Going to a Bat Mitzvah ?

If there are still Jewish people on this forum I have a question :

My mom was invited to a Bat Mitzvah and she asked me to come along.

I agreed, but I don't know if I will regret it or not. Will it be boring or OK etc.

Also, I no longer have a suite jacket, I don't know what people wear to them.

It probably varies from country to country. I am familiar with Bat Mitzvahs / Bar Mitzvahs in the US by Reform Jews (the most liberal US branch).

 

There's usually a religious ceremony of approx 2+ hours on a Saturday morning at a temple, followed by a reception or party. If you don't have a suit, you can probably get away with a coat and tie at a Reform temple. Conservative and Orthodox temples (the other US branches) may be a little more strict about attire; I don't really know. It there's a reception there's probably little or no music. If there's a party there will probably be music but some of it will be chosen for older relatives and guests. Usually mainstream pop or dance music. No psy, no goa, no EDM.

 

If you know the family, you'll probably have a good time. If not, you may get a little bored.
