  1. you should use a new note, sawtooth wave, right off a pantomime four, re-jam it through itself, loop it back, mix it with the sound of a crab committing suicide, and let it stew in its own reverb for about three hours. And then pump it all out through an old shoe, to give it that oaky timbre!! Srsly tho im well impressed - the beginning needs a bit of eq'ing but otherwise you're on a roll me likes!

  4. Artist: Various Title: Waldfreakquenz 2 Type: Compilation PsyProgressive Label: Waldfrieden Events Url: http://www.wald-frieden.de/ Samples: http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/waf/waf1cd902.html Release date: 08/22/2008 Catalogue Number: WAFCD902 Tracks: 08 Length: 59:51 1. Water Sensation (Magic Of The Sun Mix) - PHILTER 2. Roborhythmix - LIGHTSPHERE 3. This Is The Love - DAY.DIN 4. Maximiser - LUMBARGO 5. Smooth Sexual - NECMI 6. Ostara - ATSARA 7. Vision - FEUERHAKE, ANALOG PUSSY 8. Your Life - PSYKO MANTIS PROMOTIONAL "BLURB" FOR THE ALBUM: Waldfreakquenz 2 is a collection of 8 tracks from 8 artists released on 08.08.08. Waldfrieden Events follow up release to their succesful Waldfreakquenz compilation is this time around compiled by resident Djanes a lice D and D Joanna, giving this summers compi a fresh female, psychedelic taste. alice D Joanna is a fusion of the two Waldfrieden residents whom founded their back to back project together in 2004.They both started mixing around the same time, between 2000-2001, playing at parties all around Germany including main floor bookings at Antaris Project and Wonderland . These popular girls have also played plenty of gigs in other countries Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Columbia, Peru and Egypt. Known at the parties they play for the fun that they have together behind the decks and transfering their energy to the dance floor, a lice D and D Joanna are also both big dance floor visitors themselves. Waldfreakquenz 2 is a selection of tracks handpicked and tested by the girls, including tracks from other Waldfrieden residents Psyko Mantis and Philter , fused together with progressive trance favourites Feuerhake, Day.Din and Necmi, as well as some psychedelic gems from up and coming talents Atsara, Lumbago and Lightsphere . Waldfreakquenz 2 will take you once again on a psychedelic trip through the Stemwede Forest just in time for this years Wonderland Festival . Review 1) Water Sensation (magic of the sun mix) by Philter, an artist who made a nice little number I remember called 'Atribute' a couple of years back. This one begins with a nice steady overlay of sounds dropping right into the 4x4. quite a steady buid into a female lead vocal "feel the sunset" which acts a platform to increase the tracks tempo. now things start to pick up.. 2) We roll right into Lightspheres 'Roborhythmix' =D You know when u come across a track which just makes you grin from ear to ear when the hook drops? well this is it. sublime track with good use of a vocorder as the robot asks you "can u feel the rhythm?", what will you answer? have a listen, jiggle & grin like a foo! :posford: 3) Last year Day.Din came out with his first album 'Speakers Corner' (one of my favorite psy-progressive albums of last year) and cemented his standing as one of germanys hottest progressive acts. 'This is the love' would have been near essential if not for the cheesy vocal part (maybe im being a bit to harsh) which, to be fair doesnt last for long. It would have been nice if vocal went totally loopy hypnotic instead of just poppy, but thats just my feeling. 4) Lumbargo up next with Maximizer. Straighten up ur backs (ok its not quite lumbago, but...) and get ready because the temp certainly picks up with this track. A little minimalist on the layers at the beginning but it finds its feet at 2.45 and begins to drop some pretty menacing sounds which could have lead to an anthemic all-out-hands-in-the-air sort of situation, but its good all the same. 5) As some of you may know Necmi has been around for a while now and has relaeased some good stuff on Tatsu and Nova tekk in the late 90s. Smooth Sexual doesnt really move like the previous offering by Lumbargo but concentrates on layers. And believe me, we got everything in this one! Electric guitars, f**ked up reverb'd samples all backed by a bouncy progressive rhythm. 6) Ostara by Atsara for me is a classic display of well engineered psy-progressive, good build of layers and tempo shifts. A little short for my liking at just under 6mins & for me this is definately a filler track, but, a very good filler at that. 7) Well well well this next track is by 2 uber cool artists. Feuerhake and Analog Pussy. Feuerhake is like as close as you can get to a true psyprogressive verteran still operating and co-producing damn fine tunes in the process. This team up with AP is downright genuis and their love-child is beautiful. I cant stop listening to this track, its got this midi sound running thru it which just fits. perfectly! danko! :posford: 8) Psyko Mantis takes up the job of leading us out with this tight track. OK It uses a vocorder with a female voice reeling off a list of things including Ass, Tits, Shoesize, Ears, Knackers (im serious!!) and A better life from the comfort of your sofa (erm thats all i could remember). Pretty random but to be honest Psyko could've replaced it with his shopping list and it still would've worked. A solid ender to a equally solid offering from Waldfrieden Events. Overall The fact that they managed to get on one album some of the scenes heavyweights is testament to the quality of this release imo. aside from one fairly so so track the overall album is a funky melodic journey thru the german psy-progessive sound circuit of today, a littel short at just under an hour play time but well worth your attention. An excellent second release and a good job all round guise! :clapping: :clapping:
  5. I agree with comparison to U-Recken buh I dont agree with "repeat listening" part GREAT GREAT ALBUM!

  7. Artist: Flip Flop Title: Floppy Drive Type: Album Label: Alchemy Url: http://www.alchemyrecords.co.uk/ Samples: http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/311451-01.htm Release date: 02.05.2008 Catalogue Number: ANCD025CD Tracks: 09 Length: 70:12 01. Oriental Voodoo 02. Floppy Drive 03. Sleaze Machine 04. Sonic Air 05. Jurassic Lark 06. Diamond In The Rough 07. Equinox 08. Changa Banga 09. Francoso "Flip Flop" are Chris Hanson (aka Touch Tone/Sketchy Pimps/DJ Crispy) and John Beesemyer-Monkman (aka Hemi-Sync/Pink Noize), two producers from the UK. Both have been writing trance for over seven years, using this time to hone their production techniques and allow their sound to develop into the kicking Full On/Progressive hybrid that it has become. With influences from many different genres of music and a tendency to think outside the box, their music stands out at home as well as on massive sound-systems. Huge slabs of groove and tripped out sonic sound-scapes are interlaced with a melodic structure subtly easing its way out of the arrangement. Both Chris and John DJ and Play live regularly around the UK in addition to international gigs played in Brazil, German, Thailand, France, Sweden, Denmark and India. PROMOTIONAL "BLURB" FOR THE ALBUM: Alchemy records are proud to unleash Flip Flop's first long player on the world. John Beesemyer-Monkman and Chris Hanson are two young Londoners who have been cooking it up for a while now, testing the material on dance floors across the globe then whipping it back into the studio for some added power and squelch. It’s rare that artists introduce a genuinely new sound to the scene but a brief listen to Flip Flop will show you that they are trying something different and that its working. If you've been on a heaving festival dance floor in the last year and have wondered what that exotic hybrid of psychedelic trance and deep atmospheric electronica is that shakes the system to its foundations, there's a fighting chance that these two are responsible. John and Chris have been friend's since they were kids and unlike a lot of artists they have really grown up with trance music since arguably its heyday of creativity in the late 90s. This is clear from the way that the album transports you back to classics like "Slipstream" (Flying Rhino), "Schizoeffective" (The Delta), "Headcleaner" (Atmos) as well as more recent releases like "Who needs love songs" (Sub 6) not to mention plenty of input from two consecutive winters wowing the dancefloors of Brasil. Their live sets at festivals like Universo Parallelo have repeatedly been seen as highlights by party goers and other artists alike. They have both been DJing for more than ten years, giving them an acute understanding of what it takes to push tracks beyond the superficial and into the realm of powerful and captivating dance floor music. They don't merely churn it out and there's a lot of love and discipline in the studio which adds a welcome depth and confidence to their sound. So immersed in music and parties are these boys that you have probably shared a cup of sunrise chai or at least a smiling dance with them without even realizing it. Their warm personalities have made them easy guests for party people and much in demand as a live act, and this character shines out of the album. Floppy Drive crunches and clobbers its way through 80 minutes of bold and shuddering, groovy and hypnotic dance music. Flip Flop aren't locked in by the rules of the genre instead utilizing them to build stunning sound scape's, even at times creeping away from trance music with snatches of ambiance and technoid crossover which reward the listener without confusing the palette. Tuck in! Review After attempting to write a serious in-depth review I decided to sum it all in 2 words: BLOODY MARVELLOUS :posford: [and thats every single pearly track] A stomp fest of an album – intelligent and moving – mastered to perfection. This album may have slipped under the radar but it deserves your full attention :clapping: Buy it! [love the artwork design also!]
  8. Pogo Presents : Wingmakers Beyondwards And Upwards (a march release getting a may review ) Artist: VA Title: Wingmakers Beyondward And Upwards Type: Compilation Label: Nano Records Url: http://www.nanorecords.co.uk/ Release date: 21.03.2008 Catalogue Number: NANOOCD018 Tracks: 09 Length: 71:88 01 Pogo & Chameleon - Onwards And Upwards 02 Prometheus & Pogo - A Wonderful Feeling 03 Tristan & Pogo - A Different World 04 Laughing Buddha & Pogo - Brains 05 Aphid Moon & Pogo - Total Reality 06 Lucas & Pogo - Space Cake 07 Master Blasters - Interconnected 08 Pogo - Imagination 09 Dickster & Pogo - The Hoff Release Info: Having forged a name for himself as one of the UK's top psychedelic DJ's along with his legendary Wingmaker parties and compilations for Dragonfly Records, Pogo now presents his latest offering and first for NANO. This time around the towering powerhouse of Pogo has had a hand in the production of all the tracks included on this world class collaboration album. Collaborating with the cream of London based producers, there is no mistaking that this a collection of party anthems of the highest quality and delivers the much needed Psy Trance effect that parties are crying out for. The music speaks for itself as do the names involved, Tristan, Prometheus, Dickster (Green Nuns, AMD...), Laughing Buddha (ex-Cosmosis), Aphid Moon, Lucas (Tip Records), and new comers Chameleon and Master Blasters (the later being a new project for Pogo) plus a solo track of Pogo's too. Deep and triptastic, Wingmakers (Beyondwards and Upwards) is packed full of acid monsters, snarling rhythms, schmangled samples and heads-down slamming good times all ensuring the Wingmakers are set to soar once more. Review: 1) This track for me defines the UK trance sound at the moment: heavy acidic build ups with a totally hypnotic breakdown, reverb-ing arpeggios good use of samples, sweeping pads... it basically delivers on all fronts =] 2) Next one up is Prometheus & pogo with A Wonderful Feeling. I love Corridor of Mirrors and this track has that distinctive Prometheus sound we've come to know with very nice build into a multi layered hard driven hook. Turns quite dark near 6mins then picks up into a springy wind down.. 3) Tristan&Pogo roll in with A different world =D If you're familiar with Tristan’s sound on compilations (not mentioning his last album) then you'll be glad to hear its shining thru on this track. "Just what is LSD and what does it do?" goes the sample which evolves into a crunchy acidic hook. One thing about this track is its sense of openness to it, the progression isn’t forced and the end result is pretty awesome! Need more pogo&tristan collabs plz! 4) I don’t know what it is about Laughing Buddha but for some reason I always get the feeling he holds back a little. Maybe its Comosis days flash back =/ this track is highly atmospheric with a slow progression which doesn’t seem to want to go anyplace fast, doesn’t really do it for me 5) Taking a break from AMD, Aphid Moon combines with Pogo to release Total Reality on us a tight track which leads off very well from the previous one. This track has all the hallmarks of a system/floor slammer. Crystal clear sound with a staggered melody not overused at all and a great sweeping build up into a full-on hypnotic breakdown. 6) The title says it all really Space Cake is one of those you hear someplace, think its okay, then hear it on a sound system and realise you need to listen to it again on ur mp3, and then u fall in love with it <3 measured moving with great use of stuttered effects rising into a spongy hook the end brings out a sublime melody that ends far too quickly imo. 7) DAMN! This track nice produced by a side project of Pogo! jejejeje - veeeery hypnotic, deep rolling and funky! The melody and breakdown just has to be heard, there’s no reasoning with it!! Very distinctive no doubt this one will come out to jangle ur cells at quite a few outdoor parties.. 8) Next up Pogo's solo track Imagination. very nice solo work this - the track up until midway could do with some more tightness but then it turns a corner and shifts into a fluidly built heavily textured rhythm which then swings into a drop which shud make u think "holy crap where'd that come from!" 9) Argh! we're at 9? ALREADY?! OK The Hoff is up next [no not Dustin or The Hasselhoff, ALBERT!] by Dick Trevor&Pogo =] this track is a pacy journey thru a world of fast bass riffs full-on layers and a build which should get u stomping 'I LOVE LSD' in Morse code with your feet, over and over till u get told to stoppit by the bouncer. Its one of those Great compiling and production by Pogo and the guys at NANO you can certainly hear the different styles on this one but with the added Pogo touch Id class this as a pretty much essential buy if you like the UK sound and aside from the lower powered Laughing Buddha track the other 8 certainly pick up the slack. Great album! :posford:
