accuracy is enough to make a decent mix. sure its nicer if its 0.02 % or better.. but if you cant mix on 0.1 %.. go and practice..

pitchbend buttons or jogwheel..  i prefer the jogwheel but its obvious now its a matter of personal preference what you like.

i also like the fact most players are topdecks instead of rackdecks. its alot better for your back if its a topdeck  :P

I think it shouldnt really matter what you play on. as a dj you should be able to play on anything. Although most dj's will be happier campers if they have good gear

    endless discussion ...

Only thing I know ... Is that over the years I 've seen only 3-5 ppl who could play really tight with those cdj 100 (I was not 1 of them) ... But I know 50 dj's who think they mix allright till you record the mix and listen to it on a home stereosystem ... I go out allmost every weekend to listen to other psytrance dj's who one by one prove my point about tight mixing ...

it's a bitch to mix tightly with the cdj 100 ... If you deny this than you are either very talented or your ears are not trained well enough ....

    :)

  5. I still dont see how the Pioneer outweighs the Denons.  Is the quality better?  Better sound?  The denons have more effects.  plus they have brake and reverse fuctions.  Every where I turn to people say get teh Pioneers, but why?

    656835

I have no idea why pioneer is used more frequently that denons ... Maybe because they are easier to use I don't know ... All I know is that back in the cdj 100 days those denons were way better than the pioneers only not that friendly to use ....

But as far as I know denons is a quality poduct ... I never bought them cuz you won't find them on parties and I prefer to practice on the same gear as when I have to play

well as far as I know Pioneer has the best anti-skip technology.  THats pretty important, especially with psytrance.  Plus all those effects kinda clutter the interface.

Maybe Pioneers last longer as well?  I dont know, Ive only had Pioneers.

ive got the cdj-100s's and Im happy with them, regardless of pitch percentages or whatever.  Lepton:  You're actually the first person Ive ever heard say anything bad about the cdj-100.  At least its got a jogwheel, some of those cheapass packages (GEmini Im lookin at you) dont even have that.

    656837

I'm not :) Be honest 0.1% is a total rip off ... and don't tell it's not ... And the jogwheel sucks

They only reason why I use 1 gemini is because it is cheap and has pitchbend buttons wich beats any jogwheel ... I think it's physically impossible to correct with a jogwheel as fast as you can with pitchbend buttons ... Too bad gemini's are so crappy they breake down very fast ....

and that is actually the only drawback on pioneers ... the lack of pitchbend buttons ... wich is a total shame ...

  6. Well, I would like to "mainly" spin psy trance, But I would like the scratch feature because I live in a fairly small town, and most people dont even like any sort of EDM.  In order to get my name out at all I will have to bow down to society and play some things I would rather not AKA, rap/ hip-hop.  I had no intenetions on scratching to psy, but I bet it can be done.

So, all agree that the quality of the pioneer CDJ-100 is superior to the Denon S1000's?

I want to do way more than just "mix" I want to add a shit ton of effects and pretty much recreate what the origional artist did.  Plus I have converted to CD for the fact I cn now play my own produced stuff without getting vinyl pressed  :D .

minus the scratch feature, Does the pioneers have more functions/effects?

    656803

the cdj 1000 doesn't have any soundeffects .... you should use the pioneer djm 600-800 for that ...

    it does feature :

-looping (wich actually is useless since you can not make a seamless loop) I know it is presented as seamless but I never managed to make one ... don't ask me why it's too difficult to explain in english....

    -mutiple cue points

-reads/spin every mp3 (on the cdj 200 you can not dj with vb rate mp3)

    -pitch till 100%

    -reverse playback

I don't know much about the denons only that if you have to spin on a gig they always rent pioneers over here ... Don't know the situation at you place

btw the cdj 200 does have 3 soundeffects (zip, wah jet)

  7. yes, I have ... this is the only thing that works...

Doing this currently with Saikosounds. But the shipping prices are still damn high there ... I understand because it's coming from Hong Kong, but still ... almost as much as I pay for the goods I pay again for shipping ... damn...

  8. whatever you do don't by the cdj 100 they are crap ... the 0.1 % pitch resolution is a total rip off and the jogwheel sucks too ...

there are only 2 options :

    cdj 200

    cdj 1000

if you want to scratch save some money and go for the cdj 1000 ...

if you don't want to scratch don't hesitate and buy the cd 200 I think it's even better than the cdj 1000 (the jogwheel is smaller and more precise imo)

don't ever buy the cdj 800 ... you can scratch with it but the pitchresolution is only 0.5 % wich is a shame ...

  9. I don't have a credit card. And I won't get one, since I don't have an income. So what can I do than buying by COD?

Months ago I tried buying the S-Range single from Psyshop with COD. The price for the single was 5 Euros. The price for COD was 17 EUROS! Now, am I an imbecile or what? Paying three times as much for COD than what I'm paying for the goddamn single itself? Hello? Earth to Psyshop? Anything wrong with this?

And NO, I am not the type of rich bastard that can afford to order 6 CDs at once so that the COD costs spread up like lumpi suggested! I just CAN'T! I could maybe, but then I'd be doomed for a month abstinence of beer and not going out on weekends and only sitting at home drinking water and eating stone hard bread ... I can't torture my soul and body like that, I am no masochist. So what real options are left? None! I can't afford ordering from psyshops, that's why I never have!

BTW, I then got this S-Range single from a local psy store. I'm lucky to have something like this in town. Paid 10 Euros for that single (still a lot if you ask me - for a single, goddamn, I normally can afford only half the price for full albums!) ... but what the heck, it was at least cheaper than ordering from an internet psystore.

I personally find it discriminating that people in the psy community that have no credit card are litterally ripped in two with ridiculously high COD fees.

my 2 cents on the COD issue

    ...

But Radi, what did I read there above? You HAVE a credit card? I mean ... when you have one then why the heck are you complaining like a madman here - go use it! If you're a paranoid bastard then I think you DESERVE to pay more for COD! You deserve to be ripped off! Otherwise you'll never learn! I mean, having a creditcard and not using it ... that detail makes your thread like one of the most stupid threads you ever made. I would have the right to complain (and I did here above), but please go kick yoursef in the ass until you can't sit anymore for not using your goddamn creditcard...
