You know, the whole chanting-thing there with the "Go-nam... Shiva..." What does he sing? And what does it mean?... I'm sure it's some Tibetan chant, but can anyone translate it? Thanx! Guest psycle Posted April 24, 2002 Share Posted April 24, 2002 DeathPosture... have been curious about the same thing and have asked several people what it means...but they can never understand it...only enough to know that it is Sanskrit, not Tibetian...next time i go back to India...this is one of my missions..grab someone who speaks/understands Sanskrit and make them translate it for me....if you can wait for a couple of months i can find out for you...but im sure someone on this forum will have the answer in a while. It mentions some of the different names of Shiva, especially the ancient name, Rudra and may also be taken from the Upanishads (ancient Hindu texts). I think it talks about Shiva the creator and destroyer and is basically a prayer to Shiva or something like that. But the chanting is from Anuvaka (section) 1 of chapter 16 of the Upanishads (sacred ancient Indian texts). It's called the ShreeRudram.
