The Delta - Send In Send Back

It's quite clear that the Spirallianz/Midimiliz guys are heavily involved in

this project now, as the production resembles theirs in many ways. Compare to

the recent spirallianz release on spirit zone (#095) for example. The

patchfinder track off of that EP could just as well have been a track on this

album. This is not as hard as the Authentik album (released on the same label)

but in places even more distorted and techno-ish. More importantly, it's a

million times more atmospheric and moody than that one. This is NOT techno by

the way, and it's certainly not very psychedelic either. Instead this is

something new, and something I really enjoy. Heavy bass, distorted pumping

rhythms and atmospheric sounds on top. Not much in terms of melody, but I

don't mind. Ranging from freaky industrial sounds to pianos, the ambient

overlays makes this album really excellent. It has a sort of doomsday mood, a

kind of sadness over it. Track 3, "Standby", is a good contender for the track

of the year in my opinion, it's just *perfect* for a damp, dark, cold autumn.

My favourites are 2, 3, 4, 7 and 9. The tracks that are more "dry" and lack

the sweeping armageddon atmospheres are less interesting in my opinion (they

sound too much like the more dull productions from midimiliz), and unlike

Insejn above I think track 6 is the weakest of this album. Track 5 doesn't

quite do it for me either, at least not for home listening. The last track is

a downbeat thing, much like the slower tracks on the Authentik album. To sum

this up, we have an extremely well produced album in a style that is only

beginning to appear in the scene. With only a few weak tracks and the good

ones being REALLY good, I'll give this 8 or 9 out of 10.

I forgot to mention a few things: This album has resemblance to tracks such as

Pop and Thing from Scizoeffective, but you won't find another "travelling at

the speed of thought" on here. You will, however, find stuff that makes wizzy

noise seem like the theme from teletubbies (almost, at least).

I'll have to say that, after the first listen, i am disappointed. I was hoping

for more horror-psy like Pop and Thing and the other tracks in the first half

of Scizoeffective. Instead I get a bunch of tracks that more resemble the

second half, the half I don't really like. Though that doesn't mean this is

bad. My experience tells me never to judge an album after the first listen, so

maybe this will turn out to be really good. I hope so. Just don't expect much

of the (obvious, at least) horrific sounds from Scizoeffective.

Review:

 

Ok. So let us compare this to 'Scizoeffective'.

This is kinda the same style, maybe not THAT hard

and a little more minimalistic. The tracks are short

and dark. Did I have to tell you that?

This is not so experimental as Scizo is. There is minimal

all way to the last track that is same style as 'Dr Rayman'.

The tracks are similar to each other. There is a weird sound

that they use in almost every track. I can't really describe it.

Although, it's is really fun to play this loud. It's worth every penny just to

crank up the volume and feel it

Anyway...I'm not much of a minimal fan so the minimal-people out there

can add a point or so on the rating. Best tracks: 5, 6 and 11.

I just listened to the whole thing (it's a promocopy so it's bad quality I'm

afraid). I'm a HUGE fan of Delta/X-Dream/Spirallianz. But this album is not

that good. The tracks builds up more like techno-tracks, not like

trance-tracks... Minimal techno can be really good, but this is too monotonous

for me, it doesn't go anywhere! Very good for DJ's though! I was expecting

more. 6.5/10 for this promo (maybe I'll rate it differently when I've heard

the final mastered version).

For an adequate review of -Send In Send Back-, one should definitely undergo

this 1 at an abandoned, sloppy warehouse somewhere in rainy, cold Germany with

a gothic-psy crowd dressed mainly in black going nuts under a constant

blacklight attack and moreover the decibels cranked to near maximum. Only then

the real value of this ultimate dark affair gets probably revealed. Although I

am certainly not an avid minimal/progressive disciple, the massive and

atmospheric soundscape these guys manage to produce is simply amazing. Shame

that the somewhat shallow trax 5 and 6 spoil the fright night a bit. 8.5/10

Incredible album. I really enjoyed Scizoeffective, but was turned off a little

by the fake horror on Thing, but As a Child... and Pop have become among my

all-time favorites. This time around we have more Spirallianz/Midimilitz than

X-Dream, and in that way, and only that way, Send In...Send Back is more

straightforward. Meanwhile, they play up the strings, which comprises most of

the melody on the album, and the horror sound, but this time we hear a far

more mature version of it than on the first album. I was actually surprised

that these boys have actually managed to outdo themselves with this album -

again, EXTREMELY powerful and throbbing, but now with added musicality and

even some sentimentality here and there. I'm blown away. Favorite tracks: 3.

Standby (Gotta love that sample from the female ship computer!), 7. Def by

Delta (Part 2), and 8. Fade. The last track is a weird down-tempo thing and is

very entertaining. Also, not mentioned so far is the wierd trick played with

the hidden track: no song, just the occasional wierd sample every minute or

two until it ends with a robotic voice from, I would assume, one of the three

song-writers. Very cool. I give this one a 9/10 ...Bliss.

this is a really unique and original album. it sounds to me like a celebration

of sadness, like a party held among the survivors of a nuclear holocaust. in

fact the cd artwork consists of a dude in a biosuit amidst ruins and rubble,

numerous nuclear insignias, and more ruins and rubble. the style in the

harder moments of this album is a rough, pumping, energetic, stomping dark

madness, and the more subdued, moody moments sound like quiet reflections on

apocalypse and doom. very sophisticated and deep, this album probes all the

quirks and intricacies of a mood of despair. i can't judge this album yet, as

i haven't had time to take it in, but my initial guess is 8.5/10.

My neighbours won´t like this record so I haven´t dared to play it on my stereo

yet... I don´t want to be evicted!!! I should buy some fuses too before I try

to play this on my system. I don´t understand how they can create such a

massive bass and still allow other sounds to be heard through that dense

carpet. This is an incredible record and only Haltyas "Forest Flavour" can

compete with it for the title "Album Of The Year". 10/10

The CD is good, but people have to remember that this is not Xdream. They

release a new one early next year. I would only be disapointed in this work if

it were under the name Xdream. The first album I think had a little more of

the Xdream style and started to evolve into something different, but it still

kind of had the influence of Xdream. This album is completely a different

style and feel all together. I was disapointed at first listen, because I

expected an "As A Child" song, but you won't find that here. This CD is more

minimal, which I normally don't like, but damn it really bites if you crank

the volume. This minimal I can deal with, but I do have to say that I couldn't

listen from beginning to end. It gets boring after a couple songs. So, if

you're looking for a great minimal CD for mixing or if you're into Spirilianz

and midimiliz, buy it, but if you are looking for a home listening CD and

don't like the minimal, I would say probably go elsewhere. Track 3 (standby)is

the best by far. Evil and agressive, but very beautiful and soothing at the

same time. WOW, great track.

Standby is a track for the ages. I came this close to picking up the CD for

this track alone. The rest of the disc would play really nice in big dingy

factories, it's got that dirty clapped-out warehouse rattle/shake throughout.

Unfortunately I get tired of this sound after 5 minutes these days (OK! I'm

old! Dammit!) and want to move on to something less maudlin. I'll wait for

the X-Dream CD. Still, where it's good this CD is excellent.
