Lurifax - Pferd / Lobo

You're right, this EP is pretty cool, it's definitely different. I dont know

about 10/10 though, for me its more like 7.5/10. Iboga has had problems with

mastering in the past but it has gotten better, so this EP is a step back to

its earlier releases. Too bad, because these tracks are very innovative in a

deep gloomy kind of way.

Sometimes I wonder if it is supposed to sound this unmastered, it gives the

tracks a very different mysterious feel, but on the other hand it makes these

tracks very hard to mix, because whatever way you bring these tracks into the

mix, it is very hard to keep the tension in the lower frequencies, if you know

what I mean?

Review:

Ooooh! What has happened to this danish guy Jacob Olsen? This 12" is so

crazy! I bought this record some months ago but I still can´t stop

playing it on my vinylcarver. My reaction when I listened to it the

first time was that I started to laugh. It sounds like nothing else from

this world and you just can´t help looking like a big fool with a big

grin on your face while listening to it. When I played this record to a

friend he started to dance in my apartment in a way that would have made

Michael Flately envious, and by judging from his smile you could easily

have thought that he had swallowed a whole pharmacy even though he

doesn´t use any drugs. Some might think that this is just extremely slow

crappy minimal stuff but everyone I have played this record to has

enjoyed it, and this is the perfect music for deep forest parties in the

summer. Three out of four tracks are amazing in my humble opinion. If I

have to say anything negative about this record it has to be about the

embarrassingly poor soundquality. One of the tracks sounds like it´s

been recorded on a walkman with a microphone in an empty garage, and

another is recorded so low that the background noise sounds like a TV

with "antwar" on it. This is one of my favorite records of all time so

it just has to be 10/10, but remember... this is the sort of music that

probably will give you permanent braindamage so be aware!!!

I don't quite know about this one. I really dig most of the new Iboga stuff

(Zerotonine, Reefer Decree), but I listened to this in the store and it was

just way too minimal for me. Out of four songs, none of them really go

anywhere. I might have to give it another listen, but my first impression was

pretty bad.

Dark & freakish nighttime track; indeed very hard to mix, so perhaps best kept

for home listening. I don't really hear the sound quality being poor, IMHO it

just sound a bit mangled because it's supposed to be scary.

these guys are obviously talented, so I hope they keep up the good work

This EP is like reeeaaally good! As you said, when you listen to this album you

just smile, it has so many "tricks" that are so great. I think its a 9/10, it

deserve a 10 but the first tracks ain't that good. Ghede Nimbo and Cryonics

are really good. This EP is on the cutting edge of todays music, I think the

future music will sound like this.

This EP is completely unreal! The most wicked stuff i've ever played. And

lurifax has recently released another freakish track on a new cd compil by

nano beat, called lush. This guy is a psychokiller. Get it while You can!

Yes, I've definately come around on this guy since hearing his track "Polaroid"

on the Set:01 compilation. Dark and atmospheric is really the only way to

describe it. Please Iboga, give us more Lurifax! (And more Audiopile too!).

This EP is fucking wonderful. loved it for many years. just found it again.

they should release this as .wav on beatport.

and the wierd dynamics don't bother me one bit. very refreshing with all the overlimited crap that comes out these days (not specifcally talkin about iboga, don't really listen to trance anymore)
