  1. As this seems to be a somewhat official idm topic here I'd like to extend my appreciation to these old classics which I've been listening lately...

Xela - For Frosty Mornings And Summer Nights & Logreybeam - It's All Just Another Aspect Of Mannerism

  2. So, what's your favorite Amon Tobin album?

Bricolage because of the memories followed by Supermodified and Permutation sharing the second place. Out from Out Where and Foley Room are very good too :)

And for murphythecat; What I got from your first posts was that you thought that Amon Tobin had no real talent, ripped everyone off and was bearly listenable. I think you might wanna do some research and think before you post. It's natural to say that you don't like something but you always seem to come off like as you were the only person on earth who has a good taste in music and if someone disagrees they are just stupid.

  3. ...and what I actually got from your posts was that you thought Amon Tobin was ripping everyone off and had no originality and was mediocre that no one should listen to his music. Of course artists use same elements, some by mistake and some intentionally, it's the end result that counts :)

  4. yeah we talked about the originality of amon tobin, i get it, he is original

now i was only talkin about similar point between amon tobin and other artist

since They thought that amon tobin had no ressemblance whatsoever with the flashbulb or wisp

Who the fuck cares? Just listen to the music and be happy :)

  5. Dude, all you needed to say is that you don't like his stuff, but what you did was bring up alot of comparisons to artists that are no way similar to Amon Tobin. Seriously, I don't think Amon Tobin's jazzy breaks is no way near Kettel or Venetian Snares. Some other Ninja Tune artists may be the closest, but Amon Tobin is one of a kind even if you don't want to admit it :D

  6. wisp

    kettel

    apparat

    blackfilm

    the flashbulb

    venetian snares

    bola

    tycho

all in the same extended brand of music

makes all original music, that i always want to listen to, not like amon tobin.

Well none of these artists sound like Amon Tobin imho

First of all you listed some random IDM and breakcore artists that have nothing in common with Amon Tobin's music. Breaks with jazz samples vs. melodic idm like Kettel or insane breakcore like Venetian Snares.

And can you give me some examples of who Amon Tobin is ripping of exactly

  7. In the genre he does, theres quite lot of artist better then him, im sorry for you to not know them, thats all, Amon's not a sucker He has a nice sounds and particular one, tough, there something missing in his songs that makes me pretty much everytime say : oh okay, that was nice, but do i want to listen to amon tobin ten times a day? NO!

So what are these similar yet more original artists?

  8. I was disappointed by this album that everyone rated 5/5 on discogs. All the tracks sound the same and only one or two have enough going on to hold my attention. Maybe this is because I've listened to too much psytrance. I like the general mood it tried to set, but there wasn't enough detail in it.

    I'd probably rate it 3/5.

I don't think the tracks sound all the same, maybe you just pay more attention :)

  9. I hate when people don't write there WTF THE GENRE OR STYLE IS! I'm not THAT clairvoyant yet.

It's necessary for people like me who need to avoid the keywords like fullon, progressive, goa, or simply expressed, trance. Not that I wouldn't like Goa trance, but this is something I listen to when I'm cutting a tree to pieces, and I avoid woodcutting, so I don't need a regular fresh doses of trance. Most of it sounds all the same to me.

This is, I guess, the trance music. The cover looks very trancey and Hedonix seems familiar.

Edit: OK, Longloststar, thanks for confirming my guess. 'Progressive' and 'dark' are clear messages.

Why don't you just google it or check discogs? It's not that hard.. And yes, complaining is harder :)

...and yes, this is a kick ass album, long waited, didn't disappoint B)

  10. Well of course... gotta love the heavy wet beats :P

The rubberfootbass + the overall atmosphere sounds just melt my heart, always loved them and always will. Nowdays pretty much all I listen to is Suomi, experimental & forest when it comes to psy + the occasional melodic stuff :)
